Excellent coverage of all the questions I could not get answered on other videos, such as actual speed of an NVME drive with this hub enclosure, and how to carefully locate it beneath the Mac Mini - it does look much better below. Now all I need to do is locate where I can find the rubber feet to elevate the hub enclosure for added airflow. Thanks much.
I have a similar M1 Mac set up. And I have been using that quiizlab hub with it for some months, and it works fine with two SSD's. It's a very nice and relatively inexpensive storage solution as your video clearly shows. Nicely done. Stay well.
Is it also possible to connect it to your iPhone through the back in stead of the Mac mini? I would like to connect other devices to my phone like midi and audio interfaces while charging the phone at the same time…. Just looking for additional features.
Nice review. I like the added rubber feet for heat distribution and adding an external power source to power the SSDs based on other stuff I have read and seen. I plan on using an Iphone 20W (5V at 3A) charger. I also got the Samsung 970 EVO Pro. Fast for future proofing....
I have a question … can you connect usb c on the back of the qwiislab to an IPhone instead of the Mac … say I wanted to connect an usb midi keyboard and play into my iPhone? Would the iPhone be charged and able to send audio to headphones while receiving midi input … ?
I got the Hagbis branded version of this, with the addition of a Displayport on the back... Sadly, mine was unreliable. Both drives randomly dropped out, an my Displayport output was abnormally tinted Magenta and green. These hubs are cheap as... but they are still Chinesium. The quality is only _just good enough._ Mine fell below that line, and was bad. I honestly wish this would be released with a power jack and a brick. I really feel like these would be better powered.
Why in the world didn't you run a BlackMagic test on your internal SSD right after testing the NVMe drive so we could see the difference? I'm guessing the speed wasn't that much different.
Thanks! FYI: Gbps speed rating is giga "BITS" ( lower case 'b' after the G means bits while capital 'B' is bytes ) , so 10 Gbps is 10 giga bits per second. Would like to see which 5 amp 30 watt charger was used but do appreciate the mention of this issue as I'm suspicious of any dock that isn't self-powered.
Lol I know I realized after the edit I said it wrong multiple times in the video 🤣. Ill see if I can get a name brand for the wall brick I bought, it came from amazon. The dock is self powered but there were some issues with this dock and others with the mac mini thunderbolt port getting to hot and failing die to to much power draw. This wall brick powers the dock so it only uses the thunderbolt port for data transfer
use a seperate power supply for the hub not the included usb c to a cable as it will not supply enough power you will need a min of a 3amp power supply but i sudgest 5 amp if you can get one i had this hub and it worked great how ever a webcam i had hooked in blew the hub on me i was not happy when the camera die and took the hub with it thankfully it did not harm my mac mini m1
I hope you are backing up to the cloud. All your hard drives are connected to the M1. I had an iMac which was shipped with bad memory. It corrupted every drive attached. The only thing that saved my data was an online backup.
What are you using to power it? I’ve heard and read a lot about the drive(s) disconnecting when the Mac goes to sleep, have you seen this, and if so, how are you dealing with it?
I heard about this as well. I don’t recall the video I saw, but I read a comment that says it’s just an error message caused by the M1 system and not to worry, because the Mac Mini properly disconnects all peripherals when it goes to sleep.
Forget how it looks. I think you should take the Qwiizlab device, put it aside the mini and have it turned upside down so the hot air can escape through the vent.

You have been very lucky indeed. I'm on my 3rd and 4th units, They self eject the larger ssd units by themselves.

Thanks for this great review. Thinking about buying the m2pro mac mini. This would fit my needs perfectly.

Thanks glad you liked the review. Enjoy the hub it’s almost like it’s an accessory that’s needed for a clean look on your desk.
Have you tried using the hub with your iPhone connected to the back instead of the Mac mini…. Does it charge your phone and send an receive data???
I have a similar M1 Mac set up Nice review
Thanks man very useful
Great review. Like you I use an external power source.
Buen video, felicidades, sigue así
great video by the way

Are you just using a phone charger brick for the 5 amp power port?

The dock looks good, one question of mine, does usb can charge the phone when mac mini is in sleep?
Could you provide a link to the AC power 5A adapter?
What power block do you use to power your Quiizlabe with a 5 watt output?

Has anyone else experienced a significant loss in wifi speed with the quiizlab connected to Mac Mini? If so what did you do to remedy the situation
Good video

Your welcome I got a few more reviews to come with accessories so stay tuned
hey, can i ask a question? did you manage to boot from the Qwiizlabs SSD?

By the way, I have a Mac Mini and have not had this issue at all. I’m assuming Apple either fixed this in one of their updates.
Very informative! Thank you 😊
Will this work with the 18?
Not aluminum? Qwiizlab says that the UH25 Pro (looks like the one you review) is made of aluminum alloy on their site...
It looks and feels like aluminum but it is in fact plastic but it does look pretty spot on.

Have you tried the setechi hub???
They are not powered, if you are running some drives, even memory sticks and so forth, you really need a powered hub!
