- DO NOT BUY THE EPIPHONE GREENY: It's just a crazy price for a guitar that is not that special. It isn't that much different from a 1959 LP standard and with a little work you can make one of those your greeny and save yourself about $500... or €700 in Europe.
I think this guitar is crazy, but what do you think?

The last epiphone I tried was the Cantrell "wino". It looked and played great, the price was about as much as I'd spend on an epiphone. No chance I would pay nearly $2300 cdn after tax for a greeny.
Yeah the price point is a NO for me as well. On the used market a year from now these could be under $1000 then maybe
Insane!
The Epi 1959 Les Paul Standard Outfit was a screaming deal at $729.00 - with the same hardshell case!
Cheers all!😃
Cheers, Scott!
Fun fact: Peter Green was a unique man who was disgusted by money. It's quite funny that we live in a time where Gibson wants to sell Chinese-made copies of his guitar and charge way too much for them.
The Green Manalishi (With the Open Book Gibson Headstock Crown)
epiphone is not affilated with Gibson except it bought the lic to be able to copy the Gibson models...otherwise no connection...
@@whitebeardguitar Yeah, keep dreaming.
@@Poldek.Misiak I went and researched a little to prove my point but proved yours I think...I did read where they are completly two seperate entities and I thought somehow epi broke away...can't find where I read that so maybe I misread it. Peace
@@whitebeardguitar I appreciate that you admitted your mistake. Hardly anyone does it today. Respect👍
Pull out your neck pickup, pull out the magnetic, turn it 180 degrees, push it back in. Now you have a Greeny Epiphone. Enjoy.
Yeah. Really easy mod. Save yeh self £1500.😂
I did that to my epi standard pro 2
I call it Bluey!
I saved a ton of beer money!!
My Epiphone Les Paul Custom Jerry Cantrell Wino is a perfect example of a great guitar at a fair price. $849 with a hard case.
I have that one, too, and it is a GREAT guitar.
Me too @@Eric_01
I got the Vintage version of this, put Monty’s Guitars green pups in. Plays and sounds great
Not gonna lie, I bought one of these and it was delivered today (perks of living within the 1 day range of sweetwater), and I'm really enjoying it after having played it for several hours since I put some new strings on it. The GreenyBuckers are significantly different to the Burstbuckers in the 1959 Epiphone, in that they're lower output and closer to an what an actual R9 Custom shop les paul would sound like.
No buyers remorse as of now, just enjoying a good guitar. Fit and finish is on par with my Gibson SG 61 standard, and well above my 2014 SGJ, just to frame in terms of other stuff that I have on hand or played in the past.
If the idea is to raise the floor of Gibson and raise the ceiling of Epiphone, then this is a good example of that crossover.
whats your favourite song from Then Play On?
If they want to raise the Epiphone ceiling, as you say, that's ok as long as they ALSO continue to offer a more affordable LP in a lower price bracket.
@@mattpeckham667 which they do…$129 to $1499 and probably about 20 different guitars in that spread
Not gonna happen. Unfortunately
@@mattpeckham667They do offer less expensive ones. They always have.
I bought a Epiphone quilt top pro for $509, swapped pickups for $70, got a case for $120 and bought an amp for $260. The $600 I saved paid for my next two guitars, a Squire Tele and Strat. $1600 can go a LONG way.
Cool followup, I took the original "ProBuckers" from the Epi and put them in the Tele with the Peter Green mod. The Squire humbuckers were ceramic crap.
They still has the Standard 50s, 60s range for $600, and the 59 for $900, so they still have options for less money. I would understand the anger if all the models saw huge price hikes but the cheap ones still exist
You are absolutely correct. A GC on sale Epiphone Lemon ‘59 $750, half the price for what.? Headstock shape, finish, knobs & different Gibson pickups. 😮
I think the finish is same on both and the GC Lemon has Gibson Burstbucker 2 & 3 pickups. One could buy the GC Lemon for $750, remove and sell the bursbuckers in it and use that money towards some Greeny pickups and still come out significantly ahead.
