This run has some of my favorite moments ever, Eternity in chains, Blue Marvel one shotting the Ultimate Hulk, and that splash page of the Ultimate Ultimates.

@@iskathegr8 Well to be fair ultimate Hulk is nowhere near as powerful as mainstream Hulk, plus he was also not shown to be enraged at the time. Ultimate Hulk has also ben over powered by ultimate Thor, Ben Grimm, and Hercules in the past so him being K.O'd by Blue Marvel is not very surprising.
After watching this I have lost all respect for Marvel comics and I thought X men was bad. WOW.
@@neganrex5693 I seriously doubt youve been reading Marvel comics, post Secret Wars stories are some of the best ones, while allowing things like the Ultimate line, which had awesiome stories despite being badly executed, and 2099 to come back with their previous pasts but with a modern flavor.
Theyre really some of the best setup storylines, which were expanded on Infinity Wars
I like blue marvel but hes a deus machina, the worst kind. The only reason he exists, is to solve any problem. Thats the difference between him and any superman character, and why i dislike him when hes in a story (while liking his design).
Galactus was also “cured” of his hunger in the M2 universe. He was fused with the Silver Surfer and also became a life bringer in that universe too.
Whoa wait, but isn't Silver Surfer a fraction of Galactus power.

You know, they really need a whiteboard with important characters on it that they can say "hey, I'm using this guy. Nobody touch them until I'm done with this arc."
Rob back then was more mellow and told more of the story. Now he's more energetic but goes off the story. Personally, I like both ways but I wish he'd make a video like his old ones every now and then. Some stories may call for energy while others more mellow.

I actually miss his old opening music. I understand you get more time for explaining without it but there was just something to it that got me pumped for some comics lore

I’m actually enjoying marvel for trying to recontextualize and make more sense out of its cosmic lore.

The living Tribunal is supposed to be number 2 on the marvel power scaling outside of Thanos with the infinity gauntlet/heart of the universe and the beyonders nobody should be able to stop him.

I think the evolution of Galactus through this is awesome. Galactus is given a lot of personality. I also love how this shows just on what power level the molecule man is at right now. Casually creating an entire Omniverse in a box, just to make a point? He's definitely far stronger than pre-retcon.
An older Franklin Richards would be a perfect fit for being a team member on 'The Ultimates'.

Al Ewing was clearly trying to be the next Jim Starlin or Dan Abnett, but like Jonathan Hickman before him, everything he did was pretty much reset. At least we got to keep Goldlactus.
Might want to look into Infinity Wars Countdown. Some changes have been made to "Goldlactus."
He should write the cosmic stuff he's great at it. If I were Marvel have him and Dan Avnett run that entire corner.
Give Al Ewing Carol Danverse, Silver Surfer, Nova (Sam Alexander) and Darkhawk,
Give Abnett Adam Warlock, Nova(Richard Rider), Guardians of the Galaxy, and Blue Marvel and Alpha Flight (they should really take Carol off that team and add Adam and Monica since they fit that team better)

To be honest, I came for the beautiful Kenneth Rocafort art.
He didn't do enough and got lazy in the actual books.

@justin medford I wasn't talking about the ultimate universe comics, I meant the 616 Ultimates, lead bu the Blue Marvel. The only book that kept the silver surfer level cosmic storytelling. Some of Marvels best work.
Of the Ultimate universe i only read Miles Morales Spider-Man, not Parker. Good, but i prefered the ultimate avengers/ultimates. The later Xmen were good too.
At 42:10 the propane they use is Strickland propane. So dope they put that in their. And also this ended absolutely horribly such a quick anticlimactic ending to such a epic event.
Pretty amazing. I'm a big fan of this channel now. Ultimates is a title I struggled with for a while. I understand it so much better now.
Anytime I see Thanos "Captured" I wonder if/how/where he poops. asking the real questions.

Have you ever thought of covering H.P. Lovecrafts books? It would be cool to hear you explain the Call of Cthulhu or any of his books. The lore behind his cult horror is amazing. You could also explain the influence of H. P. Lovecrafts novel on modern entertainment. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dunwich Building and Point Lookout in Fallout 3 and many more.
And all the Lovecraft lore I marvel. Cthulhu has appeared a couple times. Shuma Gorath is basically yog Sothoth. And don’t forget the tentacled creature from the opening of guardians of the galaxy 2

I notice there are 2 volumes. Volume 1
has issues #1-5 and Volume 2 has issues #6-12.

12 issues ( Vol 4) & then 10 (Vol 5).
The comment at 26:27 about Thanos trashing all of The Ultimates individually isn't correct. At no time does Blue Marvel engage Thanos directly. Blue Marvel hangs back with T'Challa and Monica as Captain Marvel and MAC tag team Thanos. This was a key issue with many readers who felt that Ewing never gave Blue Marvel enough showings, while at the same time establishing that Anti-Man was exponentially more powerful, despite the fact that both men's powers are derived from the same exact source. It was the equivalent of the Justice League fighting Darkseid without Superman ever entering the fray. Pathetic. Note: As powerful as Anti-Man is, Blue Marvel has beaten his ass by himself on several occasions. Thanos would have wished that he had a Cosmic Cube on hand by the time that Blue Marvel was done with him, IF the writer had the courage to pen him properly.

It's just that they were writing Connor as a cosmic (like a Herald not like Eternity) and no one has ever written BM the same.
So it seemed at least Anti-Man has BM beat in versatility.
@@VLorenzoStone Conner has Adam beat in terms of the favorable writer's pen. That's it. Consider that Adam and Conner are two sides of the same coin. One is stable (Adam), the other unstable (Conner). Galactus making Conner his herald did not in any way affect his powers, just his lucidity and mental clarity. In other words, Galactus made Conner stable, which is what Adam was and is all along. Under Ewing's pen Conner was allowed to display his full range of abilities. Adam? Not so much, which is ridiculous. Both men can do the same thing, from god-like strength, to impenetrable force fields, to manipulation of molecules and subatomic particles, to the "limitless" energy reserves at their command. I get it: Sometimes villains get the edge, as where heroes are mostly bland until pushed. But Adam's treatment is borderline egregious. Ewing started something that has followed Adam even into the pages of the current Doom series, where he seems mostly inept and out of place. It's sad. Marvel doesn't do really powerful heroes well, but they are especially horrible when it comes to doing powerful African American men justice. This sort of thing doesn't happen to Sentry, Thor, Hulk, etc., unless it's a plot device. It's laughable.

I personally restarted with the new 52 then to rebirth. For all. Batman year one I think is an alternate earth I could be wrong. Regardless new 52 restarted the canon if I'm recalling correctly but I just got back into comics. So I'm definitely not the most knowledgeable

I was very hurt when 1) Ultimates became Ultimate Squared bcz the artwork became utter garbage. Like who tf ok'd going from Kenneth Rocafort to whoever they allowed to throw up on the pages Of Ultimate Squared & 2) Marvel ended the comic bcz it was seriously one of the best things coming out of Marvel.
Nathaniel Clark I just got into The Ultimates earlier this year, bought them off eBay. Squared artwork took a dive Imo.
