Most police cars dont drive as many miles as people think. The main thing is the idle time. 6 hours of idle and 2 hours or driving. EVs are perfect for this type of work.
Exactly. I did a project years ago for Michigan state police data logging their cars. They would idle for hours and maybe get driven 50 miles over a 10 hour shift. Some highway patrol cars would get driven more but it was nothing to see a car log 50 hours and 50 miles in a week.
Eva are great, until it’s cold or hot out
Doughnut time.
@@6or7breadsticks Stop with that nonsense. Extreme temperature will have no functional effect as long the battery capacity is oversized. Just like these Blazer 9C1.
@@Neojhunnorthern cities will have issues in early January if theyre not using an indoor garage.
Yes!! Compare this to the NYPD Mach-E cruisers! They’re all around the city, especially Central Park
West side highway area as well. I’ve seen quite a few around the NY Presbyterian hospital 168th st
Yes do a video comparing all the EV police videos would love that!
Just install chargers at the donut shops 🍩 ☕⚡
I can 100% see that a police EV that weighs 50% more than a comparable ICE car has better acceleration and will come off best in a pit maneuver every time.
I think in the future police will use the grappler no more pit manuevers, and for that to work you only need speed and EVs have plenty of it
I would love to see the Comparison between the current ICE vehicle and it same class BEVs.
Thank you for the video. This segment is so important to get the info out to police forces and you guys are perfect for that job.
I see that silverado police truck back there
Honestly, police forces adopting evs should go a long way to promoting evs to many moderate and right leaning people. It really proves their utility well. Glad to see Ford MachEs, Tesla 3s and Ys, and now Chevys with the Blazer all get adopted. I look forward to seeing them proliferate.
The police worshipping Right is a very small segment of the population. Most understand that they are simply an extension of the Government. They do what they're told.
Sadly people want to defund the police so it may be hard to get them
Michigan State Police release vehicle testing reports every couple years. They are a fascinating read. It's both a technical and personal experience deep dived on the performance of current and potential police vehicles.
Jordan's jacket @12:59! Love it, especially in a cop setting.
Just in case anyone is curious, pricing for the "9C1" is $57,395 before upfits. Interestingly there is also a "9C3" AWD for $400 less.
The 9C3 is the detective patrol car version and not the regular 9C1 traffic patrol car version all the gear and back seat modifications. 9C3 is stealthier than the regular 9C1 with its light bar and rear cage setup.
Those things look awesome! If I saw one around my town I would probably drive/walk right up to a cop to see it.
I encountered a Ford Mustang GT EV in NYC. Cool looks aside (the lit up pony in front looks so good with the police livery) , it also crept up on me totally quietly. Perfect for police work.
Doughnut shops across the country have heard and are ordering charging stations
Oh great Kyle, now I want a Blazer PPV !!!
HI Kyle I know that parking lot well! Welcome to my Campus!! That's one of two locations where they Train Police in Oakland County for OCC. ;)
I recognized it as well. We used to live by there. Strangely enough, my mom went to the OCC in Waterford and then the Orchard Ridge campus but not the nearby Auburn Hills campus.
Y vs Blazer - yes!
BRING THE FOB TO THE BACK to open the lift gate. LOL
Hey I was there at that conference!! I loved getting to drive the blazer PPV and the lightning support vehicle