I remmeber when Epis were $400 new for their deluxe model. Here we are. The market is nuts.
We could always lobby for the Asians to be payed less, so they could keep undercutting more and more..
Me too brother, me too…crazy world. I still have some old Musiciansfriend, catalog with above said prices next to the guitars. Crazy how far everything has gone up 😂
And $80 for a LP Junior.
Epi pickups, pots where shite, if good body, change pickups, eletronics and bridge= comes to 800- 1000 anyhow. Still good deal if not looking for selling it profit.
@@aleksik4028 Oof. You can easily get a used used Gibson USA for that same amount.
Yes! Just bought one and it’s coming tomorrow 🎉 …. a Gibson SG Special that is - I’m not stupid enough to buy an Epiphone for that money 🙄
Smart , the Gibson should at least hold its value over time which is nice. Enjoy it brother , great guitar !
So how exactly does the carving of the headstock and the colors of the control knobs affect the sound of the instrument?
I know it will be a great video, Dave!
When the 58 V and Explorer came out, I was saying “they’re going to see how high they can charge for a guitar with each new release”
Now we’re here at 1499.
Seems like Gibson has positioned Epiphone to “compete” with the MIM Fenders now rather than with the Squier line.
The only problem is that the MIM Fender is still a Fender, while Epiphone has always been the Squier of Gibson.
If that's their plan going forward, they'll need a new brand to compete in the most affordable tier of the market (like Squier, Ibanez Gio and Jackson JS)
@@WaurufExand the fenders are made in Mexico which as always had a stand up reputation. The other.........China
Great point , the guitars coming g outta Mexico are exceptional to say the least. My opinion anyway.
Couldn't agree with you more, Dave. 👍
You are right man, we have to stop buying guitars like this. I bought brand new Gibson LP Tribute cheaper past year
And now I hear they are discontinued because of these!!😢🤯🤷
@@THESESSIONROOM
I keep seeing people comment that Les Paul Tributes are discontinued now, but they are still listed (and available for purchase) on Gibson’s website. The website gives no indication that they are discontinued.
After being hyped beyond belief, the first few months of this year saw Adam Jones LPs selling out before they were even on stores websites and scalpers selling at inflated prices on reverb and eBay. Recently seen them in stock and with a slight reduction, does this mean the bubble eventually bursts? Still pricey though even at around a grand
What a fantastic video have a good day also good advice 😊❤
So much passion and sentiment among guitarists about that old beat up '59 Gibson greeny model.
In Australia you can buy a second hand Gibson Les Paul Standard for not much more money than this new Epiphone. If you want a Gibson wait for a good second hand one.
Agreed
Totally not worth it. At that price you could easily find a nice Gibson. This isnt just overpriced, it just doesnt make any sense.
You are correct sir!! When the Dave mustaine came out I wanted the green one, but 2k in Canada is ridiculous for a China guitar.
@@JoeBlack1108Overpriced, especially when prophecy series exists. Its literally better guitar for almost half the price.
Theres some sweet Ibanez and LTD abd Fender guitars in this price range for NEW guitars. Honestly dont get what they were thinking.
@cycomiles4225 your right, but even the LTD's have gone up. My Gary Holt 600 was 1700 canadian just a few years ago, and now it lists at 2550, but they don't make them in China, and the quality is spot on.
@@JoeBlack1108 Everything, including guitars since corona has gone up. This pricetag is not there bcoz of inflation or moving production to a more costly country. Its there bcoz its a cash grab, its just a 800$ made in China Epi les paul with a fucked up neck pickup, thats it. Headstock? I mean, they make them already for their Gibsons, its literally not an investment.
Im not even saying that Chinese guitars are necesery bad, but come on. It cant cost almost double the price just bcoz it got Kirks or Mustaines name on it. People are going to buy it regadless, musicians are all about big names and big pricetags. I just find it really annoying because that shows other companies that they too can get away with it and it drives the price of other guitars even more to the roof.
