    • @aliencactus720
      @aliencactus720 Před rokem

      @@bryancorcoran760 Yes, sadly, there is a minority of knuckleheaded welsh 'far right' which is ironic as Welsh Independence is considered a 'far left' thing, but people hardly understand what is left and right anymore anyway. Though, I think it is a big mistake, or there is an agenda, for the owners to comment about Welsh independence as they have done.
      They have nothing to do with the social ecology and history of Wales, nor the politics. They should really stay out of Welsh nationalism ( English nationalism is considered 'racist' by some Welsh nationalists, which is a hypocrisy).
      To be fair, it is good to have Welsh nationalism, why not, let's have regional independence in England as well, why not.
      Though, sad that in 2023, some idiotic people do still equate an "English person" with "The British Ruling Class" -which is a brainless assumption. Lucky it is only a minority.
      Wonder why the owners are happy to bumlick King Charles and welcome him to the Racecourse and then witter about Welsh Independence ?

    'On the Ball City' is better, ;-) as well as it is the oldest football song still sung in the world. First written for Norwich CEYMS in the late 1800s, used for the clubs that birthed Norwich City FC, Norwich Caley's (former Chocolate Factory), Norwich Teachers, also probably, Carrow FC, Thorpe FC, then re-written and recorded for the new Norwich City FC in 1902.
    Maybe someone should come and help Norwich out for that reason alone ? 🙂
    czcams.com/video/jPVn9eLOkF0/video.html - you can hear the singers Norfolk accent.

      @@northwalesmod I guess you meant: "what the heck has that . . ." ?
      It's clearly an adopted football song. 🙂 Released in 1983. 81 years after people were singing On the Ball City.
      Has nothing to do with it at all.
      You'll Never Walk Alone is the cheesiest ever song, so Yma of Hyd is better than that - but I think Wrexham should sing Super Furry Animals songs instead

      @@aliencactus720 With all due respect, you’re talking out of your ….. hat (to be polite). The song has been adopted as a Welsh football anthem but it has a lot deeper meaning for us. It’s not just a case of choose a catchy tune, it’s a folk song about the Welsh persevering in the face of adversity, it’s a song of pride in our culture and country.

    • @aliencactus720
      @aliencactus720 Před rokem

      @@danwilliams7423 It was a tongue in cheek comment. I was joking old bor (mate in Norfolkese ) . I don't think one is better than the other in fact.
      On the ball city is a different style, the original and the modern version with the fans, which is faster. Though even the early one, was more like a fun folky / piano musical hall style typical of the early 1900s when it was recorded.
      This song is much more a folky ballad with more of a hymnal quality.
      Since the 70s, On the ball city, has become much more a short blasty punchy boom, It was sung a bit slower prior.
      If you visit Carrow Road one day, IF Wrexham go to the Championship, OR Norwich go down and IF Wrexham go to League One season , then, you will hear it if you have not and draw your own conclusions !
      czcams.com/video/jPVn9eLOkF0/video.html
      By the way, the oldest song still sung continuously at football matches. Originally it was a local song used by people at a few different Norwich clubs, who's members got together and formed the 'City' club
      Norwich, Swifans, Norwich Caley's ( a chocolate factory ) Norwich Carrow Works, Norwich Teachers - they all had version of the song, so it dates to around 1880 - but the lyrics were different for each team, when it was recorded in 1902, for City, the lyrics were written by Albert Smith, a director of the club - singer unknown, though obviously a local as his accent is a Norwich one.
      It is certainly much older if not anything else and the older style lyrics reflect that.
      Keep you troshin bor !