I appreciate you getting a clear enough shot of the QR codes on the dash that we can scan it for the Blazer EV PPV CZcams link and the webpage…👍
This is so awesome! Glad you shared this!
My dad was a cop but he retired in the '90s. I remember on his Caprice that he drove as a company car, it was unmarked but still equipped as a cop car, there was a button to deactivate the dashboard lighting, so you could sit in a running car but not have any light inside it which would ruin your night vision on a stake out. I have to assume that you can also defeat the daytime running lights on a modern police car, and I wonder if they're going to give them a switch to turn off the pedestrian warning audible signal.
Yeah, the night vision thing is why they had a red inside light in the one Kyle sat in.
I'm wondering with the extra thermals for this package will it make it's way into the SS version.
Great video. Definitely get that comparison test going!
I do love the Tahoe police suv
Too big, it must be like going on patrol in a U-Haul. Cop cars should be compact-size or smaller.
Kyle just loved this 😂😂😂 fun to watch!
The amount of times Kyle says ‘hell ya’. Love it 😂
3:30 - "it's got a Cop motor a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got Cop tires, Cop suspension, Cop shocks. it's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas..." (best Dan Ackroyd/Elwood Blues voice circa 1980)
Looks like you had a great time with the Blazer.
The town I work in has a model y. I've never got the chance to see if it's setup for actual patrol duty or if it's more of a demo car or to move people around. Still cool to see it charging on level two outside.
Cheers guys
Nice. I wonder if they were able to upgrade the payload capacity to 1,500 lbs. That tends to be the minimum payload requirement for LE agencies (four to five adults plus gear).
Being from Michigan this is a cool video ❤❤❤
Great video :) Any chance to cover the famous Michigan State Police testing all the new available cars and trucks made for civil service?
About time to see Kyle omg 😳 Mia for too long
They had way too much fun. Any mention of the speed limitations on the police version?
I’ve seen a Nevada Highway Patrol Mach E.
Been wanting to see a Police special with Model S acceleration! Saw a video with a M2 performance that had been modded to test as a cruiser. It was impressive as far as it went.
Yes, please!!
Still waiting for the SS, have had one reserved since reveal day in July ‘22. I’ll be pretty mad if these show up on the streets first lol
Wish there was drone view of you taking the course
Can you add one of these pulling over the autonomous vehicle in your autonomous tests?
Shades of Smokey and the Bandit......Police EV Cannon Ball run!
Your laugh sounds like money and I love it hahahahahah
Three Equinox EVs in that parking lot!
Add the Mach e police car as well
I'm thinking these would be great for urban police and in cities or towns. Maybe not so much for highway patrol and such. Then again, not sure how much a typical highway cruiser actually drives per day. As long as they charge it up at night, they should be fine. Or if there are charging stations around, they can charge it on their lunch break or something. Guess it depends on the area. There are probably a ton of charging stations in places like California... but not so much in say, South Dakota.
To bad that here in Europe we still don't get dedicated EV police vehicles. BMW i4 police, Polestar 2 police would love to see something like this 😊❤❤❤
I see redline reviews was also in your video lol. Inception.
You need to get a blazer ev and equinox ev for testing!
Is the rearview mirror a camera
Camera based switchable Rear View mirror has been on GM vehicle for nearly a decade now. You very much can get it on normal consumer cars.
Lets see that EV police car comparison!

