- Webb's rather good cover of the Johnny Cash mega classic for Webb's Country Music Time Album.
Recorded February 26 1965 Columbia Recording Studio, 804 16th Ave. South, Nashville, TN - Webb Pierce (Producer: Owen Bradley)
I am 78 yrs old... I grew up on this man singing... I am a Canadian Christian Hillbilly! All my family LOVED Country and Western Music/HankWilliams/Webb Pierce/Kitty Wells/Patsy Cline ALL OF THEM! I listen to Sirius Radio every day in my car .. put the windows down and FLY AROUND WITH THE MUSIC BLARING- PEOPLE MUST THINK A 78 YRD OLD WOMAN WITH WHITE HAIR IS CRAZY! lol .....
I surely do! ❤this song and singer.
What a beautiful song! What a great performance! That's why i became a fervent brazilian fan of country music.
That picture at
I'm Back for another listen. You can't keep a good singer and his fans down!
I have this one in my collection, I managed to get hold of a copy when I was serving with the British army in Germany back in 66. I was seconded to the RAF and there was an American contingent on camp and they had their great PX shop to which I had access. They stocked lots of Country music albums there and this was one I was happy to find., plus King Edward cigars. I was living like a king, drinking German beer, smoking King Eddies, and listening to Webb on my stereo player
Listening and sharing again.
soo great song what a voice he has ..love it
I love the way he sings this , as much as Johnny Cash!
Johnny Cash wrote this with his nephew, Roy Cash Junior. Johnny recorded it in 1958. It was recorded as the flip side of "Don't Take Your Guns To Town". I just found that out. Wow, how many singers besides Cash could have a great song like that as a "B" side???
Just listened to this on another channel...made me miss you~!
Saw it; had to hear it!❤❤❤
some beautiful country music thanks for this one love it
Thank you for sharing good old Webb!
Glad you enjoyed it !
In that great group picture l can see Little Jimmy Dickens who made a big thing out of his stature. I was more surprised at Faron Youngs height. Another of my favourite singers.
Love it by the Statler brothers
Returned for another listen. One of Webb's finest efforts!👍
I never heard Webb's version until just now. I notice that it's in stereo. Is this one of those "augmented to simulate stereo" deals, or was this song actually recorded by Webb in stereo?
Better than Cash's version
