It just means companies always obey the law of their host country. And congress already knows that, so it's just political theater because they ready decided to ban tiktok. Making it as if ByteDance, and not the CCP, is at fault. This way other American tech companies will have less conpetitors.

The senator is not wrong. China has pure dominance over any company that has an office based in China. Think what he should’ve asked is if there is a Chinese wall to segregate data between Chinese consumers vs non-Chinese consumers - most US companies have this built to prevent China from taking sensitive data.
Considering the performance just past, it's important for Mr. Chew to clarify his nationality first at that moment of time. Otherwise, he might get interrogated harder and harder.
What has nationality got to do with loyalty to CCP Mr Chew ? Even American citizens were caught in the past spying for the CCP ! And yes, you are Singaporean, but you are ethnic Chinese. That's how the Committee looked at you.
you are contradicting yourself, if americans are also caught for spying for the CCP then nationality or race has nothing to do with loyalty to the CCP. its the person's integrity and the benefits of doing so
@Irone that's exactly my point !, Why would Mr Chew even mention that he was a Singaporean, which was totally irrelevant, when questioned about CCP's influence over him ??! As if to give the silly impression that he would not be influenced by CCP just because he was a Singaporean ?? Anyway, that's not the only irrelevant answers he gave throughout the hearings. Dodging a Yes and No question would just make him look dumb. Did he really think that the Committe had not gone through all the facts and evidence against tik tok before the hearing ?

What has nationality got to do with loyalty to CCP Mr Chew ? Even American citizens were caught in the past spying for the CCP ! And yes, you are Singaporean, but you are ethnic Chinese. That's how the Committee looked at you.
Plenty...it will not go unpenalised in Singapore if you are a Chinese spy? Are foreigners working for US companies spies ?!😊
you are contradicting yourself, if americans are also caught for spying for the CCP then nationality or race has nothing to do with loyalty to the CCP. its the person's integrity and the benefits of doing so
@Irone that's exactly my point !, Why would Mr Chew even mention that he was a Singaporean, which was totally irrelevant, when questioned about CCP's influence over him ??! As if to give the silly impression that he would not be influenced by CCP just because he was a Singaporean ?? Anyway, that's not the only irrelevant answers he gave throughout the hearings. @@CLXH You implying him as a Chinese hence a CCP loyalist is what Contradicts your claim that nationality and race has nothing to do with being controlled by the CCP.
