Hey Friends! We hope you enjoy this demonstration of the Permobil F5! Don’t forget to comment down below and say hi! We appreciate y’all watching! 💗
Hi folks. I just got the same Permobil you have. I had polio and yes we are fighters. The promissed customer beginners visits of the wheelchair are not happening. I am contacting Permobil technicians. I'd love to contact you two to help you to develop best uses to help your daily lives. Helping is what I do best.....
Hi journey and Tony. I have a lot of on this and your videos are very inspiring to me. Thank you and have a blessed day. My. John will cox 😊
Finally! A normal wheelchair review crisp, clean, smart. No nonsense or super loud music either! I’m from New York, I got my 2019 F3 9 months ago, I got it just before the virus hit, so I didn’t get out much at first, we have fared better then some states. One suggestion I have is that when you’re outside tilt the seat a little and put your feet out some too, this helps to clear the curbs better. Permobil is also rated WC-19 compliant, meaning they are safety to be tied down in vans and such. Lastly check out my friend’s channel TOTALLY NORMAL, his name is Dan, he’s really a good guy, he’s also disabled and he has a lot Permobil chairs. He does chair repair videos, trail videos, etc. think you’ll like the channel. Both you guys are great too. Take care!
Hi Ray! I'm so glad you liked the Permobil review! For me, leaning back into the chair seems counter to leaning forward when trying to go up a curb, I need to trust the anti-tip wheels in the back. I'll definitely try this next time I take it out. My other wheelchair is just that, a wheelchair with motion assist, so I felt every bump and slope! Thanks for mentioning your friend's channel! Definitely going to check that out! I love learning about assistive devices and that he does repairs is really awesome! Glad to meet you and I hope you have an amazing day!
Yeah, Dan is super awesome...he comes across as super smart and could probably repair a wheelchair blindfolded.
I have the F5 and its 8 years old now I LOVE IT.
Hi !! i got the same chair from about 3 mounts and i am really satisfied !! I think that i will make a demonstration video but it will be in french !!
Hi 👋 Tony Jenny what a very special blessing for both you😃💖Enjoy!!!! Have a great day and safe weekend🙏
Susan Donnell Thank you Susan! We are really enjoying it! Have a blessed day too! 💗💗💗 -Jenny
Thank you so much Susan!! We hope you have a great weekend as well! -Tony
Great video. This is one of my considerations for my next power wheelchair and I totally get the need/want to stand. With my MS, I struggle at times to be vertical/do it enough, so this is my main consideration. Thank you!
Hi Owen! Standing just does something for the body, I feel... it’s great having a way to do that safely in the Permobil! I wish you the best with finding your next powerchair. Take care and stay strong!
Cool video! This is the neatest wheelchair I’ve ever seen. I loved when Jenny hopped on for a little ride 😍 it’s so pretty there! I’m so glad we didn’t get hammered by the hurricanes! Really thanking my lucky stars. You guys have a great day! Looking forward to the next one !
Thanks Ann!! I am so grateful we are all safe too! 💗💗💗 Take care and thanks for watching, friend!! -Jenny
Hi Ann! We had a lot of fun on the trail and it was such a beautiful day! We’re thankful that we missed the hurricane as well! Have a great day!! -Tony
This is a great review of your chair, you have inspired me to do one on my chair, also a permobile but a M3
Keep rollin guys this is great content 💙
Thank you Tracey! We plan on doing another video on my day to day wheelchair soon! I’ve been using the Spinergy ZX-1/TiLite combo for five years now. My perfect chair would exist between these two! Can’t wait to see your video! Have a great day! -Tony
Love watching you guys!!! Great video!! Have a great day!!! 💕❤️
Cora’s Cozy Castle thanks friend!! 😍
Wow! That is one cool chair, and ser that chair is really good for you, cause see it shows how tall you are. Oh you guys are a cute couple 🤩☺️
I just got the f5 1 month ago so far I love it. It is my 1st wheelchair ever because I was just paralyzed 2 years ago. I’m still going through a lot mentally and the freedom I obtained from the f5 is going to help me a lot. I am going to have the standing feature added in a few months which I really look forward to. This video helps me tremendously!!!
