    Circa 1975.
Temps had been up in the 80°F to 90°F for the last week of April and first week of May. Dad plants corn on May 5th. Comes June 24th, it fell 6 to 8 inches of snow. The corn is totally covered. This was the very first year he planted corn, a little 30 acres patch, and thought it would be the last.
Summer comes with lots of heat and average rain. By the end of July, the corn was 14 to 15 foot tall. Farmers from surrounding towns who had been planting corn for over a decade were coming to have a look at this, as they had never seen anything like this ever.
I remember how tall your crop was last year at this time in June. It was almost belt high when watching you go through it. I'm sure this year crop of yours will be as big or bigger than last year. We never know from year to year with crops anyway ;)

We use to fight that every year especially in the cold sandy ground, in central Louisiana where I'm at we try and plant the last days of February to the middle of March, right now the corn has tasseld and most of it has already formed the complete ear, however getting back to the yellowish/ purple color we fought that until we started using pop up fertilizer sprayed directly into the seed furrow our pop up consisted of mostly phosphorus and very little nitrogen, the phosphorus is what accelerates root development and allows the plant to take in all the other nutrients available in the soil, we've done test where we purposely turned it off for a round then continued using it on the rest of the field, the pass without it stayed yellowish and purple while the applied area outgrew it two to one, however at harvest there was essentially no yield difference where it wasn't applied once the temperature warmed up the untreated area would catch it up, but I know what you mean it can worry the hell out of you when the whole field is that color

I'm about to be 30, I dont remember ever being able to wear a sweatshirt in the morning in Michigan at any point in the summer like the last couple years. And from when I was born to about 5 years ago it was common for it to get very cold and snow by mid November, now that's not the case. And we still get about the same amount of snow per year, but it only snows hard a handful of times, and then ends up melting. Tourism for skiing and snowmobiling in the northern part of the state has really taken a hit.

There's to do with the sun, moon, the wobble of the axis and oval orbit that is never taken into consideration. But you are correct. Neutral Enzo to slightly negative Enzo historically gives us a not so nice winter in the Great Lakes and upper Midwest as well.

@svthorasailing4868 we will adapt. The purple haired people, I don't have much hope for. The moon can even pull water up from the soil just like it raises the tide.

Actually I sail and learned that the the tide is created by the earth’s rotation and spring king tides and neap tides are effected by the phase of the moon and it’s adhelion or perihelion (near or far)from earth, the tide is controlled by the earths rotation into the bulge of the ocean at the equator but then accentuated also by the phase of moon and elipitical orbit etc etc.
As for the moon pulling moisture up in the soil I wasn’t aware of that but talking about corn and Rhizome species it’s said they have a dark aspiration so also they are the nightshade family like potatoes 🥔 which are said to be toxic high in alkalinity like milk weed and opiates, many flowers.I digress cheers for the information and chat, take care.

The purpling is a build up of photosynthate in the leaves that can't get to the roots likely because of sidewall compaction. It will grow out of it but you likely need some rain to soften things.

Be interesting to know which test methods the laboratory is using to get their figures with. Molybdenum is one trace element to think about what is going on. Might look at the element interaction wheel to provide some clues. Sometimes in the early stages, I assigned poor plant growth to just the pollution dispersing out of the city and getting blocked by the hills and sitting in hollows. Your houses appear to be too close to use fresh strong odor chicken litter as fertilizer.(full spectrum multiple trace elements in the chicken feed then applied pre-plant as chicken litter can give corn a boost). In the future might consider selenium for the corn and cobalt for the soybeans.(one quick cut and paste- Too much lime can create an iron deficiency and tie up essential nutrients such as zinc, copper, boron and manganese)

In the mid 80’s I grew strawberries - no internet - I had chlorosis from leaf tissue analysis. Started foliar feeding with Lefingwell products with boron & zinc didn’t help. One day in some magazines I got it said that if you wanted to create a nitrogen deficiency in the lab to increase amount of phosphorus. I had been banding triple 19 close to the strawberry plants and cultivating it in. After learning the lab result information I started to broadcast the triple 19 and cultivating it in that solved my problem. I have no idea what your problem is.

With as wet as the spring has been with some pretty large rain events the rain compacted the root zone for the young corn plants and with it being cold the water isn’t leaving the soil fast enough. With your hot days coming up as you say the plants will be able to do their thing and grow right out of it.
