      The Pathfinder is great, I used to own the guitar version, and now use the bass version(yea, it works beautifully for guitar too!) I’m more interested in the cleans, and the Pathfinder series is superb for that. Honestly, the gain channels on all of these small practice amps are pretty much the can ‘o bees type, but if you dial in a great tone on the clean channel, then use the pedal of your choice, things get MUCH better.

    I own this little Marshall with a curious history. I went to a guitar shop to buy a new guitar and tested several of them, all that guitars sounded so great and I though myself my guitars were crap. Then I've bought a nice one, came home so excited to play, but at the first strum I've realized that my new guitar also sucked out. I came back to the guitar shop and then found out what was gone. I felt in love for the amp, not for the guitar. This little box is amazing.

      @margarethouse404 Před rokem

      This .
      In the test segment with Line Out , the Fender Frontman was significantly Less Worse than thru the speaker . The speaker is definitely the limiting factor .
      Undoubtedly it would be much improved with with a speak upgrade . The stock speaker can do cleans with both tone knobs centered . But move up or down , and tone quickly gets thin and weak .
      I suspect a major portion of Frontman 10 W amps are sold as part of starter combo packs . Hard to imagine someone delibertly paying suggested retail price for one .
      If you aquired it for " free " , or someone gave it to you after they upgraded amps , or you paid $20 for it used , it could be worth it to swap speakers .
      If you're buying new at list price ; take the price of the amp , plus price of decent replacement speaker , and just get a less worse amp in the first place .
      On that theme - As a catagory . basic SS 15W practice amps are much better sounding than their 10W counterparts .

      I agree. Get yourself a reverb pedal. When I first started I had a practice amp like these and the distortion channel sounded fine, but whenever I did clean I couldn't understand why it sounded so flat and dry. It didn't sound anything like the bands riffs I was learning. A little reverb (or a lot if you want) changes everything. You could probably get one of those cheap small chinese ones for 30 bucks.