Hello Robert! The Permobil really is an amazing chair! We're so glad you found our video helpful! Thanks for watching!
Best review of the of the F5 I’ve ever seen this will be my next chair
Hi Joseph! We’re so glad you enjoyed our review! I know you’ll love the Permobil! Have a great day!
Great video thanks for sharing
Wow! That is really INCREDIBLE!
Thank you Shelly!!
Good choice. You can't go wrong with Permobil. And their customer service is beyond the other chair companies.
Thanks for checking out our video Buddy! The biggest feeling I get from the Permobil so far is safety. It really feels like I’m in some kind of streamlined tank! That’s great knowing that Permobil is a solid company! Hope you have a great day!
Really appreciate the curb demo. Thanks brother.
Hi friend! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
I really like my permobile chair. I'm very fortunate to not be wheelchair bound yet, but very glad to have it for what the future brings. Thank you for the videos. You guys are amazing and very encouraging.
Hello friend! Welcome to our channel! We're glad you're enjoying it!
Ahh Tony this is amazing my friend😊👌 xxx Can't wait for those videos of your adventures 😊 xxx much love and prayers to you both always xx
Take care 🏴❤🙏 xxx
Mary Doyle Thanks Mary! Love and prayers to you too, friend! 🥰 -Jenny
Hi Mary! Thank you! Jenny and I have so much in more to share with all of our new friends on the channel! Have a great weekend!
@@jennyandtony thank you 😊 xx you guys have a good one too xx
Thank you very much for sharing with us. My wife Amanda had a major stroke, and has just been assessed for a powerchair. the vendor brought a Permobil M3; and she took to it like a duck to water! I am very impressed by the technology involved in such a chair, it was amazing.
One last thing, I like your t-shirt (I am a science nerd)...and you're a cute couple :)
All the best from Canada!
Hi Robert! I’m sorry to hear about your wife! I am glad that she has a great powerchair though! There is so much tech that goes into these devices. I spend a lot of time researching what’s out there right now, even conceptually since I’d love to find a chair that’s more dialed in to working with my particular disability. I’m hoping Boston Dynamics gets into the exoskeleton game! Thanks for watching and we hope you’re having a great day!
Thank you for your great video!! Very informative! How easy is it for you to transfer out of if you have to slide from one seat to another?
Hi Ginny! Thanks for watching our video! Right now, I’ll be using the Permobil for driving and work. I have another wheelchair that I’ve been using for the last five years. We’re going to be covering that in another video really soon, so stay tuned! As far as transfers go, I do slide from one chair to the other and back using a transfer board. More on that as well! Hope you have a great day!
-Tony
A really useful video - very beneficial 👍👍👍👍
Hello friend! So glad you enjoyed our video! Thanks for watching!
That's amazing!
Thank you so much Asucena for watching our video! So nice to meet you!
Hey J&T im R as U C lol but more to the point. Have a power chair and for i think going on 7 or so of my going on 18 and just want to say I'm in Nova Scotia and beat the crap out of mine,or better say, take NO MERCY. Snow, light rain caught in few heavy down pours scary of the electric chair joke. Enjoy your new freedom. Never seen yet where your at but the T.C. Trails are a hoot and have a cousin shes got a 4x4, 4-wheel version i love to have but don't want to break my neck again. tty again!
Hi Randy! Welcome to our channel! That’s good to know these things can take a beating! Hope you’re having a great day!
I just got the message from my durable medical equipment provider today that I'll be getting one of these chairs I used to have to have somebody transfer me from my chair to the standing frame that I have but when I get this chair I'll be able to stand whenever I want to
Hello friend! Yes, this chair is wonderful for standing among other things it will do for you! Thanks for watching!