When the cops drive around all day in their EV police cruiser and then have to drive their gas car home, they will want to get an EV for their personal car pretty quickly. It’s hard to go back to gas after driving EV

It's Buford T Justice, oof it's the Bandit.

So Kyle, how many times have you been on the other side of a police siren? Asking for a friend
Lower weight center and more mass weight at bottom of frame = Improved pit maneuver ability.
EV cops can takedown heavy trucks.
PPV race to Vegas 😮
Yes haha, like that one. General motor police, goes after ford and ram, and stellantis 🙂 Yes, general motors ev only the best. That all other ev's is not good and needs to be taken off the road haha.
They absolutely need an EV PPV Tahoe with 400+ mile range. Blazer is too small for me working rural county with SWAT gear, boat equipment, drones, etc.
I can almost guarantee my department will get these (university PD, and the U wants to electrify all of their fleet.) I can also guarantee cops will hate them until they get to use them then… they will love them. The acceleration alone will endear them to cops.
button to turn on the lights in the trunk are stupid.... Why wouldn't they just turn on when it knows it's open...
This is the first time hearing about an EV Blazer. Could it be considered a Hot Hatch?
Were i live, most of Police Cars i have seen Parked their always Running 90% of the Time , Evs will make sense in the City but for Highway Patrol ICE Cars makes Sense
Yes for now.
I have a question about actual miles driven versus EV miles available.
For instance, I have a 2016 Fiat 500 E. It estimates my range will be 85 miles. But in practice, if I drive on the freeway, and drive with any amount of speed, it’s really closer to 65 miles, and if I do that, those last 5 miles are white knuckling because I’m at 15 to 18% Remaining, and if it drops below 12 then the vehicle goes into slow mode.
I’m willing to bat that a police vehicle is going to be driven harder than my Fiat. So if you drive this blazer on freeways all day at 70 mph, what does that 200 mile real world range become? If I reset on my experience, then it’s more like 170 miles which is significantly more than the 80 you’ve quoted as the average miles driven.
Here’s a thing though: if 80 miles is the average miles driven, that would mean that some police cars drive less, and some drive more. So what is the main, the median, and the mode? Even so, I’d be surprised if they were very many police officers more than that. However, if you did, you might not be able to use the last 10 to 20 miles of range for police level work. In other words, it would be foolish to start a pursuit in a gas police car when the fuel gauge reads empty. But if you had to do that in an emergency, you could theory drive at full power until you ran out of fuel. And for most vehicles of that size, you have between 20 and 40 miles of range remaining when the fuel gauge reads empty.
in an electric police car, do they make allowances for this? Do they allow you to drive faster? I would assume no, because it’s not just about how much charge you have, but how fast the charge leaves the battery.
To say that I don’t think you’re getting three shifts out of one charge on these. More likely at best you’re getting two, and you probably be wise to only do one, keeping the vehicle at 80%.
It would be nice if there was an app on there that shows the constitution.
there is more knee room in that blazer ev than the exploder thats for sure
Awesome! Felt sorry for Jordan being thrown around in the back filming 🤢
I wonder about the reliability as the police drive their vehicles like the stole them, or at least around here they do, even when just cruising
Race to Vegas police style, no speed limits
What's with the "Hell YA Brother's"? I think you've been watching too much Cleetus McFarland!
"Sick" doesn't make sense when used in a positive context.
"Sneak up stealthily", not stealthy.
The automatic charge port door does not go "bzzzzzzz" LOL okay now I'm just being silly 🤪
It's got a cop motor, a 440 KW unit, got a cop chiller, It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks..... unfortunately the charge curve is for shit.
It would be amazing if they added some custom ai charger, that plugs into the car when its parked and as soon as there need it removes its self before they even get to the car so they can just blaze off . Instead of having to go all the way around to unplug the charger , store it , then only be able to get into the vehicle.
There are some startups making wireless chargers for EVs
@@vaddimka yeah true, but the energy loss to charge is really bad currently. I think it would make much more sense for a quick disconnect rather than a wireless charging idk just speculation.
@@Sushi_219 re: "idk just speculation." well it's good that you can at least admit it, cause you are in fact REPEATING old information that you heard someone else say, because said "old information" about excess energy loss is now incorrect.

The only change they need to make is paint those steelies silver. Black steelies look so tryhard on cop cars and junky and unfinished on everything else.

Petrol heads: I can outrun it
Also petrol heads: 3MPG when they mash the throttle. 60 miles on a full tank of gas.
To get 3 mpg out of a gas car you're looking at well over 500 horsepower.
With about 3 miles of driving skill.
@@otm646 All it takes is a V8 and hitting the throttle.
Another thing that I can complain about a lot, not just about electric cars, but about every modern electric device: can we stop this business of measuring the batteries full charge, but telling consumers and users they shouldn’t go past 80% of that?
If it’s going to ruin the battery go past 80%, or 90%, or whatever, then make that 100%. There’s software in there that can judge how much capacity you actually have, why are we playing this game?
To me, smart phones and electric electric cars should follow the rule of gas cars. Full is whatever is safely the most, and the case of these kinds of batteries about 85%, and empty should be at about 15%. But we should stop telling drivers those percentages. Because it doesn’t help, all it does is make you think that there’s something wrong with the car. Plus we shouldn’t be in a situation where doing what makes the most sense based in the information given an hurt the car.
Then as the vehicle is used, the system can make allowances for people usage. For instance, if the driver uses the built-in GPS, and getting down to 15% would have the driver be 2 miles from home, the software could compensate for this. Either changing when it says the vehicle is empty, or offering reserve charging for the driver to get the rest of the way home.
On top of this, as the vehicle gets older, if some of the capacity is lost, the system can choose to charge past 85%. Of course this is a tricky choice, only because doing so may accelerate the degradation. But I’m sure there’s a way in software to determine the best choices, or else give the owner the option of override the limits by going into a menu on each charge cycle individually