@cycomiles4225 I don't think I made myself clear. It has nothing to do with the Chinese people and the quality of the workmanship, what I am saying is if I found a guitar custom shop in China to build a guitar, you could imagine what kind of wicked guitar you could get for 2k directly going to the shop. Not 2k going to Epiphone and of that 2k split between the CEO of Epiphone and a kickback to Gibson and another slice going to the kirk, so on and so on. If you wanted that guitar out of China you could literally buy it for 500 because your not paying everyone else. That is what I am saying. When it comes to inflation, I don't think the prices have gone up like they have said simply because the stuff you really want or need has gone up and others haven't. 2.50 for a box of Kraft Dinner up from 1.50, but bananas haven't changed. TV, stereos Xbox, PS they haven't really changed. I think inflation has given people and excuse to be even more greedy.
The early "Vintage" Peter Green model guitars are excellent and about a quarter of the price of the Epiphone "Greeny" made by the Gibson Greedy's, and comparable in playability to any of the Les Paul's I've played which include some of Les's own personal collection and various Les Pauls I've owned over the years.
I agree the Vintage Lemon Drops are amazing guitars . Only 900 here in New Zealand. Not 2.6 k for the Epi
No one talks about the neck. I’ve got one of the early JHS Vintage Greeny LPs (2012). Good guitar but the neck is small in the hand, which doesn’t sound like Green’s own description of his guitar. Actually I “unmodded” mine a fair bit to make it a better fit for me, so now it’s more like the Bolan or Ronson LP. Number one mod: get a decent wiring loom. Stripped the maple top to bare wood (nice slab of plain grain under the thin veneer), standardised the very decent Wilkinson pickups, and put a decent bone nut on it. Plays sweet, sounds classic, looks distinct.😊
I really like the lower priced Gibsons. I continue to be perplexed by the high priced Epis.
My 2005 epiphone Lp custom was better than my Gibson 2016 studio. The quality over the years is so inconsistent.
100% correct, Dave, extortionate prices from Epiphone are crippling the guitar community
I used to be a "fan" of Epiphone and recommend them, but I have noticed that they have become quite a bit more expensive.
I don't think they are crippling the community. Whilst Epiphone has gone up in price, there are now a lot more entry level guitars at much higher quality than in previous decades.
I think all that has happened, is Epiphone and Squire have just stepped into the space that used to be held by Gibson and Fender's lowest price bracket.
Off brand alternatives are still available.
I think mugs like me, have realised we can get the Les Paul experience at a fraction of the price. I'm not earning dentist money, but I do have a little disposable income, so I think their target audience is people like me, rather than teens buying their first guitar.
@@Mikey__R Absolutely! I do like my Epi's, and there was a time when that was considerably based on affordability, but there are tons of less-known brands that are equal if not better in quality for below $5-600. AIO, LTD, Agile, Ibanez Artcore series, Vintage, and even Firefly cranks out a very decent product. Plus, just go used. I acquired so many mint condition used guitars that it's almost insane to ever buy new. But, I still do, I get that GAS also includes tapping into the latest and greatest of whatever it is you're into.
is there a difference in the headstock of the epiphone standard 59 aged dark burst and the greeny?
Cheers back at you
In the US I got a brand new Slash for 500,the Epi 59 is now on sale for 750,I agree with you.
You could get a burny with the gibson headstock and amber top and switch pickups or whatever you want for way less than the epiphone and burny guitars are very well made.
This one only makes we wish I had picked up that Andertons exclusive lemondrop 59 when that was out at half the price
I’ve been checking out Chibson Greenies and an very happy with the value.
To each their own. Ya might bet a gem ya might get a dud and that goes for buying any brand.
Any luck Dave on getting someone to grab me some pickups off the Gibson Website like we chatted about?
