My Hero 7 is sweet! It's still expensive now, at about $230 in 2020, but it's great. Great voiceover quality btw. Well done

6:55 does anyone else notice how the image loses SHARPNESS when the ND filter is on, and the Codec starts to Artifact (probably due to Low Light) ? GoPro is designed for High Light Situations, better to use without an ND filter - especially one that reduces the sharpness of the Image.
Yes, this is notable, because I was down in the forest, and it was not a very bright day. The ND filters are best to be used with Pro-tune mode, when you have fixed shutter speed and the day is really sunny. But - yeah - you are right to say that you have to be careful with the usage. 👻
You can't buy the cheap filters ... buy Polar Pro and you won't have these problems.

Those mounts are available, I have several. A few that would mount a DSLR to a GoPro style mount and a few that mount a GoPro to a tripod.
I think there is also a screw thing u can by to change the size of the screw

I have the 7 Black. I bought 5 aftermarket batteries on Amazon. No issues so far. And they came w a 3 battery charger.

I finally broke down and got a GoPro, or rather get one as a gift from my wife. I love it. I think my favorite part is the voice activation, if you're in the middle of the video you can say oh s*** and it will actually mark the spot. :)
Definitely worth it to have an action camera if you do a lot of hiking or traveling.
I think it's pretty crappy that you can't buy aftermarket battery that works phenomenal though

Great video. Just found out last night though, your back touch screen will loose touch capability with a screen protector once it gets really cold and just a tad wet from snow. Removing the protection gave me full access back. Still mad props for recommending them though. Don’t want to scratch that front lens. I do a lot of steel wool photography, so yeah, good call.

At 2:25 GoPro states in their manual that you can not shoot and charge the battery at the same time. "Even though your camera is plugged in, the battery will not charge during recording. It will start charging when you stop recording. You cannot record while charging with a computer."

After playing a bit with that feature - looks like if you have a connected power bank while recording it will maintain the current charge, but not really charge it, just as stated.

Is the hero 7 white battery any difference from the hero 7 black battery?
WesleyAPEX The battery on the White is in fact internal. It’s not replaceable. I bought one for my daughter and when I realized there was no battery door, I found it kind of strange. Nonetheless the White is a good camera 👍🏻
@@Matt__Kemp sorry mate. Cant agree with you. Gopro 7 white (and silver for that matter)are not worth it. For the same price and cheaper one can get much better cameras like yi 4k or yi 4k+. Hero 7 white lacks changeable battery, cant do hypersmooth or timewarp so it is extremely expensive for such a random weak camera not even mentioning the lower resolution. Maybe for kids is enough but for that price it is not good.

Araujot our stories I agree completely, for what I like to use my GoPro for( which is a hero 5 black.. it’s going strong haha) something like the 7 black would be worth it. The 7 white however is very limited. I bought one for my oldest to use for vlogging, and for that it works just fine. Thank you for your feed back 👍🏻

Aaron Mattheus our of the box I think the 7 white has better quality. Granted you’re only limited to 1080 or 1440 in wide only. So you are definitely limited. With the 5 black you have more options for recording and even frame rates.
If you just want an out of the box ready to shoot with no worries about different settings... get the 7 white.

Thanks to this Video I picked up the Fotopro UFO tripod. And I love it so far... easy to wrap around things and very nice locking head so it can hold any position... Thanks for this great Video....

I feel that there won't be such a big improvement in terms on specs like how Hero 6 to Hero 7 did. I am planning to get a Hero 7 today as well.
Yeah, the market is now well saturated, and it is hard to be surprised by new generations. Still - expectations from the Hero 8 are rather high.
GoPole makes an excellent battery for GoPro cameras and dual charger on the cheap.

Most of the chargers are good, no need to spend too much on the originals.
GoPro seem to integrate protection to their original batteries and perhaps this is both on hardware and firmware level. The third-party batteries I have (two different cheap brands, 10 and 15 USD respectively) have the same behavior - where the battery percentage is not stable - changes every second - goes up and down all the time and it is hard to guess the exact level.
That's why the original batteries are a good deal - they cost kind of twice more, but are fine.

Literally the number one accessory for the Hero 7 Black is an aluminum cage to stop the overheating issues.
Have you seen the Hero 7 shutting down due to overheating? It can get very warm, but I haven't seen it shutting down due to being hot.

