Great tips from our awesome Benjanin Zulu, but know what both Benjamin and Joyce concentrated more on dating partners and almost ignored the married couples with the same traits.Why? My wife is one of such silent types but we have been married for 39yrs. I only came to know why after I registered in counseling therapy college that made me understand that you can't change such people because they were born like that, its their personality type(Blue) and introverts. After discovering that, I then understood how to treat her and the rest is history. On the issue of the red flag Joyce and Benjamin, you are wrong. Dating a partner with this natural temperamentals you cannot see them at the beginning. They come to exhibit later in marriage and I can warn you in advance, when they display it, it comes with too much insecurities and embarrassing public scenes that only the faint hearted can tolerate. In most cases it drives the other party to promiscuity easily because the house becomes unbearable and the element of friendship in that marriage disappeares completely. I managed to mitigate mine in the first 5yrs of marriage but wasn't easy. She never changed completely instead its me that changed my approach to issues. Natural traits never go, at all. I have counselled over 500 couples in the same situation but because I managed mine early, its always easy for me to reunite them albeit with difficult transformation journey.

You see, when you don't know what you don't know, you cannot get out of a situation. For example, if a person grew up with parents who bully n abuse them into submission, it is quite likely that they will end up in a relationship where they will go above and beyond to please their spouse.
A person has to know a thing or two about self love before they can even strive to love themselves.
And then when they learn about self love and that it's actually ok to want to be and do things for themselves, it takes a lot of work to undo the prior beliefs and damage.

The behaviours you are describing is called narcissism and can be diagnosed as a narcissistic personality disorder. There are 4 main types that are more toxic; Grandiose, vulnerable, communal and malignant. I just came across this channel and I love the discussions. I live in another continent. Narcissists are everywhere around the world and the behaviour patterns are similar. Unfortunately, it's more prominent in some societies than others due to the norms or if they are more patriarchal.

Going silent can be another way of showing how tired you have now become. Building up ideas of peace in your discussions or arguments with the person that all they do is to self defend, not willing to apologize following a long list of wrongs you have showed but still you notice pride hanging on their attitude. Silent treatment gives them opportunity to rethink and revisit their behavior to make corrections.
