This is soooo great. One day everything will be A.I. and nobody will have to do any work at all. We can just sit back and think of all the things we were able to buy when we had job's. But wait with no job's there is no pay. And no pay means you can only think back to when you had money to buy things.
Thanks for the sharing of ur AmazonGo shopping experience. Really love it. Definitely, the cashier-less shop makes it more convenient when shopping. U don't need to stand in the line for a long time because there is no line😂 For such a rapid life rythem, especially in big cities, this kind of shops is really attavtive. However, I am a supporter for the traditional shops. Not only creating more jobs, but also it builds some connection between the customer s and the cashiers. I really love the small talk when checking out, the weather, the plan for Christmas, and so on. It
makes me feel being a part of the society as a human being, ranther than just a tiny part of the huge society machine.
My forecast is that in 3 years we are going to see cashier-free Whole Foods! What do you think?
We have the same trend in Europe too, a local grocery store chain replaced about 80% of cashiers with self-checkout counters, it's a less sophisticated system using bar codes and item weight, still, it has the same effect of reducing labor cost.

Silicon Valley Girl very interesting that your getting alot of "1st look" to areas that are rural and yet to see these new atmosphere of store, only thing would be a less line of employees to have oppurtunity to work or may aggregate a couple of engineers and maintenance guys besides the already employed there to stock the store.

Just yesterday a nasty cashier scanned my item twice at trader joe and I asked the manager why there is still no self service and he said we valued the interaction with the customers 🤣

Yes, that’s a great step into the future, but it means that in another decade there will no longer be such position as cashier, and lots of people will have to find another job

Yeah, like how word processors eliminated all the typist jobs. omg ppl with fast fingers are all homeless now! Get a clue dude, no one wants to be a cashier because they love it. They do it be cause they have to but got no other skills. There will be plenty of other low skill jobs they can retrain to do in 1 day.
Only third world countries like China has this mindset, the US wants those labors to work for somewhere else that can’t replace by machine, so US can increase the productivity.
I also thought that, but they must have an army of programmers and IT specialists to service the cameras, control the algorithms etc we don’t get to see the operations behind it, also a lot of packaging, special stickers etc and and I guess it’s pretty high-end still unique concept, she paid almost 40 dollars for junk food snacks and a couple of protein bars; essential shopping is still done at the markets, I would personally go there once out of curiosity
There are more places to work at than a grocery store. It's your fault if you struggling to work for pennys.

We have been having Whole Foods in New Orleans for many years. My friend shops there because his wife makes him go there. I went with him a few times, and I am convinced that he was ripped-off (cheated). Our "regular" groceries stores now have a section with the same exact health foods for half of the price. I swear, I looked around at the people shopping at Whole Foods, and they were hippies, and "the walking dead". No one looked healthy. I thought I was in a horror movie. I eat a lot of meat, eggs, and milk. I can get the butcher at my store to cut the best filets and other meats for a fraction of their costs. Oh, I am very picky about my foods.
It looks like there are many pre-made plastic packaged items available in the store.The technology seems amazing though.
That was nice!!!! If you could try to hand over your phone to your camera guy and you try to pick something in the shelves and see if the app is still correct.

Yea , the mark of the beast chip will even charge you for farting it sounds funny but it's not they will claim your farts are letting in methane gas which is polluting the environment and will charge you a carbon tax which they will automatically take out of your ''free basic universal income''. I use try not to believe in God but there must be one because the world of man has nothing good to offer there must be something better!

It’s a neat idea, but I won’t support things like that and even avoid online shopping as much as possible, because I want to go to a person working to encourage jobs.
China had these kinds of stores 2 years ago when I was there. These aren't the first cashier-less shops in the world.
What if you put stuff back in the wrong spot? How does the AI respond to that? Additionally when someone else picks it up later and puts it where it belongs. It might read it differently since the location that customer got it from is different. Because I didn’t see dot codes on everything in the store.
