    It turned out to be a pretty awesome find, but what do you think... worth picking one of these Les Pauls up?

    I have the cherry bust model of this Epi Trad Pro. The neck pup is an EPI Alnico Classic and the bridge is the Epi pro bucker 3. Mine is little lighter at about 8.5 lbs. These are fantastic guitars...the specs on them are what all the guitar nerds want at a fraction of the price. I bought mine used and it came with a case suitable for checked baggage! I believe that these were custom made for large retailers. Mine is from 2014. And, yes, the neck is huge! Epi calls the shape a Slim Taper D. You are right about the volume pots, they are dime sized. Based on the price, it is great platform to mode. I have had two or three different sets of pups and have changed the switch. I have upgraded pots waiting to go in. Nice Video. thanks!

      Nice! I totally agree, I bought this one on a whim as it was relatively cheap and worth taking a risk on. I was very surprised at how great it is. I didn't know much about it before picking it up. The massive neck was a fantastic bonus. Like you, I might do some internal mods eventually. But for anyone keeping it stock... grover tuners, coil tapping, smooth finish for fast playing... the list goes on. The list of cool features is killer. This model is definitely a gem. Keep rockin' 🤘🎸

    I’ve been real happy with my higher end Epis. Some stock & some with pickup swaps.

      Nice, I thought I would want to switch the pickups in this, but I'm actually pretty happy with them. They have much more bite than I was expecting which I really like. Now I just need to get my hands on a Gibson Falcon 5... keep rockin'

    Any different from the Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro IV ?

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar  Před 3 měsíci +1

      From what I can find, it looks like the Pro IV has different, worn finishes rather than the gloss top on my original Pro. The neck might also be a slightly different profile. I've seen quoted a few times slim taper C vs the D on my Pro. As mentioned in my video though, take slim taper with a pinch of salt. The neck on this one is one of the fattest I've tried, which to me feels awesome. It's worth getting the guitar in your hands if you can to test if it suits you. The Pro IV does seem to be an excellent guitar from what I've read, having not owned a Pro IV yet. They knocked it out the park with this range. I do love and enjoy playing my original Pro. It's a really nice chunky Les Paul.

    I like the look of the Zebra pickups. But isn't he '59 Standard "Inspired By Gibson" Limited Edition LP still at the top of the Epi non-signature LP line?

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, I think so. The '59 is a great instrument and I can't think of anything non-signature that tops it. The Trad Pro is much cheaper though these days if you can find a good used one and sounds great stock. The signature models run into all sorts of crazy money now, even rivalling Gibson cost. Epiphone Greeny, ouch!

    Cool strap.

    It should have a dB. boost in one of the tone knobs.

      Ah, that's a cool feature. I think that's definitely on the Pro II version from what I can find, maybe on later models too. It seems to need a 9v battery. This one is the Pro I version which doesn't have the battery compartment so looks like it doesn't include this extra. I want one now though! It would be interesting to see the difference it makes.

    Made in China. Next!

    • @appetiteforguitar
      @appetiteforguitar  Před 5 měsíci +3

      Moral grounds or quality? This specific guitar is objectively well made, plays well and sounds good. If 'made in China' was removed, it would be nigh on impossible to say where it came from based on sound, feel and overall QC. Lots of people want a Les Paul, but that's where most more affordable ones are made these days whether we like it or not (even the less affordable - e.g. Kirk Hammett Greeny, ouch). I'm not defending one way or the other. Thinking of doing a video at some point on this subject so really interested to know what you think.

      Chinese products: paper, gunpowder, porcelain, printing and Eastman guitars.
