I have mine for almost an year now.
Before bought it I was a bit worried about the reviews and unreliability.
Now with experience on it I can say that the udr is a very reliable car. I never had any issue in almost a year. Nothing broken, completely stock.
If you use it in the proper way, is very reliable. The problem is many people use it in a wrong way.
    My advices.
    1) use it with 4s batteries. The mechanics of this car suffer a lot with 6s. More wearing, more temperature. Seems like this chassis and mechanics are not designed to run in 6S. Only the engine but nos the suspension, the transmission and the general design (locked diff, higher centre of gravity). Using it in 4s you will save a lot of money in parts and is plenty of speed to drift and make good dust clouds
    2) the car is not designed for crazy jumps. Is not a basher. Is a desert truck replica, designed for high speeds in irregular terrain, sand with small jumps (no more than 50 cm). If you use it in that way the car responds great and is very reliable.
If you want a crazy speed machine or a car to make crazy air acrobatics, the market have other options.
If you want a car that looks, drive and behave like a real one, enjoying watching how suspension works. Drifting in sand or dirt roads this is the car for you.

Just saw this video, and comment, I never saw any of the negativity and was a really late adopter of the UDR mostly because it was my first car back into the hobby that had been on pause since I bought the very first Rustler VXL when it originally came out years ago. I bought this for the realism just like you and have found it to be ultra reliable as mine is bone stock accept the steering servo which i changed because i wanted some more speed out of it. Im honestly perplexed reading all the hate towards traxxas in general as of late as well as towards the UDR being bad. Then I watch videos of people driving and racing this truck and im honestly so confused. Maybe its my back ground but Ive never been able to drive a truck like this so fast than i have this one. Its honestly the fastest and most fun car ive ever had. Something with RC car drivers as of late that may have not grown up with slower cars before lithium batteries took off or something? just expect these 10lb large RC cars doing 50mph+ and jumping 10 feet or more in the air are supposed to be "durable". I honestly dont get it. Ive had nothing but good luck and how ever my brain and hand coordination work have found this to be the easiest most rewarding RC car ive ever driven. My yard is full of small whoops style terrain and its an absolute blast to watch the suspension work nearly identical to the real thing. For me best RC car ever, but non the less i bought 2 more of these along with tons of spare parts just to make sure i have this thing around for years to come... yet still havent broken a thing, go figures. Either way i still dont see anything on the market coming close to driving like this truck does so i will continue to stock parts that are unique and special so that if ever discontinued ill have a chance to keep in going for a long time.

It's definitely *not* a basher, don't get one just to beat on it, it won't last. Traxxas even says that in the owners guide. I've broken the front sway bar about 3 times, rear one once, a couple caliper mounts and a front bumper. But still stock electronics and drive train. Overall definitely worth it

I have had mine for three plus years I love the fact it handles as the 1-1 it is a real drivers truck, but yes have had to swap out a lot of stock parts most because of breakages, the others because of excessive bending and to sort handling issues.
I have fitted about 90% of Vitavon Racing's alloy upgrades, along with a smattering of GPM, Hot Racing and TRAXXAS upgrades, even alloy wheels Pro-Line Hyrax tyres, sand paddles the list goes on it is the one that I keep in the car so if I need to kill time or just see somewhere that it would be fun to run it, often I have my Clone Super Baja Rey made by King Motor/30degrees North together as this is another one I often throw in the boot if I do not have my dog with me.

I owned a SBR 2.0 before and sold it after the first ride, although the Short course/Baja cars kept itching and I recently bought a Mojave 6S and it's a way better car compared to the SBR. Although the Mojave has some upgrades like talion parts to make the width a little wider and different tyres, it's a lot more serviceable. Also the SBR has a crappy battery box, the SBR looks really good though, I loved the way it looked. The SBR tends to roll over a lot, and once it goes, no way you can correct that.

I think with these from what I have seen, upgrade all Suspension components, ditch all stock electronics, use Aluminum skid plates, do the open diff, get extra fans, whatever you can do to lower the center of gravity on these will help.
I don't know what temperature the r/c grease and oils break down, but I use the red Valvoline high Temp bearing grease meant for cars...It works wonders on my bikes, I'm gonna try it on the r/c truck too

I always go losi if I can. The udr is a cool rig, the losi is better. And if i was thinking udr I'd think again and go gas 1/5 scale, losi! Ha. I like most of the trophy trucks though. If I came across a udr I'd add her to the heard but overall I'm not a traxxas guy but I do have a few just like every guy with sever several rigs. Traxxas stuff usually just has too many weak points, but they have made some leaps with the maxx and xmaxx, even the hoss seems like a solid rig. So who knows I guess, something for everybody I suppose.

I got a Baja Rey 1/10 2.0 instead of the UDR. They are a pretty fun design. Might do an element RC with IFS kit to make a smaller one so I can run it in more limited spaces.

I have been very close to buying the UDR but in the end I decided on the Baja Rey and I hope I have not made a mistake. It is somewhat smaller and cheaper but it gives me a feeling of quality at least at the same height as the UDR. What do you think. Greetings from Spain

I run that Baja Rey very Hard. I love that truck so much I bought a second one to do all the upgrades for it. Shock ends are quickly going to be your enemy. That rear third member on the rear axle should be replaced be eating up ring gears. I also like the gpm bearing end caps. The front diff case/bulkhead is going to be necessary to keep from destroying input/ring gears if you really send this thing. That front shock tower will have to go once the plastic one snaps. After this get the Hot Racing slash rear spring kit. Use the black ones on the front of the Baja Rey. Heck the rear shock towers should be replaced also in time, HR are nice💙 . - All else should be good👍😁

Edit: nevermind. I just found it on Thingiverse. Thanks bro!
Thinking about building one of these over the summer. I just love the way it looks in running vids I have seen.

I had a 6S XMaxx not a single problem with the esc in two years I buy a 8S XMaxx and used it under 10 times and the white smoke came out they wouldn’t warranty it so I bought a max6 my only complaint is if you spin the the truck whilst going forward to move in reverse the esc brakes instead of going forward like the stock esc would so next I’m going to try the mamba X esc I hope it works like the stock one

Max 6 ESC with the original 2200KV-motor? I did it to my Revo but didn't drive it really since the conversion. My friends say since the Max 6 is limited to 1650KV the ESC will run unecesserily hot and so I run hot by trying not to.
    Whats your opinion?

Does make a very competent FPV platform with the DJI FPV kit and putting the camera on a servo and steering mixxing to it

Any r/c truck can be broken when driven beyond it's design parameters. This is a scale truck not a basher. It is inherently more fragile. Drive it like you want but be prepared to drop a small fortune to keep it running. It's not a fault of the truck. Maybe if they had just put a few more rivets in the titanic she'd still be floating today but for those of you that like to run into and jump over icebergs......oh well.

Arrma and Losi only. Mojave and Super Baja Rey and lil Baja Rey are two of the best truck on the market. Traxxas does make two great trucks though in my opinion, the TRX-4 defender and the Xmaxx. (Don't own either of these yet but will get the TRX4 first)
