A very effective machine. That should serve him for years to come. Obviously a ton of time went into the refinement of this.
Yep took him a while to build
Hey, brother. Your friend is obviously super-talented. That splitter is amazing. Please tell him I wish him the very best with his future endeavors With his obvious brilliance in design and manufacture. God bless you coma coma chip
Thanks will do!
Wow for a home build to be a commercial grade splitter is more than impressive jake.hats off and two thumbs up 👍 from me. Hope you get him to build your next splitter. Would be awesome
It’s a very impressive machine Bob! He has two more motors waiting for new builds… holding off till she’ll prices drop more!
Very cool. Looks well done! Everyone needs to know people like him. I hope it works well for him for many years to come!
It’s pretty cool! Has worked well for a few seasons now!
Real quality fabricator, Very nicely built machine I'm impressed 👍😎
Jake, your frend is very tallented! He made that jus as beefy as Andrew Easton makes his! That machine is very impressive! God Bless
He sure is! I think that’s where he got a lot of his inspiration!
liked it? I loved it. He did a great job on it.
I will definitely share this with him! Thanks for watching Andrew.
I’m impressed Jake, your friend is quite the fabricator, although there is way more to the build than just fabrication. Great video!
That’s for sure!
Jake, great machine… I love my commercial purchased box wedge splitter, would never have anything but the box wedge… tell your buddy great job, and thanks for all of your content… Tim in Virginia…😊
I definitely like to get a Splitter capable of handling a box wedge in the future! Thanks for watching!
Very impressed with the homemade log splitter. Your friend has the ability to create income from whatever he can conceive and build.
Yes he’s very talented!
Great wood splitter. I am sure a lot of thought went into building it, good job.
Very cool splitter. The engineering that went in to building it is really impressive. I was wondering if there would be an issue with wood binding up under the top plate until you showed that it raises up. Really thought out well! Love to know more about the choice of a 27 or 28hp motor…. That thing must push over 25 ton easily!
It’s a very cool machine! He went with the 28hp Kawasaki due to availability. I’m not sure what tonnage it’s pushing but it gets the job done!
Kind of looks like an Eastonmade with a box wedge, the log lift looks much the same. Nicely done. Cheers
Yep he used Eastonmades for inspiration!
That’s sweet! Your friend has some great talent 👍👍
Just massive! Even the commercial30 40 ton log splitters you see do not have a sled close to that heavy! Just truly massive!
Impressive, very well done. Great machine
Wow , he is very talented! That’s a rare thing for someone to have those types of skills & can solve problems in that way . I would like to have his talent . Great job !
I learn a lot from him every time we are together. Talent and vision like his is not common!
Looks great, I’ll be glade to try it
Hey Jake ! Catfish here ! Pretty impressive machine Dude ! I can build a … campfire ! So there !
Lol I’m in the same boat as you!
Jake: Your friend has a great talent in fabricating. I'm blessed to have a few of them myself, in the community. Have been on the road, so I have a couple more to get to.
He’s very skilled!
Hello Jake, A very well built splitter, A lot of Thought was put into its design 🤙🚜🪵🇺🇸
Yep he spent a lot of time on it!
Very impressive build Jake. Your friend is obviously very talented.
He really is, very good at stuff like that!
Count me in I would buy one! Super job.
Very well done!
Very nice! That’s a $12k splitter all day long
Currently sourcing parts to build myself one. Apperciate the video. Gives me ideas and inspiration.
Good luck!
Well done, that’s a great splitter.
Thanks, it’s sure is a cool machine he built!
Wow. Thats very impressive. Good job filming, Jake.
Thank you!
Crazy talent!
Great looking splitter. Hats off to your friend!!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thanks 👍
Very Nice Splitter
I like this. Gonna have to add this to a list of things i need to build. Would love to see a detailed video on this machine with the owner
It was hard enough convincing him to let me take this video 😂
@DudeRanchDIY I understand. Maybe he will warm up to the idea. I think a video like that would get a ton of views. Lots of diy'ers out there.
That is one serious splitting machine. Beautifully executed! Well done!👍
He did a fantastic job building this one, especially for only going off pictures he found on the internet!
Good job to ur buddy for that build
Ive built a few myself that is a nice setup 1 critique its a little slow but thats easily fixed nice job
That is a beast. Nicely done.
Sure is!
super cool machine man very well built as well
Great splitter! Dude is a genius!
Agreed!
impressive!
Wow that's a awesome splitter but I cant get over the amount of waste from those box wedges
The box wedge definitely makes some scrap but it has its perks!
Very impressed myself. It really slices and dices that wood. He did a GREAT JOB in biilding that splitter. Does he sell them yet?
Not at the moment!
Those are all impressive stats on the splitter. After talking with him are there any things he wishes he could have gone and made even bigger or better short of being a processor?
I know he wants to speed it up, by changing the cylinder. Other than that he’s made some changes and tweaks from when it was initially “done” but I think it will always be a work in progress 😂
Extremely impressive build quality for a home built machine. Only thing holding thst splitter back from being fast is the cylinder. But such a cylinder is expensive. Wonder how much the ones that Wolfe Ridge and Eastonmade use cost?
He is going to be putting a new faster cylinder on it in the future!
that machine was awesome!!!!! it was a beast
That’s sweet.
