Incredible coincidence! I was practicing "Armando's Rhumba" and I was having fingering issues with arpeggios. I'm only 6 minutes in and this has helped out A BUNCH!
Kent - Thanks again for a fabulous reminder of Arpeggios with upper extensions. This was one of my Mom's ( Piano Teacher passed) favorite pieces. I love the 1-5-10ths and broken chords. I would love to have this lead sheet if possible to help me complete what You started today. This will take me some time as in intermediate who needs to practice more everyday. I love the voicing You display. While I am still taking lessons every 3 weeks (teacher is (120) miles away, your tutorials are a great fill in. Thank you again for sharing your special talents with all.😀
Thanks for the comment...I only have a lead sheet, but you can learn a lot from the video alone. Heres the score: file:///C:/Users/Owner/Downloads/Tenderly.pdf
This is really great stuff! Your chords are rich and your lessons are loaded so many rich features that I learn new things every time I watch! Thank you!
Your book is awesome! I didn’t get a chance to dive in right away, but it is so complete and yet concise. I have since spent more time with it but still working through all the material.
Boy that penultimate chord, a D6 it looks like, was beautiful. I’ve done a Dmaj/Eb in that situation, which is similar, but this chord really made me take notice.
@@KentHewittpiano88 No, the next to last chord. There’s no run, just a chord. It looks like the last 3 chords are Db (a secondary dominant), D (D A left hand, F# B D right), then tonic. I’ve used basically a tonic diminished (where the D is a color note - Eb C left F# A D right) in that spot, which seems similar, but not what you did. It’s the chord for the “er” of “tenderly”. Hope I got everything right there. I like the way you present things. You give lots of ideas one can work on. I’m going to have to get your book.
Okay ....I thought you were referring to the very end....after the last part of the melody. Yes, it's a delayed resolution ...ending on Db9 and then up a half step to D7 approaching the tonic , and ending on the tonic.

GAWWW-jus, KH!! ❤ 🎹❤(BTW, did you get the piano tuned? Sounds great!) 👍
Thanks, Marilyn! This original video goes back a while. We're still in NC.
What a gorgeous arrangement! Are those arpeggiated chords the same as runs or are runs a bit different?
Arpeggios are usually symmetrical, and runs usually have more notes. Arpeggios have more skips, and generally runs are stepwise and/or chromatic.
@@KentHewittpiano88 Thank you Kent! : )
Can’t find your sheet on arpeggios on you web site
Sorry, I don't believe I wrote a transcription for this lesson. You'll need to learn these by watching the video a few times, and maybe making notes.
@@KentHewittpiano88 thank you

Are you referring to the first chord of the 2nd half? The next to last run is built on an Abm chord (or Db9).

Kent, I thought this was a Jimmy Van Heusen tune. Am i wrong?
Jack Lawrence wrote it.
Of course the Muppets version is the G.O.A.T.