Thanks dude
There are some differences though right? One piece neck etc, I may be wrong
It has the custom headstock and custom designed Greenybuckers. Epiphone did miss a trick when it came to case candy. Having a certificate, some Kirk Hammett themed photos, and maybe a custom strap would make for a better collector experience. The Tommy Thayer has its own custom case, custom color Duncan pickups, and special paint. Not a huge Kiss fan but it is a nicely done collector piece.
I have owned the Epi Boneyard Les Paul since 2004. Gibson Burstbucker 2 and 3 pick ups and out of phase on the middle switch position. Paid 700 Canadian when new. I have been offered twice that much but i cant do it. Everytime i pick it up and plug it in i smile from ear to ear! I saw this epi greeny thing at a local store last week and i was not impressed, especially with quality control. For me 2200 Canadian is lot of money for a similar looking Gibson Headstock.Great video sir, keep em coming!
Just a couple of months ago I bought a second hand Gibson Les Paul Studio for £800. It's an awesome guitar with a proper maple cap, thin nitro finish and Dirty Fingers pickups. No vaneer and no "tone plastic" binding. Sure, it's got a few dents, but that adds to the mojo in my eyes. It's a real workhorse guitar which will never depreciate... and you could buy two of them for that price.
Did you keep the original pickups ?
@@benallmark9671 it's the '70s tribute, so came with Dirty Fingers. They're super hot and sound great.
@@GarryParker very nice !
I 100% agree!! And we do have the power to force these manufacturers back into reality. Sadly, there will be just enough people willing to screwed and they will screw all of us. I feel the same way about Ticketmaster.
I saw the Epiphone slash heavily discounted. I think this will go the same way
Why should the Epiphone headstock shape be like the Gibson shape after all it is an Epiphone not a Gibson I think the headstock revision in the inspired by collection is quite enough for that matter if you want a Gibson headstock so bad just go buy a Gibson or for that matter since Epiphone is the older company how about Gibson adopting the Epiphone headstock shape the more you think about this it's nuts
😏
If i want the guitar im going to buy it. That said im seriously considering it. I appreciate watching videos of an alternate opinion but to me it seems great!
If you like it, want it, and can afford it, then ignore what anyone says and buy it! Don't let others dictate what you should anbd should not do with your hard earned money.
@@markde9904 A shame to talk about and make money, horrible.
You can find a like new Les Paul Classic for 15-17 hundred. I do like the open book head stock on the Epey.
Great points
At least in Europe you can find Japanese Tokai and Edwards Les Paul copies at around the same price, with better QC.
I don't know what's Gibson's plan going forward, but this looks like they are abandoning the sub 1000 USD tier of the market.
I wonder how much the Epiphone DG-335 will come out at, rumors are that one is in the works…
Doesn't the new Kirk Hammett Greeny have the special out of phase selector position (or something like that) that makes it unique?
I think you've changed my mind! I am headed up to the US in a few weeks for a visit and was going to get the Greeny, but am now leaning towards an Epiphone 1959 LP Standard Outfit ADB instead. I only have a single-coil Epiphone at the moment and really want a guitar with humbuckers. The $500 difference wouldn't be such a dealbreaker for me if the guitar merits it and I lived in the US, but going back through customs makes it another $500 (because it's over the tax-free limit). Besides, I can always get a couple of pickups if I really need to have that sound and have friends deliver them .😉
I have a Harley Benton with SD green magic pickups and I love it. I have about 400 us in it.
Made my own months ago. Used Seymour Duncan green magics I found on reverb. All in I’m under $1k.
Good to hear people protesting against these ridicilous pricings!
I've thought of you as a hack, but you are completely correct here, Mr Not Named 3chord....
I totally agree with you on this.😅
Raw materials have gone up in the past 3 years, so they have to cover the upcharge by raising prices, plus they have to pay an artist premium. Would you agree with that?