❤I agree with you
Looks like your having lots of fun with this chair.
I'm hoping to get one soon and trying to decide which one to buy.
Still undecided if a chair or a scooter since I can still walk a little.
Thanks for sharing.
Hi Christine! My Permobil is a lot of fun and I really like finding out ways that this chair is giving me back certain freedoms and functions that I haven’t had for years now. I’m going to do a video on the wheelchair/motion assist that I use in the house on a daily basis. It’s a Spinergy ZX-1 and there’s so much that I love about this chair as well! It’s basically a manual wheelchair that has a attachable/detachable motor. So many new chairs are out there now and are also being developed that it makes it all really exciting! I have a lot of hope that there will be a chair that comes out that lies somewhere between the chairs I’m using now. It would be perfect! Hope you’re having a great day!!
Jenny and Tony so true. So many chairs and scooters to choose from but Medicare limits your options so paying cash is a bit of a struggle too so I am definitely doing my research. I think I will be buying one and letting Medicare buy another to have a backup. That way I can leave one in the car and one in the house.
Looking forward to your upcoming videos. Keep them coming and enjoy your journey on building your channel and your community.
@@jennyandtony What is the reason or what are the reasons the Permobil is not your regular in-door chair?
Thanks for doing this review! It really helped out since I might be getting this chair soon. Question: Tony mentioned that the chair isn’t compact, so have you guys had problems with the chair navigating through tight spaces around the house or in public places like restaurants?
Hi Rajiv! Since the Permobil is my first powerchair, I’m not sure that this would be of much help. I’m coming from using a manual wheelchair with motion assist, so I really only have that as comparison. The Permobil is a lot taller I will say and deeper. But it does so much more than my manual! Our house is mostly modified for wheelchair use with widened doors and such, so it performs well there. We do have some tight spots and corners that I just needed to be more careful around, but there wasn’t a problem. I take it to work and it has no problems going where I need it to go and pulls right up under my desk with no problems! Hope this helps! Thanks for watching! Have a great day!
This was a great showcase of the electric chair! Do you worry about tracking in a lot of dirt with your wheels? How long does the charge last and how long does it take to recharge? I'd be afraid of being out and running out of juice!
Hi Lynette! Thanks for watching! Dirt has been a problem in the past, but if I know I’ve ran through dirt or mud, we’ll usually wipe the tires down in the garage which is where I come into the house. As far as the charge on the Permobil, it can go days with normal use though it’s not good for the overall battery life. For the longest battery life, it’s recommended to charge every night. That being said, I haven’t gotten to truly see how long a full charge takes, but on the day to day with normal usage, it takes maybe two-three hours. Also if I know we’ll be out and really using the wheelchair a lot, we’ll bring the charger along. Thanks for the great questions!
Great Demo! You're a beautiful couple, enjoyed watching you having fun and delighted together as new horizons abound! My Permobil '14 C500 is at 2,700 miles and used most often. I have a 2018 Quickie qm710 (denied a Permobil by the vendor my insurance directed me to - "we don't make enough profit, won't sell you one"). Mid-wheel PWC's are great for tight spaces, but lacking outdoors. A lowered-floor van is in the works and might dictate which chair is best...NAH! Your joystick is mounted on the right-side, but if you prefer that style joystick on the left, be sure to share that before ordering so paddle-switch functions can be switched at Permobil! Very nice suspension and the BEST is on the F5 as compared to the F3...no doubt my choice next PWC if needed. Everyone confined to a wheelchair, every infirmity and disease, may God heal everyone of us! In Jesus' name, Amen
Hello William! Thank you in for all of the great information! The Permobil is my first PWC, so there’s a learning curve for me still. When I switched from a manual chair to one with motion assist (Spinergy ZX-1), it was an adjustment as well. Now I can maneuver that chair with my eyes closed... very slowly and in wide spaces, lol. I feel strongly too that we will see life changing advances if not a cure within our time here on earth. God bless and take care! Stay strong!
