How to Reset the Change Engine Oil Light on your Car

Here is a video on how to reset the change engine oil light on a 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo. This procedure with slight variations should work on most GM made vehicles!

Ok so I talked to a reliable mechanic, and he said the reason for it is because the age of the car. Since the car is a little old it has to just warm up a bit like take a stretch for example! That’s why it doesn’t take long till it goes back off.

So for somebody like me who doesn't have the stock radio, turn the key to on and press the gas pedal 6 or 7 times. The guy at the oil change spot told me to do it 5 and it didn't work. Idk if it was the 6th or 7th for me but it did turn off.

Mine was not working either until I held the gas pedal down longer on the 3rd push and it worked like a charm. I have an aftermarket radio so before I found this out I was literally having to pull my dash out and reset it with the radio. So thankful I don't have to do that anymore.

So, this didn't work for me. I have a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo SS. I had to do it through the radio.
Start the car.
While it's running, power off the radio.
Press and hold down the TUNE DISP button until you get a SETTING message to appear on the screen.
Use the SEEK PSCAN button to navigate to the right.
When you see the OIL LIFE option, push the number 1 button and Reset should appear, then push, the TUNE DISP button.
Done should appear.
Turn off the car and restart message should be gone.
