Calif. Zephyr in Ft. Morgan on 01JULY2024

- This morning's California Zephyr arrived in Fort Morgan at 0614 MDT (31 Min. late due to slow orders east of here between Yuma to Akron). P42s #15 & #124 brought the 8-car consist to a stop with car 7 to the station ramp for passenger service to 2 new patrons. There were no detraining passengers.
Meanwhile, the headend crew gets lunch for the cab ride to Denver. No table reservations at Denny's this morning. LOL!
With the station work safely completed, Sam gave the high ball and on a clear signal, the Zephyr continued west toward its next stop t Union Station in Denver.
My thanks, as always, to the operating crew of today's Zephyr.

Good Morning, Mike. Great avian chorus today - must mean a good day for you. Predicted t'storms this after noon which could produce flash floods.
Charleston is opening up free garage parking for residents to escape the water. You stay safe & cool. Watch out for that pollen.
God morning, Jim; I thank you for tuning in as well as the comments. The chorus was chirpy this morning. The humidity and the temps almost matched numbers here for a while. Felt like I was back in Norfolk again. We still have lots of clouds but little to no chance of moisture from the sky. I hope the flash flooding doesn't happen back there. Nobody needs that.

Thanks for the response. I was thinking that at this station, Amtrak isn't just a tourist destination - it's also a practical and useful alternative to driving.
And train travel certainly beats the air travel. I do travel long-distance, and this is the only way to do it.
Just from appearances, it looks like a fair number of people to and from Ft. Morgan are using the Zephyr as very practical transportation, with a noticeable segment headed for Denver.
Good evening and thank you for looking in as well as the comments. We have passengers from a lot of area that use this station. South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, and many from the front range as well as northeast Colorado. I did notice the parking area was less crowded today as there were several who returned on last night's #6 Zephyr. Denver is one destination. The gent I was chatting with was headed to California. Another popular destination from here is Glenwood Springs on the western slope of the state.

Afternoon Mike. Nice to hear the chorus is in fine form, today. Two revenue and one deadhead. An unusual Ft Morgan stop. I kind of hope those clouds don't portend T-storms later on. Though I doubt the farmers wouldn't object to a few drops or so. 108 predicted here, but it's 103 as I write this. Stay cool and safe. I'll check in tomorrow. 5:06
Good evening, Phil; Thanks for dialing in along with the comments. Warmer than usual temps and high humidity are good for something. LOL! The chorus was in good form today. It stayed cloudy here until around 1500 Local. Then got hot. We went from 80 to 90 F in an hour's time. Again, no measurable moisture today. Less tomorrow.
Oh well. At least the humidity dropped to reasonable levels again.

Good morning, Mark; Thanks for stopping by along with the comments. The humidity and the temperature are nearly the same numbers this morning. It took until almost 0300 for the A/C to stop cycling. Now the pollen is really enhancing the air column. Need to rename this "Sneeze City". LOL!
I wouldn't eat at Denny's anyway. LOL! Rather choke down my own cooking. But they don't equip the cabs with a hot plate.

This same consist had no Baggage car last week,maybe a shortage in Chicago or some of the cars maybe bad ordered,well anyways have a great day Mike!

The humidity and the thermometer numbers almost match out here right now. 74 F. and 73% humidity. Not comfortable. The A/C didn't quit cycling until it was time for me to get up this morning. Still no chance of moisture to speak of. Oh well.