Totally agree. I've got all ranges of LPs inc amongst others the Epiphone 59, a Gbson Tribute & a Gibson Standard. The Epi 59 is a great guitar, well worth the £800 I paid for it, but this is nothing like worth double that amount. It's a con. As you rightly say don't buy it
It seems that Epi Greeny is a atempt from Gibson to see how much people gonna pay for the Gibby headstock. I´m not inpresse diwh the guitar at all. Top is so-so, knobs are aweful, etc.
i have the epiphone 59...so alls i have to do is turn one of the pickup around..now i have a greeny
The Gibson open-book headstock will only be available on Custom Shop models going forward while standard models will continue to use the current Kalamazoo headstock. This is not a permanent headstock change like last year or whenever Epiphone last changed it.
I got lucky and my brother found a lefty Epi Les Paul Standard Pro 2014 and cherry sunburst, for 200.00 and she looks just like a couple of Pagey`s 59s the Probucker pups are great too
I’ve been on a major Epiphone kick the last few years, I’ve got a Koa Custom, a green 335, and Pelham Blue SG and one of those faded finish Les Paul Classic goldtops, and I love them all, they are awesome guitars especially for the price. I’m not paying almost twice what I paid for the Koa Custom for a half-assed Greeny knock off.
Very much agree with you. I’m a big Epi fan and own 6 myself and in fairness they have been producing some great quality guitars of late but if signature / high end Epi’s are going to be a thing then around the €1000 mark is a fair price in terms of value etc. I recently picked up the Noel Gallagher Signature Riviera and it cost €999. A fantastic guitar and fairly priced IMO 👌🏻
Love the new Greeny from Epiphone
You can get a lot better guitars for 1699, money for gimmicks really. Gibson are masters of repackaging the same guitar!
No kidding eh
@@benallmark9671 Harley Benton make a very similar guitar for 350 dollars, all it needs is better pickups, add a couple of decent pickups and you have a greeny for 500 bucks!
I must confess, I never thought much of lemon burst Les Pauls until this new Greeny fuzz came about, and their marketing worked because all of a sudden I wanted one, albeit not 'the' Greeny they were pushing that still seems too expensive to me. Funny how things work, I found a used Epi 1959 (the limited edition lemon burst), so that oughta keep me happy. So I'll miss out on the "correct" Gibson shaped headstock, and the Greeny neck carve, and maybe the pickups and other paper work... I can live with that! :D
After receiving this yesterday, I have to say that it plays as good as the $3200 Gibson Greeny, and plays way way better than my 59 Epi. Totally worth the $1499. The Greenybuckers are completely different in sound, and the neck and headstock feel much smoother than the cheaper 59 Epi. If you are good with electronics and good with tools then sure you can make your own, but why bother when you can get this with a warranty and all. Everything in the world is more expensive and you can take your stand all day long but in reality everything is getting more expensive and sure if everyone stopped buying it would put prices down, but that is never going to happen so to whine about prices is kind of pointless when we live in a capitalistic world. All in all a great guitar and a good buy, in terms of other guitars and current prices, it is a good deal.
Agree $100! These people are just mad cuz they can’t afford one, & even though they are “pro Epiphone”, they’re still holding onto the stigma that where a guitar is made & what’s on the headstock is a reflection on the quality. It’s not. The only thing that separates the Epi Greeny from the Gibson, is it doesn’t have wings glued on the headstock, the top isn’t quite as nice & it doesn’t have nitrocellulose lacquer. That’s it. And my ‘59 Epi had to have the frets leveled, which is unacceptable for a $1000 guitar, or even a $700 guitar IMO
you paid 1500 for a les paul copy
Here we go…..the “just as good or better guys”…..lol!
