Anthony edwards is 22. How would he be doing load management…? Don’t believe he won’t be doing it past his mid 30’s. Bron’s problem is his ego, his business / legacy perspective that deviates him for “playing the right way” or for the right reasons. The league has a schedule problem. There shouldn’t be back to back games. Anyone who’s done sports competition knows this. A 22 year old comes to prove that a 39 year old’s load management is wrong or unnecessary??? And yes Ant complains to the refs a ton like every other player does. Watch any game during the NBA season and what you see is if a player gets into the paint to shoot they'll immediately turn to the refs if they miss the shot. Jokic does it, Murray does it, Ant does it, Giannis does it, Luka does it, etc, etc. Even role players do it. MJ and Kobe wanted to win more than anything, but they weren't demanding that the media treat them as kings and chosen ones. They weren't bothered or focused on frivolous endorsements, they were simply focused on the grind and doing whatever it took to win on the court. LeBron has always had one foot in basketball, and the other foot in public perception. His need to be liked and loved is stronger than his will to win, and it's obvious in how insecure and groveling he has become about his GOAT status. To LeBron, nothing that happens on the court matters, all that matters is what people say about him in the aftermath.

JJ Redick was born in 1984 just like LeBron, Perk, and Nick Wrong. As you can see in my handle, I’m a 1980 baby but I’m born in Dec. What a difference 4 years makes. I started watching the NBA by early 1990 when I was 9.
I remember this big Kobe fan on ESPN messageboards named Griffmoney1984 who said he never saw MJ from the first threepeat. Griff started watching basketball by 1996 at the age of 12. I have a cousin also born in 1984 and his favorite player ever is Kobe. He wasn’t old enough to see enough of MJ’s career like I did from that first threepeat. I’d watch early 90s Bulls games on WGN if they didn’t show it on NBC or TNT.
Kevon Looney recently said his GOAT is Kobe over Jordan and I’m okay with that. I obviously don’t think that’s the case because I probably saw more Kobe games than MJ games to know that isn’t true. Jordan was better. But Looney was born in 1996, so what would he know? Dude was probably not even old enough to see MJ play as a Washington Wizard.
It’s just a generational debate. Enough time passes, the GOAT becomes LeBron because most people who saw Jordan play would be dead or senile. Then enough time passes, people wouldn’t be familiar with LeBron either. There’s already enough time passed that we no longer talk about Muhammad Ali. That maybe our heavyweight GOAT is Mike Tyson.
I saw this with the Star Wars Prequels. They were hated when released, or at least hated by fans of the Original. But people born in the 1990s who grew up on the Prequels adores it. So what happens is revisionist history comes out. The flaws are erased. The nostalgia takes over. People claiming Revenge of the Sith is better than The Empire Strikes Back.
I grew up in the NES generation. That’s my first video game console. But I know a lot of people’s first console might be the Super NES, N64, GameCube, or Wii. My favorite video game ever is the original Final Fantasy VII. Most of the voices for the characters for the remakes were born in the 1990s. They didn’t grow up on the OG. Not everyone were born in the same year or decade.
There was a time when I actually hated Michael Jordan. I loved him for two years and then hated him by 1993. He was too overexposed. But now, all that stuff gets forgotten. Since Kobe died, all his flaws and trials and tribulations gets forgotten. The incident in Colorado in 2003 is rarely talked about while someone who made a perverted or racist tweet from a decade ago will try to be cancelled from the social media mob.
I do think JJ makes a point. This point was already made years ago by old timers who played basketball in the 1960s. The league was watered down by the 90s. But what JJ is ignoring is why do we have to hold that against only to MJ? Didn’t Detroit win in ‘89 and ‘90 when the Heat, Magic, TWolves, and Hornets were added those years? Didn’t the Lakers make the Finals twice from 1989-1991?
We try to take away things from Jordan. He won. Case closed. He doesn’t have a time machine to control the opponents he faces. But when LeBron wins weak rings, someone like JJ would look the other way. People like Shannon Sharpe shits on the 1991 Pistons, 1991 Lakers, 1992 Blazers, 1993 Suns, and 1996 Sonics when all those teams are superior to the 2011 Mavs, 2012 Thunder, and 2020 Heat.
And how come we don’t blast Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for cakewalking to the Finals? And those teams were stacked. They had HoFers like Bob McAdoo and James Worthy. The only team in the West who made the Finals who weren’t the Lakers were the Rockets.
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expansion_of_the_NBA
We whine how Bill Russell won rings when there were only 8 teams. But when more teams are added, we start to whine that it’s watered down? JJ Redick is actually hurting LeBron’s case because how many teams do we have now? 30, right? That’s a watered down league already.
Whoever played after Jordan is playing in a more watered down league because it’s not like the NBA has eliminated all these teams. The Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets felt like a tax write off for MJ when he owned them all those years. There’s still 450 jobs out there compared to 345 in 1987 or 120 in 1961.
LeBron is currently playing in a watered down league if JJ thinks MJ played in one. I do believe the first threepeat Bulls were superior to the second threepeat Bulls. Early 90s Jordan was shooting 50% from the field and 40% from three in the Finals. Horace was superior to Rodman as an offensive player and was bigger at 6’10.
As Bill Simmons once pointed out, those early 90s Jazz teams consistently won 50 games. By 1997 and 1998, they won over 60 games. What changed? Nothing. The league got diluted by the mid 90s with a bunch of guys wanting $100M contracts without playing a single NBA game. Right, Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson?
The 1996 Bulls are kinda overrated. The 1992 Bulls went 67-15 in a season when two Canadian teams were not added yet. And since Jordan is close to the same age as many of his Dream Team teammates, they were all like ages 28-29 in the absolute prime of their careers. The 1996 Bulls won 72 during another expansion season while Sonics won 64 or 7 more than 1995 with practically the same roster.
The 1991 Bulls that went 61-21 in the regular season went 15-2 in the playoffs. They barely lost Game 1 to the Lakers. MJ privately told Kobe that the 1991 Bulls was his best team, not the one from 1996. Kobe said this on All the Smoke podcast only weeks before his death. But the media will always gas up the 1996 Bulls because they went 72-10. The 1991 Bulls won 61 and then 15-2. That much hyped up 2001 Lakers won 56 and then 15-1.
I’ve been thinking recently about David Robinson and Patrick Ewing. Man, put more respect to their names! David was probably my favorite player when Jordan played baseball. A devout Christian. And people easily forget what a collegiate phenom Ewing was. I got the 1988 Kenner Starting Lineup of Ewing because I like him for having the same name.
Jordan was so great, he dwarfed guys like David Robinson and Patrick Ewing who would probably dominate the league if they played in this era. Giannis can’t even shoot and he’s regarded a top 3 player. Jokic doesn’t defend like The Admiral and he’s considered the best player. Here is Kevin Durant showing love to Patrick Ewing and David Robinson on Twitter/X…
    twitter.com/KDTrey5/status/1526718323412480000
Did you know back in the 80s that most of the No. 1 picks were CENTERS? And Jordan dwarfed them all: Olajuwon, Robinson, Ewing, young Shaq in the 90s. Think about how lucky Shaq and Duncan were. One of them would make the Finals from 1999-2007. If they were born 10 years earlier, they would be losing to MJ and be no different than Patrick Ewing. MJ would turn Duncan into Brad Daugherty.
But yeah, whatever JJ. You’re not fooling anyone who actually lived through it. So if Jordan dominates so much, it’s because of weak competition? Maybe Jordan should’ve went 4-6 in the Finals to claim he had better competition? And CZcams highlights don’t mean shit. They’re just highlights. Younger people who watches won’t understand the context from it. They weren’t around to understand the hype. They didn’t live through it to truly feel it.
Jordan was more heroic in the second threepeat but was statistically and athletically better in the first threepeat. His team was also better in the first threepeat.