@@jennyandtony You might consider an electric bicycle for Jenny as eighteen miles is very doable in your new PWC Tony. Julie hopped in the Permobil a few nights ago (Phoenix Valley) and we did a little over ten miles - A Blast! We agree, however, that walking, horseback-riding, bicycling, and much more is a dream that will never die - God is Great and 'who' knows what tomorrow brings. Meanwhile, "trust" that new chair to get you there and back, like no other! ps at age 65, forty years since injury; Julie and I have been together for forty-two yrs. and are blessed with our daughter Kayla, Jake (hubby) and two precious grandchildren - Colin and Roland. Life has been very good to us, may we all live fulfilled lives, love one another and never give up Hope. God Bless!
Hi Tony , I just got the same chair f5 vs , and I am 6'4 and feels great standing again
Please let me know any advice using and any modifications you had made
Hi Tollo! It does feel really good to stand!! I’m still getting used to using the power chair versus the wheelchair with power assist I’ve been using for over five years now. As far as mods, if this counts, is storage. I have a bag that stores underneath my wheelchair seat, but I’m not sure where I can store it on the f5. I have a pouch with Velcro straps In hang off of the powerchair arm that works for now. There are places where I can place a coated S hook to hang things from. Have you come across any mods yourself? Thanks for watching and have a great day!
I need this wheelchair in a mid wheel drive. Does permobile make an M5 with a stand feature?
Hi! I just got a Permobil M3 demo unit. Just to try it out. So far i like it but the first demo unit i got (Sedeo Pro Quickie Q500M) feels like it had better control when driving. At least i feel that personally. That's actually the only con i could find. With this Permobil M3 that i have now, i must say there is much more comfort and you can feel that right away. Everything from the sitting to the back support is really great! Also the arm support is much better (wider.) A lot of connectivity as well. I see that the M3 also has a "Sport" mode. Not sure how the profiles work on the M5? Anyway, i still have around 2 weeks to figure out which one i would like.
Well, eventually, i got an even better option: Sedeo Quickie Pro 700. Which is a version above the 500 (with more comfort) and a couple of options i really wanted. Like a USB connection which is nice to charge my phone! 🙂 Anyway, very happy with my choice! Thank you guy's again for the video!
Thank you for this review. Can I ask if you have been standing regularly and what benefits you might have seen? also, do you have any tips for getting funding for a wheelchair like this? thank you.
Hi friend! I’d say the biggest benefits of using the standing wheelchair outside of regaining certain functions like be able to reach things you couldn’t before would definitely be the feeling of standing itself. I want to say that standing is also good for your heart and lymphatic system as well. For funding, I have been working with our states vocational rehabilitation service. I’d start there. All our best! Thanks for watching!
Nice video guys! I wonder if you can share how long you tolerate in standing position without any discomfort? I would like to get this chair. Thanks!
Hi Helen! In the beginning, standing was something I had to build a tolerance for. Mostly because it had been such a long time since I stood. Plus, it was a little different in that I had to adjust to leaning into the support of the chair instead of my own body. Eventually got to the point where it feels normal to me now. Hope this helps! Thank you for watching and we hope you’re having a great day!
Thanks for answering my question! I appreciate it. I hope you guys are having a great day too.
Hi guys. Great video. I have saved it to show my partner who would really benefit from this. I will have to try and find where I can get one in Australia. Also need something to lift her legs in and out of bed so she can do it on her own. Loved your video 👍
Hi Steven! We hope there's a supplier in Australia that can help! Thanks for watching and all our best! - Jenny and Tony
They make similar chairs in China and they are probably much cheaper too
Wow, amazing chair! So happy that we are in a time where a chair like that is available for you Tony! Praise God!
Thank you Kimberly! It's a pretty cool chair and the one that one day will allow me to drive! Praise God indeed! Have a wonderful day!
