After keeping our 25 year old #veco #frigoboat fridge/freezer on life support for half of our global navigation it was time for a drastic change. So enough was enough and I ripped the entire unit out and replaced with a 24v #dometic fridge/freezer.
Being in Australia - the land of the great outback - there were plenty to choose from. This not only meant it would be easier to repair/replace in the future but it also gave us (and future owners) far easier access to the water tank below.
If you're a professional, expert or even an old salty sea dog with some good advice on how to repair boat fridge freezers, portable fridge freezers.. or even marine refrigeration in general, then please leave any constructive criticism, insight and advice in the comments below the videos.

The only issue to be aware of, and I am sure you would know this is condensation on the outside of the freezer when in warmer climates, they just don’t have the amount if insulation that your old fridge did.

Good timing as I’m thinking of doing the same thing for my 1983 Westerly Sealord. Existing ‘cool’ box works ok ish but draws about 60 amps and is really noisy.
Any idea on the power draw of yours ?

Wow 60amps is a lot! I’m on 24v system but my previous unit was drawing about 7amps and this new one 4amps max when freezing but a lot less once it’s frozen and cruising.

Is the cabinet well enough ventilated for cooling efficiency?

Yes there’s a big hole where the previous cooling fan used to be and plenty of space around the unit.