Actually I paid $1500 for a real Les Paul, all Epiphone's and Gibson's make real Les Pauls since Gibson bought Epi in 1957 - anything other than Epi and Gibson is a copy. Instead of paying $3200 for the Gibson Greeny which is actually a $2000 level guitar, I paid $1500 for something that the only major difference between it and the Gibson Greeny is the shine. With a few minor tweaks it is the exact guitar that is being played in front of 10s of thousands of Metallica fans live, so to me it is a great deal. I own 3 Gibsons, and 2 other Epi's and the quality of this guitar is as good as the Gibsons and quite a bit above the other Epi's I own. And yes, why pay $3200 for a $2000 Gibson when you can get the same sound for $1500? I will be a $500 richer 'just as good or better guy'@@frankcarter6427
@@DCUSMC95 here we go…another, “If it ain’t made in ‘Merica, it’s shit” guy. Get with the program. All you wanna be cork sniffing purists are living in the dark ages. Where a guitar is made & what’s on the headstock is no longer a reflection of quality. Anyone who doesn’t realize this is living under a rock. Sad but true
I read that one of the previous owners of actual Greeny said the whole pickup phase thing is a load of horse-crap.
So I am going to have to agree with you my friend that the price of these guitars is pretty darn steep for an epiphone guitar as the slash one I felt was high as well even though I ended up getting one and I do like my slash epiphone it should not have been as high as it was when it was released in my opinion as well.
I do have a friend that did get one of the Epiphone greeny guitars though so I am going to get a chance to see one and play it in person and he is going to let me do a video on it as well so we will see what I really think about it once I get my hands on one.
I bought it just because everyone said not too. I live in the US and ordered it from Anderton’s just to increase the price and the shipping.
I was waiting on this since missing out on a Gibson Gary Moore signature Greeny model at a good price years ago. I was ready to buy it the day of release until I saw the price. It took years, but I'm over it now. I have two Les Pauls with the neck pickup flip and played them after deciding not to spend this much. Having said that, I often forget just what a great collection I have. Epi has gone too far with prices.
I passed on the epiphone Greeny and went extra for the Gibson model instead. I figured it was worth it as the current 59 and 60 versions are approx 2800.00.
Well spoken total agreement !!!!!
Isn't the "Greeny" mod just wiring the pickup out of phase? I wired my 05' Epi to be out of phase with a push/pull pot many years ago, which was inspired by Jimmy Page. I don't understand the hype around this Greeny thing. Anyone want to buy my Greeny Page Epiphone Les Paul for $1500? Good grief, people.
The keyword there is "hype".
“Don’t say its too expensive, say you can’t afford it” 😅 from the Wolf on Wall Street.
Saying a guitar is not worth it without having tried it, too funny 😂
I think it's about the specs. It's still just made like any other Epiphone, that it would play well is kinda normal for most Epiphones.
I definitely agree about the price. However, this whole thing is bringing out the Gibson snobs (this always happens whenever something negative about Epiphone shows up). Like yeah, you can get a Gibson for around this price but you can also save your money and get a 1959 Epiphone in lemon burst for $749. You can then put Greenybuckers/Seymour Duncan Green Magics in it and sell the Burstbuckers. You’d come out less than $1000. Possibly closer if you wanted to get the knobs and tuners right, but you’re still saving a ton of money. There are still less expensive Epiphones out there, and no, they are not bad guitars because they’re made in China.
Over a thousand bucks for an Epiphone is insane to me. When I bought my Epiphone Les Paul Standard 10 years ago it was 250 bucks.
Well, there are many caveats to that statement. Go look at a vintage prewar Epiphone hollow body guitar, any model will do, and come talk with me…
you can buy a epi '59 les paul along with the greeny buckers for about $1200 usd
Its getting ridiculous I mean is it gonna end at 2k for an Epiphone or something, coz that's where its headed. Absolute rip off and I say that as a big Epiphone fan
The brand Vintage has been making a greeny for like ten years now, for way less. Can you imagine what this would cost in Australia???
Dave you hit the nail right on the head again, good sir! Had the chance to play the SG special in a store when I went and bought an Eastman. Now I'm looking out for a good SG special, can't make my mind up if I should go for the Maybach or the Gibson. But it's just crazy to think that for the price of the Gibson at 1499 and the maybach at 1899 that there are Epiphones priced inbetween those two
Agree!
