    I had the same mixer with the same problem. Thanks to this video I now once again have a working mixer that I would have otherwise scrapped!

    A very interesting video. Because I had a couple of Honda's in my collection. The GX240 is sold, (very very dirty carburetter), and the G400 is demolished. It's very easy to work on these engines in opposition with Villiers engines because of size bolts and nuts etc.

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 5 lety

      I suspect the Villiers has Whitworth sizes much like the PAZ1 (I have one of those as well, as I note, do you). I now have metric, AF and Whitworth sets.

    Great video. I've got same Belle Mini Mix 150 but it has a Robin EY08 engine. It starts and runs fine. However, when mixer is left off in its resting position, there is fuel coming out of the air filter unit. I've taken the filter off and can see petrol coming out through the air filter opening on the carburetor. it's as if the carburetor chamber is over flowing out into the air filter. Any fixes please?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před rokem

      I expect that the needle valve in the float chamber is stuck down. You need to remove the carburettor to clean it, paying careful attention to the needle valve and float to make sure they work.

      Easy start. Just allows you to test the engine assuming everything works but the carburettor which is usually the case. Going to a scrapyard tomorrow to do something similar to a mower.

    On My Honda gx100 engine I’ve noticed that behind the air filter sponge that the breather pipe seems to be squirting an excessive amount of oil I have recently changed the oil could it be that I’ve over filled it

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 5 lety

      It is a breather and if it is pushing out oil, over filling is a possibility. Also a possibility is engine over heating if the fins or airways are blocked up.

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      Ah. Is it grey/blue smoke? If so could be piston rings in a side valve engine or in an OHV could also be valve stem oil seals as well.

    • @mattseymour8637

      yes it is blue oil, and is a second hand, does this help?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      You're burning oil. As well as rings etc, have you checked the oil level? If it has been overfilled and only burns oil when it's warmed up it could be over filled. Where abouts are you?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated... it's a belle with a Honda engine, it got knocked backwards in the garden....the engine was flooded with oil... took it to pieces, cleaned it all down, replaced spark plug and filter...have checked carb... I just don't understand why it's not staying on?!?!?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 4 lety +1

      Does it start every time but always dies immediately? If so, it sounds like a carburettor issue. Start by turning the fuel off, take off the float bowl and turn the fuel on (catch the fuel in something for disposal). If you get a flow of fuel that isn't a tiny trickle, you'll have to strip and clean the carburettor. There's lots of little jets that may have got blocked. Video the strip to refer to when rebuilding.
      If you don't get much flow, then check the filter and fuel tap.

    It's Honda. That is interesting. Where do you get new points from?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      You don't. There a pain to change on a small engine, you just clean them if you have them. Are you sure it's a HX50? I couldn't find that in Honda's list of engines. Also, it may be more modern than their points based engines. (Say 1990 and newer are likely to have non points based ignition).

  • @tonypinto8212
    @tonypinto8212 Před 5 lety

    Engine oil comes out of it immediately on starting so I don’t believe it’s due to over heating so you say could be fins or airways what are these as I’ve just bought it

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 5 lety

      Check your oil level then.
      It is an air cooled engine. There are fins on it and the flywheel where the pull start is, is also a fan. It blows are over the engine fins to keep it cool.

    How do you replace the ignition coil as it has stopped producing a spark?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      It would depend on what the engine is. Also, it isn't likely it's the coil. If the engine is old enough to have points it may be that. Again, what is the engine on your mixer?

    thanks for posting this. I got a 2014 belle 150 with honda engine. I used it to mix founds for a conservatory a few months ago, it ran all day. Lately it's been a total bugger to run. I got new air filter, new plug, put new oil in it, filled according to the manual destructions. It will start and run for 20 secs or less and cut out with a puff of smoke and lo and behold the plug is either wet or black !. No matter what I do with the choke the plug is sooting up in the few seconds that it runs. Melting my head. Can you give me any ideas ?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety +1

      have you cleaned the carburetor? Note that if the carb is flooding the needle valve could be blocked.

    • @roontunes
      @roontunes Před 6 lety

      gosh, thats good of you to respond so quickly. I'm fishing around in my workshop to see if I have something to try cleaning the jet as you have done. Other than that the carb itself looks in mint condition. If I can't find anything, ( possibly a little stiff fishing line ) I'll see if I can buy online what you used and report back. Thanks again.

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety +1

      It's most likely to not be the jet but the needle valve failing to close. The float is normally held in by a pin, which if you pull it out allows you to remove the float, then take the needle out and clean the valve seat. Be careful as the bits are small. Don't loose them.

    • @roontunes
      @roontunes Před 6 lety +1

      Yep I got a perfect piece of fishing tackle and the jet seems clear, I got no resistance or gunge at all so I'll try the needle valve, missus has the tatties on the table so will go at that leater.

    I think it may be seal's. Can you get a new oil sump seal?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      The oil sump leaking (if it is) will not make the engine burn oil. It could be the valve stem seals. What sort of engine has your mixer got? Also, does the spark plug get covered in oil?

    The engine is the Hx50 and what you mean by points?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      What make of engine? Points are (or at least used to be) what caused the coil to spark, basically a set of contacts that gets broken by a cam on the crankshaft (or the camshaft) in a small engine or part of a distributor in a multi cylinder engine. Not used with electronic ignition.

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      Also, how do you know it isn't a plug fault?

    • @mattseymour8637
      @mattseymour8637 Před 6 lety

      I don't think so as i have put a new plug on it and tried with old and new plugs and both won't spark. is it the coil then?

    • @BensWorkshop
      @BensWorkshop  Před 6 lety

      What I do to check the ignition is to put a Philips screwdriver in the plug cap and hold it whilst turning over the engine. This should give you an electric shock. I do that as seeing a spark in a small engine is a pain. I also have a spark detector which flashes a neon light.

    • @mattseymour8637
