    I have same car and have the whining noise i replaced power steering pump alternator i replaced tensioner pulley and lower pulleys. Still same noise. So my last thing to swap out is compressor pulley and i think thats where the noise is coming from well hopefully

      @@diydaly Thanks mate, this is new for me,can you tell me do I need to change some dryer too, when I change the compressor? What is the amount of oil for compressor?

      No just the compressor , I usually add about 10ml of oil when renewing a compressor mate 👍

    Do you need to add any oil into the unit before fitting or is this done with the gassing machine as parts system shows compressor oil as an item, thanks.

      You can add a little oil , about 10ml normally , depends on how you are regassing it .. I don’t add any as I can add it with our machine when regassing

    Is the AC compressor accessable that easily with every engine or just the 4-cyl ? I own a 2.7 V6 Diesel and the compressor makes some bad noise, usually every job is 3 days and a nervous breakdown with the V6-Diesel engines :D

    I have a question, my AC stopped working on A4 B7 same year, looking down at compressor pulley while air con on and the small bolt in the front of pulley looks like it’s stationary, is there a clutch that can be replaced on these ? Cheers

      Depends on the compressor type but some shear the drive , and the drive piece can be replaced separately

    Hello, I have an A4 b7 1.9tdi 2006. AC compressor is locked up. What other component I need to replace than compressor? Maybe a receiver/dryer. Because of the possibility of contamination with iron filings from the compressor?

    Mine makes a grinding noise always but when i engage the Aircon it makes a big grinding noise. Is the compressor gone or should I try to have it refilled first at a shop?

      I wouldn’t waste any money getting it regassed , that’s the compressor failed I’m afraid mate .. it will need replacing or fixing at the least

      @@MrGilly yeah you should be ok tbf, obviously there is a quality difference but ive fitted a few cheap ones without any problems

    got an A3 1.9 tdi 2006 diesel, changed the pump last year. Did this pump only last 3 months or what !?

    What if you don’t have a degasser? Are you able to release the pressure a different way?

      not correctly, the only other was is releasing it into the atmosphere

      @@diydaly can you drive with a new compressors without having it refilled? Basically to drive to a shop to get it vacuumed and filled

      @@MrGilly yeah it will be fine just leave it switched off , you could inject about 5mls of ac oil into the compressor but it should really have some in and if it’s getting regassed correctly they will put oil in with the regas

      I can’t honestly remember what make it was but it wasn’t engaging that’s why I replaced it

      DIYDaly I had one where the clutch didn't engage because the gap was out of tolerance. I removed a spacer washer to reduce the gap and it engaged straight off the bat., but as you well know, not everything that appears new works... really enjoying your vids.. all the best! 👍

      It’ll be similar , yours is a B8 this was on a B7

    I have a 2006 A3.The compressor I was told it needs to be replaced. The question I have is: can I change the compressor, not fill it or use it and take it to a place where they can put the refrigerant with one of those machines? Will the compressor be damaged? ..I mean the belt will be on. I just want to save money on the replacement part. I have done this before in an old s10, but a friend had one of those machines and took it where the truck was.

      If so, are there any precautions I need to take. The other compressor was completely empty. I heard some compressors have oil in it. Any feedback is greatly appreciated 🙏

      yeah its fine for you to fit the compressor, when you take it to be regassed just ask them to put some oil in, our machine is fully automated and if we are regassing after a compressor had been replaced ill always add an extra 10g oil to the system

      I can quite remember without looking tbf , if you can bypass the pulley with a shorter belt it will work

      @@ottonandago680 ohh you mean run it tempory.. you could run it for a short very short period as it runs the alternator so it wont be charging the battery

    I replaced the Compressor, Drier and filter on my A4 2007 2.0 and after vacuuming down, cannot get the system to take any freon, the Controls are stuck on "ECON" mode, any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong? The original compressor failed while in service so the system was purged before replacement commenced.

      Got to be honest I’ve never had that issue! Sounds like one of the items must be blocked! Are you sure there a no protective caps left on anywhere mate?

      @@diydaly I’m pretty sure no gas is getting into the line at all at the low port. I’ll check for caps again but I would imagine I would not have been able to connect the lines had it still been there. I can verify Freon on the yellow line, Freon at the blue hose connection gauge side but no way to verify Freon is getting out the connection at the low side port. I read somewhere that someone was filling on the high side, any validity to that? Thanks!

      @@MichaelThomas-rc3by hmm very odd never know the fill port valve fail in a ay that it wont let gas in either.. they usually just leak.. yeah you can just fill from the HP side.. our machine has that option and ive done it several times in the past

    No one says that after changing compressor,or any other part othe cooling system,you have to clean the cooling system otherwise after short time you will have the same problem.