Good job like it
He did a great job look's good
I like it! I'm super impressed also! It looks like that big Kaw could stand a bigger pump, but sometimes you have to run what ya' brung!! I'd like to know how he did it. I've built 8 splitters, #8 is pretty impressive, but I still can't do what he's done!
Yep the 28gpm is what he has now, waiting on a faster cylinder to arrive.
The way the wedges elevate has GOT to be patentable! I'm still impressed. It looks like it came out of a union shop, or maybe an Amish blacksmith!
Makes short work of those rounds. I notice lots of small stuff with box wedges which is good for starter stuff 😊
Yep the box wedges do tend to make some scraps.
Your friend is quite a craftsman. The splitter appeared to be very heavy duty. How would you compare it to your Ruggedmade splitter, especially to cycle time, capacity, and durability? It seemed to split the hardwoods with ease. Great video
It’s extremely heavy duty. Not really in the same class as the ruggedmade as far as comparison. It has a 28 gallon per minute pump and 28 hp motor while the RuggedMade has a 13 hp motor with a 22 gallon per minute pump. My ruggedmade might be a little faster on the cycle time at the moment but he is planning on putting a different cylinder on to speed his up. His machine is overall much larger than the RuggedMade and much heavier duty.
So is this a hint of things to come? 😉 That is one nice setup!
Id definitely like a box, wedge splitter in the future!
That’s awesome. We can all build something.
Splitter to log: To the death chamber with you!
Log: But I promise not to burn much.
Splitter: Squish.
Log: But I prom ....
lol
Thoughts on converting the rugged made to box wedge?
I’d like to but I think it would take a lot of beefing up and reinforcing to handle the added stresses of a box wedge.
Do you know how many inches apart he put his wedges on the box? I made one as well and having trouble with it
I do not the ones I have on my Eastonmade vary from about 3.5” - 2” depending which I am running
hi he sure did a nice job of the build
He went to the ocean , caught an octopus, and set it on top of a riding lawnmower 😁😁😁 f jb 😊😊
Jake your buddy should maybe look into a patent on his splitter and start making more also he could possibly do some fixing on your splitter ❤😮😊👍
I don’t think he really wants to “sell” then, he has said I could be a potential customer though…!
Thats an awesome machine is he building you a bad ass one
Haha not at the moment, it’s been talked about
Just an idea I enjoy your videos. But if you had a lot of wood to spit wood you give it a run just to see what it would put out. It might make a good video
Impressive. Has he entertained the idea of building and selling them?
Maybe buy that one to replace the Rugged Made which would fund his next build.
He doesn’t want to “sell” them, he has a few new motors on the shelf he said he’d build others for the right person. Or to improve upon his current design.
Great splitter
Naw man I can't give a like ! To damn impressive. Puts anything from the box stores to shame. Awwwsome fab werk!
Haha that’s for sure!
Looks like an Eastonmade nock off lol. Good job looks great 👍
That’s kinda the idea! 😂
Great splitter. I would be curious to know how much he payed for the parts and materials and how many hours he had into building it. Doesn't really matter, when you build it yourself you get alot of satisfaction from a job well done . My splitter is only a single wedge but I built it from parts and materials I had and some given to me. I only have about 130 dollars in to it. So now you know I'm a cheapskate.
He bought all the steel and parts before the pandemic when prices were down. Not quite sure how much he has in it total.
Seems a bit slow on the cylinder action. Can it be adjusted for faster speed? Should do something about the out feed abilility. Otherwise it's a grand machine!
He’s since gotten a different cylinder
Awesome splitter! I’m thinking of building my own someday soon. Not sure how big I want to go. Do you happen to know how much $ he has into that splitter?
It’s hard to say. He bought most of the materials before the pandemic.
If he had his own CZcams channel I would watch him.
That looks a lot like my splitter, but only Grey.
Yep not too far off!
She wish I had some dimensions of what he used. Very impressive I'm going to try to build one myself.
Awesome job on the build but watching your speed it’s extremely slow for 28 gpm.. I would check looks almost like it’s stuck in low speed high pressure mode.. Or is that a bigger cylinder then normal or looks?
The final cylinder he ordered was not delivered at the time I filmed this video. He finally received the proper cylinder and it is much faster now.
It looks like he has $2000 just in hydraulic hoses!
There’s a lot going on there!
What was the speed of splitter. It was impressive
Very cool splitter do you have a blueprint? and how much money did you spend to build this machine?
No blueprint, my friend based it off the Eastonmade 22-28
Cheese shredder
It looked good. I don’t know but didn’t look it was making much debris
Well done maybe he should build and sell a couple ram needs to be a little faster on return
He has a few motors waiting for new builds. By no means going to “sell” them. I know he’s looking into a larger cylinder with bigger rod to speed it up.
very talented builder,,and neat work,,getting nosey,,COST to build yourself ?? $6500 ??
What would he charge to build one for someone and what is the ton pressure? Thank you
He doesn’t build them for anyone, somewhere in the 30 ton range
I'm impressed with the spliter tell him to build u one
Haha that might be an option!
It's a nice spliter he did a great job with that
I’m sure someone is going to want to know how much it will cost to make them one
Not for sale!
That's thing looks like a brute.
What was the size of his new hydronic ram
Couldn’t tell you off the top of my head. I believe it had a larger rod to help speed it up
Nice job if u we’re to sell it how much
No idea not my machine
Why can't anyone build a quiet splitter? Goddamn racket. How about a silenced engine enclosure?
Won’t get much quieter than this…
