  • In this video I will be installing a Toro recycler kit on a 50 inch zero turn mower. I will show how to remove the deck and flip it over then reinstall the deck while showing a couple tips that will make it easier. The recycler kit will help to mulch up excess grass and leaves.

Is there a aftermarket chute blocker for notched decks? If so what brand

Technically it looks like you have full coverage at the discharge chute so do you still have to put the deflector on? Figured it may just not be necessary?

Surprised that the deflector goes back on. I was hoping to lose that completely.

What’s your opinion of the performance of the mulching kit?! I had not seen one until viewed your video today. Was supposed to have gotten it with my Toro purchase of a 5050. They told me it was installed. However after seeing this video I now know I got gyped by Chickasaw Equipment in Houston MS. Do you like the way it mows/looks after mowing??

So for me it has worked pretty well. The caveats are that if you mow when the grass is wet or long you need to slow down. Mulching can be good for the grass, but if it's to long or wet the grass clipping can bunch up and kill the grass

What are the black pulleys called?

If you have a lawnmower lift would it be more difficult installing this than the method you did in the video of removing the whole thing?

I think so. I have a mower lift and so far it has been easier to just remove the deck when performing most maintenance. The lift is nice when cleaning after using it.

Removing the deck definitely makes a good youtube video. If you want to get the job done in 15-20 minutes....jack the mower up. Lower the deck as far as you can(mine hits the jack about halfway) remove the discharge chute and the bracket. All the holes to install the kit are easily accessible. Using a 13mm ratcheting wrench install the recycler kit.....You're welcome

@@noikongchan3515 Yes, I already installed it a while back. I removed the deck since it looks harder than it seems but it's really easy. I thought I would have trouble with the belt tension which is why I wanted to lift it instead but it was no problem.

@Awper Online I figured you already did since it was 3 months ago. This was the first video that popped up when I googled how to install a recycler kit on a timecutter. I watched the video and I do appreciate the dude that uploaded the video but it really is not necessary to remove the deck. Just hoping the next person that reads this, I can save them a bit of time.

@@noikongchan3515 I did crank my mower all the way up and made sure the jack was secured, but still felt nervous being under there. It was also a two person job trying to hold up the recycling kit into the hole while bolting it on and I was alone at the time. That is when I made the decision to remove the deck.