Well, on the batteries I just go the opposite ... all aftermarket batteries are better than the gopro ones. I bought 2 original ones (for €20 before they went up to 30 again) and they can barely hold the charge for a couple of days. The aftermarket from Patona (which I also use for all my other cams) work much better. I made the same experience already with the Hero 2 and 3 and thought they would finally have it down - but sadly no.
Additionally with the Hero 7 Stabilization you should be wary with ND filters as they lower the shutter speed (I know you "want" that) and it impacts the EIS largely. They need at least a 1/500 to anticipate the movement, if you cut it down the stabilization will be turned off. Making the video shakier and less cinematic - assuming you want lower shutter speeds for the motion blur
Hey, very interesting statement about the batteries. I will certainly try Patona as per your recommendation.
I had an issue with the Hero 7 battery and the GoPro team has replaced it with ... Hero 5 battery. So maybe the slightly older batches are much better than the newer batches.
THanks for the ND filter note - indeed the motion blur was the idea, but mostly - wanted to highlight the idea that we may use color grading filters - like underwater. Couldn't shoot that, as it is pretty cold at this time of the year for swimming outdoors 🤡😊

This stuff is perfect I am a professional videographer and I have a GoPro max 2 gopro hero 7s and 4 GoPro hero 8s yes I use mostly GoPros and drones but I also have 2 canon cameras.

@@TechMishka Went with the Hero6 I had already had an Akaso, but I don't feel I was getting true hd quality video from it, despite all advertising and other reviewers saying that it does up to 4k....I just didn't see it. Saw it immediately when I recorded with the Hero6. So....yep!
Why do you need filters? If you need color correction - you can do post processing in some Video Editor app.
Some people prefer to use the good old rule about having the shutter being twice the FPS (if you shoot 30FPS, you keep the shutter at 60). In order this to be possible and not to get too overexposed image, you will need filters.
Unfortunately, lowering the shutter speed will decrease the effectiveness of the stabilization.

The Osmo Pocket requires more configuration and more attention because of the focus capabilities. I believe the Hero 7 is much easier to use out of the box. Both are good for different purposes;
I think I still like the GoPro Hero 7 Much better.

Camera light? Try googling for Aputure AL-M9 - in my opinion it is the best from the not too expensive options.
A side note about the chinese knockoff accessories kits... they tend to dry out and crack apart _very_ easily, and least in Arizona.

Can this freewell battery charger can be used to charge other brand battery for action camera like eken or firefly or model is limited to be used only for GoPro?
If the connectors fit it will do it, however there are not too many batteries with the same connector type.
Hi there, in need of quick consultation - how valuable it is to get the go pro version with GPS?
If you are going to ride a bike and potentially track the route - it may possibly help. However - the GPS function is not too nicely integrated (no way to see current speed on the video, etc). Thing is that the GoPro Black has much better video performance than the white/silver. It's quite a good time to get one - prices are heavily discounted these days.
Another good alternative to check is the DJI Osmo Action.

Any smartphone gimbal will be fine. Right now - iSteady Mobile 2.

I was trying with a portable battery pack and it at least maintains the charging level. Could be that newer versions support charging. The Hero 8 does that at least.

You simply put it in the original bracket, which has 1/4 screw and then attach it to the UFO.

Luv my Eken H5s + & GoPro Hero 7 Black it's my travel companion including the Lumix LX10. I too thought GP7 was not worth it but after owning one I can say it's worth it in many cases to get really good shots. No problems with my GP7 until now thank goodness.
We seem to have similar taste :-) Believe it or not - I used to have Lumix LX 2 a long time ago. It still is among my favorite cameras, together with the HP Photosmart 735.

6:52 No filter looks at least 10x better.
It usually does. The rule to fps/shutter speed is to add slight motion blur for “cinematic effect”.
And note that it is shot with bad lighting conditions it was a long period of time without sunshine. 🙂😇 On daylight it will look better.
The actual disadvantage of using the motion blur rule is the stabilization - it looks shakier.

Most of the battery charger packs will be fine - look for something with good feedback and go for it.

You can disable the feature - usually it doesn't power up when you connect the power.
My lens and screen protector keeps getting air bubbles in it. Any tips to help get them out.
You can try to patiently push them to the edges - that's the only way...

You can charge batteries using the camera itself, or go for the cheaper no-name alternatives. Most of them will be just fine.

It is waterproof up to 10m depth. If you want to dive deeper - get a case.

For GoPro your only option is to use the special external mic adapter. Then options are really a lot.