Evening guys
Rob a bank in some small town, easy getaway... oh 5hit!!!
Not to be too critical Jordan bu US police wont be carrying an AK 47. Maybe an AR15 or something like that
So sad that you guys still have not understood that people out there deserve these so-called upgraded drivetrains. Everyone should get them, and then the police just buys the cars from that range. Must be very hard...
Speaking of GM: back in the day, you could only get the 454 V-8 on the 2wd Suburban. Cause who would want more power AND more ability to connect that power to the ground at the same time, that'd be stupid..?
Add all the electrical equipment and that battery doesn't last as long. If they get in a chase it won't last as long and will have to be recharged sooner which takes them off the street. I know you are a EV fanboy but at least look at all the variables. Also take into account how hard EV's are are on tires as an added expense.
All fun and games till you run out of Range... And that will be very Fast when you have your pedal to the metal! AND it's below 50 degrees!
What a bunch of absurd nonsense. That will never happen because the range capacity is way more than a single shift. Just the reserve range alone is more than enough for a car chase. It's funny you believe your bad assumption is plausible.
"below 50 degrees" WTF? These Blazer EV are perfectly happy at 20F weather.
@@Neojhun lol. and the cost? Prolly 2x at LEAST of ICE, but let's not forget a FAST Charger cost... BUT. oK who cares about the cost right? It's just gov't $!... Great vehicle when budget is no obstacle.

Seems great to me, no reason they need to know that stuff. Just a bunch of car youtubers.

3secs in and I know the 81miles avg. Is meaningless when compared to an EV. They would go through the battery like there is no tomorrow. They will have the AC and the heat blasting all days and will kill the range. There needs to be charging at key spots where the officers sit anyway and have a quick release if they need to respond. Then they can sit charged and ready to go.
These can for sure make it to the evenings to charge overnight. Cars use far less power for HVAC and accessories than driving down the road.
LOL what a bunch of absurd false assumption. FYI EV Police cars have been in service for several years now. They do perfect fine and there is no really range and battery capacity problems when you have 75kwh or more. You are just making up absurd assumption with zero reasoning. Real world operations has proven it works perfectly fine.
Not nesessarily. It depends how they’re used. If you figure cops drive about 80 miles per shift, then even at 80% capacity they should be able to pull two shifts a day, plus A/C and heat (assuming it has a heat pump) on a single charge.
If I were a policeman I'd prefer a bullet proof car with 4 wheel wire steering that drives like a sports car. And it should be American made. Gosh, where could I find such a thing? Not at GM. And not at Ford or Stellantis.
NO PD has a large fleet of bullet proof cars. Those are just not practical or capable of doing things like highway patrol. Bullet Proof vehicles are extremely heavily and massively compromise the vehicle performance. At most certain panels on a Police are Kevlar composite reinforced like the door panels. That just adds a couple hundreds lbs and look near stock. Which can be easily done to these Blazer EV.
Why is the government wasting tax payer money on these gimmicky electric cars?
The instructor thinks it won't be good for doing a full shift. I guess you can't change old minds.
He didn't say that necessarily. He said that they had long shifts - and critically, there was no rest for the car. It went right back out with the next person.
The solution to that is to spend some amount of your shift at a charger. On a long shift, you have to spend a decent amount of time on break. If you can spend that at a charger, that's probably perfectly fine. Even better if it prevents them from inefficiently charging to 95% all the time.
Ha Ha Ha I can’t wait till all the woke city’s buy these for their police