Not too long ago I got the Epiphone Billie Joe Les Paul Jr. It’s a cool guitar with a hard case and it wasn’t too expensive. It was like $750 Canadian.
The best guitar epiphone make for the money and has great playability but the look may be for everyone is the brendon small ghosthorse explorer @ $850
Very nice guitars I picked one up for a feel really liked it put thought it good have been aged a bit looked felt to new and a Darker rosewood fingerboard would have looked much better for me it was the finish but the woods and parts are top quality did not give it the icing on the Cake .Well done to Epiphone though showing what they can achieve
Someone finally talking some sense about this. 🤟
I was in Australia last week and while checking out guitar prices found there are music stores there trying to gouge customers for up to $3200 dollars for the Epiphone. These are what 1500 full price in the USA? thats 2150 Australian. Yet the stores there greedily gouge over 1,000 more. I feel sorry for musicians there. And before someone says "but shipping", Gibson ships guitars there by the container full. A container costs about 2,000 dollars to send anywhere internationally and one would easily hold at least 200 guitars boxed up. That's 10 dollars per guitar to get there. So no that is not why the price is so high.
It's not greed (at least not on the part of the dealers). The distribution network there is completely corrupt, and Australian dealers pay way more for guitars (and probably ALL music gear) than dealers in any other part of the world. It's been like that for a long time now.
@@LuthiartIf it's been like this for a long time then the blame has to go back to the dealers. If they were all screaming about it to manufacturers, things would change. Manufacturers are very concerned about the brand image.
The Chibson also has the open book headstock 😆
Just picked up a Epi 1959 LP standard second hand for $525. What a steal! The burst buckers are awesome so no need to replace them. Don’t waste your money one the Greeny
at this point you might as well get yourself an amberburst chibson and buy the greenie pickups yourself and you got an epiphone greenie for cheap with the gibson headstock on it. already did it my self, total costs for everything was not over $600! And for clarification i do own Gibsons, Epiphones and Ibanez's and this was the cheapest route plus the guitar sounds just like the original without the "original price"!!! 😉😊
I went to Sweetwater music and they had a epiphone les paul Jr and it $450 they used to $100 and some change 5 years ago.
i bought my first Les Paul Epi Heritage Cherry Burst 1950 model at GC for $ 599.00 and my second one a few months later from sweetwater. A 1960 Burgundy burst for $649.00. I thought that was a big increase. now the are $699.00 crazy :(
Holy cow that’s $1860 when you do the exchange. You have got to be freaking kidding me!
I heard they’re 10+ Lbs - A heavy guitar.
They demoed the Epi greeny on the Play And Trade Guitars channel and it weighed 10lbs on the nose. Heavy indeed.
eh when it comes to the weight its luck of the draw, like with Gibsons. sometimes ull get lucky and get on thats 8.5 to 9 sometimes ull get one thats 10. unless you buy from a supplier who actually puts up their weights and tops like Sweetwater does i think andertons also does it now.
Why is it named after the guy who bought it???
because its now Kirks guitar.. ? its no longer peter's and its no longer Gary's. its however still called the Greenie after its OG owner Peter Green
ill personally get it, when its being sold second handed which i strongly think it will. and probably at half the cost if not a flat 1k.. but honestly this is just mad its literally just their 59 model with mother of pearl inlays and different pickups(being greenies instead of burstbuckers)+headstock.. it doesnt even get rosewood its still Indian Laurel at that price tag. not that i dislike Indian laurel in terms of looks its really close to rosewood, especially after uve fed it some oil, but at that price i dont know id just expect it to have rosewood. Gibson is honestly going Crazy with the pricing on these signature guitars...
Crazy. In 2021 I got a Brand New Gibson Les Paul Classic for $1800 from Sweetwater.
I just got an epiphone 1959 for £500 online, love it , way too much guitar for me
Totally agree with you and this is from someone who spent £1350 on the Jimmy Page Telecaster
Couldn't agree with you more on this.
