Dr. Beeke, new to me, gets right to the conflict I’m experiencing - I can’t say I flee from the world as much as I should, but I do continually feel revulsion for it.

'If you live according to the flesh, you are going to die.' (Rom 8:13)
This is one of many verses in the New Testament that show how saving faith is always accompanied by good deeds. The idea that people can be saved without repenting of their sins is grade A heresy.

One can not repent without being regenerated first.

@@DogSoldier1948 Well, that's a different issue from the one I was commenting on, but I would certainly disagree with you on that.
It is true that people can't come to repentance or saving faith without God doing an awakening work in that person. As Jesus says in John 6:44:
'No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.'
God needs to awaken people to the extent that they are able to have faith and repent. But it is unwarranted to say that this awakening needs to go as far as full regeneration. And there are many biblical passages which teach that faith leads to regeneration.
For example, in John 5:40 Jesus criticises some Jews by saying:
'But you are not willing to come to me so that you may have life.'
Notice here how Jesus wants them to come to him (in faith, understood) so that they may have life. Regeneration is the gaining of spiritual life, so this verse implies that faith leads to regeneration.
Those who say that regeneration logically precedes faith say that if you come to Jesus it is because you have been given life. That, however, is the opposite of what Jesus teaches here, and in other places in John's Gospel (John 3:14-15; 3:16; 6:40; 20:31).
