    I have modeled concrete many times before, but this was my first time trying this technique, and I made it up as I went along. This was my first time trying to emulate a broom concrete finish, and the wire brush did a nice job of creating that texture on the XPS Foam. In the past, I started by painting my concrete in a black basecoat, and then drybrushing my gray tones on top of that. However, I think starting with a light basecoat of deck tan, and then adding multiple washes on top of that as shown in the video achieves a much more realistic result!

    Fantastic job dude!! I used to be a scenic artist in movies and TV. We did exactly the same type of technique. Awesome!!
    Quick note: on city sidewalks there are always big black spots of old chewing gum, garbage etc.. Depending on the scene, you can get a lot of realistic details by simply looking at an actual sidewalk. Great man!

    2 things that might help
    1st pull the wire brush instead of pushing it
    2nd as you want to make it look like concrete that was poured into a from myde of wood, you might add some panels

    • @smolworldworkshop
      @smolworldworkshop  Před 7 měsíci

      Thank you! And I’m glad you like the video! Unfortunately, I don’t know where to buy sheets of thin foam. I only have 1-2” thick pieces where I’m from. I just cut the thickness down with my proxxon hot wire table.
      You could try looking at eBay, I’ve heard that some people sell thinner sheets that they cut down themselves! Not too sure about how clean and accurate they are though