I got my identical one. It has some tail slap. Also turning with the wheels front means getting in and out of doorways can be problematic for me
I know what you mean with the turning! I was shown a trick or better, a visual guide on where to line up in order to make a turn. I'll have to make a video where I show what I was taught. Thanks for watching! Have a great day!
I was told to make sure all the casters were lined up and stay lined up or the chair will not go through doorways correctly. I mean it will, but if the casters are at an angle, it will make life difficult. I believe Dan (Totally Normal) did a video just on this topic.
I also have an F5 and I was told and it had the seat functions as well.. only thing is when I try to toggle through the modes I only have indoor & normal.. does anyone know why it’s not coming up for me???
Hi Matheus! Have you tried contacting Permobil?
Hi Jenny & Tony, Fantastic Video !
Can you tell us about the ordering process? For instance, did you you have to raise funds or pay out of pocket for this wheelchair? Or, is this an insurance approved wheelchair? If it’s approved, can you tell us about the complexity and length of Eval, approval and ordering process of your PF5vs wheelchair? How long did the process take from beginning to end? If you were required to find a funding source, what are the most accessible funding sources for the average person to get this model wheelchair? Thanks in advance !
Hello WaterWhite Tuber! Thanks for watching the video! For the powerchair, I worked with the Louisiana Rehabilitation Service (LRS) in our parish. The process took a long time especially since delivery of the chair was delayed further because of COVID. All in all about a year and a half from the time I had my referral. The company that came out to evaluate me for the chair came out with a model that was very close to what I’m in now. I got to test drive it for a bit while they were taking measurements and getting other bits of information. For funding, there are so many options like Crowd sourcing and grants. I need to find my old notes that had sources I found. When I do, I’ll definitely share! I hope you have a wonderful day!
-Tony
@@jennyandtony Thanks for your reply Tony. I look for at least one reason to smile every day. You have provided me one just now :-)
...I would love to hear more about your funding notes (when you get a chance). I'm sure it would help others too. Can you show how your chair maneuvers in tight spaces...like turning in the bathroom? I would like to stand but I wonder about F verses M series chairs for indoor use. Either way, I'm sure that Permobil is the way to go for me.
@@WaterWhiteTuber I realize you were asking Jenny and Tony but I thought I'd chime in. I was able to find a 2018 Permobil M3 with only 1 mile on it. It clearly wasn't set up for me but I have the manuals and ability to adjust the seating. I did need to buy spare parts off of eBay but in the end it saved me a LOT of money. To answer your question on turning radius, the M series will do better than the F. And the 3 version is a little more narrow than the 5. Hope that helps.
@@CajunSmack Thank you very much. That is generally the difference between the Mid and Front wheel drive. But a mid wheel stander is not available (that I know of). I think it would tip. Thats why I am interested to see the F5vs moving about in a bathroom or other small area. If I get an M series, I won't have a stander. I need to determine if I CAN use an F series in my living space. Your comment is very much appreciated :-)
Great review of the chair just wondering if its in Canada .
Hi Tonya! Thank you! I did find this in regards to Spinergy in Canada: www.49bespoke.com/spinergy/index.php/zx-1
I hope this helps! Take care!
@@jennyandtony Thanks it sure does help .
Did you know in Canada they call TiLites Permobil Manuals? That really threw me. Anyway, to answer your question...probably. If they are 30 grand plus in the states, I'd hate to see a Canadian price 😵💫. After all, I doubt many know (besides Canucks) gas is over $7.00 a gallon here.
I am very close to pulling the trigger on buying one, but I live on a reasonably steep hill and even though I have had smooth tracks laid in all over the property, I am worried they may be too steep for the F5 and other power wheelchairs. I have been using an electric three wheeled scooter for several months to go up and down to my studio, but as my ALS is progressing, the wheelchair to scooter transfers are becoming too much of an ordeal, so I know that the change to a powered wheelchair is just around the corner. It is only this one issue of whether they will let me climb the hill that is making me hesitate. Its not a wildly steep hill, but it's not that gentle either. Any thoughts?