Its refreshing to see a playoff matchup worth watching between the Nuggets and TWolves. No cheaters, no BS, just two powerhouses going at it.

The return of the Alpha and the return of the dominant center is a great thing for the NBA. The sunset of the mercenary era is a necessity.

Edwards embraces "The Culture" and my antennas are up with him. He plays hard and his game is enjoyable but he exhibits the same narcissistic behavior of many current-day pro athletes. He is not to be put on a pedestal.

Go Ant and the Wolves, we're so fortunate to have this dude, especially OG's like me, when Bird and Magic rewoke the league, and of course, MJ and Kobe, I've been saying since his first season, get ready everyone, he's "next"!

I honestly have no idea how the Western conference is going to play out. It's going to be a blood bath. Playoff mode Kyrie and Ant-man are wild cards that could upset the fabric of the universe. If Boston wins the championship it'll be because whoever makes it that far is going to stroll in looking like they just did 8 rounds with Rocky Balboa.
Despite the league's best efforts, basketball is fun again.

People like Jokic and Duncan are more sigma than alpha lol. Quiet, unassuming, and humble but will still destroy an entire franchise if push comes to shove. And both bookended LeBron's career with humiliation lmao.
That being said, I really like Ant Man but the future is definitely Wemby lol. Dude's got the physical gifts and the mentality of some of these monsters. Ant-man at his best could be the next MJ or Kobe but we literally don't even know what Wemby's final form is.

The only thing AE lacks a bit is mature thinking. Sadly, that can backfire... but if he can manage to avoid childish scandals, everything is possible for him for sure. Oh, and Skap, put respect to the rest of the world's basketball as well. NBA Champ is a NBA Champ not WORLD Champ.

But, that fire, that "f**K you I am not gonna hide my confidence while STILL being a good teammate and sportsman" mentality from these players gives me some hope.