Hi friend! For something like this, I would totally try to get an expert opinion. I know that these powerchairs are built to work within certain parameters and the angle of the hill and tracks you’d be dealing with would definitely have to fall inside those. I would for sure speak with a Permobil representative about your needs. I hope you the best with this! Take care and stay strong!
Hi.lovely video,. How much it cost?
Hello! Thank you for watching our video! I had assistance with the chair from my state rehabilitation service. I have an amazing counselor!
Hi and thanks for sharing. My wife have a similar permobile and she have MS since 30 years back and the chair is honestly not very good for her. The joystick is way to insensitive very hard to operate for her cause her motoric skills is not very good. Also the control unit with all its options is hard for her to understand and remember what they do. It can also do all the lifting and stuff you guys show but the seat/chair cannot turn it is fixed and being able to turn the seat is pretty important in some situations. The chair she have is a little older than yours, for example there is no stand up funktion. I imported an electric wheelchair for her and she have a standup wheelchair but they are also to complecated for her to operate on her own.
Her permobile is bulkier and pretty heavy so to transport it takes a big van or a minibus. We got to keep it in the garage cause it is to big for the doorways in our house. Short story she would not be able to use it without someone helping her.
Hello friend! I know how you feel about the Permobi, but for me it's the only kind of chair I'll be able to drive from when that happens. Around the house, I use a normal wheelchair with a Spinergy ZX-1 motion assist. There are many motion assists out there, but I've found that this is the best for me. If you'd like a little more information, DM me on Instagram @tonyteel or check out:
www.spinergy.com/content/wheelchair-zx-1
I hope to hear from you! Take care, stay strong, and have a wonderful day!
One of the biggest cons is the price for me. A standard F3 comes in at around 10K, just because this can stand you up, they add another 10K to it. Seems like a rip off for just a couple extra motors and such.
Just curious...why are your leg muscles so developed? For a chair THAT expensive, you'd think they'd put on a decent seat belt/arm rests 12:35.
That's a good question. I'm neither Tony nor Jenny...but he has FSHD which is a rare muscular dystrophy affecting mainly the arms, shoulders, face...and lower legs. Maybe it just hasn't really affected his legs yet....I don't know. That is a good question though. I was wondering why they don't have carpet tape or rug grippers.
It would help if we could actually see the buttons he is pushing!
Oh yes i (now
How would one be able to afford this?
Hi Roseanne! Thanks for watching our video! The route I went for the Permobil was working with my local Vocational Rehabilitation Service. I’ve been working with them for years now and have a wonderful counselor. Since my goal has been to find work, they have helped me come up with plans to do just that. This is a process and it does take a long time, so if you’re in more of an immediate need, finding funds through crowdsourcing might be a better alternative. The only other way I can think of is talking with you doctor and having one prescribed and then seeing if it’s something that Medicare or insurance can help with. I hope this helps! Have a great day!
@@jennyandtony if you are over 55 and want to leave a house to a child, I would NOT recommend insurance because Medicaid or Medical does have a real estate recovery program in which they can and will take your home if you are over 55 and use ANY of their programs. Its called the Medicaid Real Estate Recovery program.
Are you suffering of back pain ?
Hi Mickaël! Nice to meet you and thanks for watching our video! I actually don’t suffer from back pain or any kind of chronic pain that many others living with FSHD deal with.
Jenny and Tony Nice to meet you too !Good to hear ! Next week I’m gonna try the F5 VS. I saw on the video that you have the barrier holding the torso, I’m afraid it will hurt my back but I guess Permobil has standard barrier for free moving torso (in option) like I have on the C400 VS.
And do you have difficulties accessing home and restaurants tables with the F5 ? According the brochure it’s lower than C400. Thank you.
