  • In this video, I am reviewing the new Aldi Workzone Bandsaw available on Special Buy. The price when I bought it in November 2018 was £ 79.99. Do check the review to see what I think about it. It's based on the Scheppach HBS20 bandsaw, and has almost identicial design and technical specifications. The only thing different is this labels and stickers. One drawback that I forgot to mention on the video is that, this bandsaw doesn't have a mitre slot. So you would need to be creative by creating a jig on the flat table !

    Tuffsaw replacement blade (verify actual length: 1400mm (?), 10/14 tpi for smoother, but slower cut, 4 tpi for ripping): www.tuffsaws.co.uk/index.php?...

    Thanks for your review. I think I’ll pick one up next time they are in store.

    I have this model and this is pretty accurate. The stock blade is 14tpi, 1/4" (6.5mm) deep and good for thin pine planks and plywood, but terrible for resawing even small branches. I'm looking at a 6tpi 3/8" (9.5mm) blade to replace it with until I have enough space for a larger bandsaw!

    The motor is the same in the Aldi version, the Parkside version and the original Scheppach; the motor is rated 250 watts no load (constant) and 350 watts full load (intermittent). The two ratings are called S1 and S2

    A good review thank you. I would only use this to cut shapes. Long rips is what my table saw is for.

      very true. that was a good enough reason for me to get a table saw, haha..

    Bought this from Aldi this week. Looks good but I've had a huge issue with the blade coming off of the wheels. Tried adjusting the front wheel angle, managed to get the blade central on both wheels but when manually spinning them the blade comes off again. The wheel was also really really loose. Sent it back and waiting for a replacement. Hopefully better as I had read a lot of good reviews.

      i moved the motor ( and under wheel ) 5mm backwards , by adding a spacer between motor and chassis

    I have just bought the Aldi Bandsaw. It all looks good but I found a large piece of shaped black plastic behind the bandsaw blade inside the band guide. It has the letters ABS on it. It was loose and not fixed to anything. Is this just a piece of packing material or is it part of the guide. If it is part of the guide how does it fit onto it.

    You will struggle to do long rip cuts with the supplied blade. Fit a 3TPI ripping blade and you will be amazed at the difference that it will make.

    just looking more closely at the way you clamped the 2x4 you used a kind of horse shoe shaped scrap of wood to guide the work piece, but looking closely it appered that it was intermittantly jambing the work piece. so the problem in cutting this peice wasnt the machines fault but the way it was being clamped..Take a close look at the second attempt to cut it..keep an eye on the clamp it appears to be intermittantly wedging the work peice against the blade

    • @SujMenon
      @SujMenon  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, I agree on that 100%. That clamp was getting in the way. The curve was supposed to give it some flex, but didn't workout as expected. I have later upgraded my rip blade to a 4 TPI one, and that works properly. The stock blade isn't that great for rip cutting longer pieces because of the higher TPI count.

    Get a good quality blade and see the difference.

    To resaw timber u need a bigger blade bro. That 1/4" blade is too small for resawing man. If u can get a 1/2" blade on this saw u should try it or a 3/8/2 blade would be better. If it takes a 1/2" u need to get one for it and I think u will see much better results.
    What kind of timber was that? That looked like the treated 2x4's I used in my shop a while ago. It has this stuff that stuck to my table saw blade. It was so tough to clean off the blades afterwards and I was only using the treated timber for an outside door frame.
    I built out my workshop in a garage similar to ur one with the same type of garage door. The big metal door was damaged so I put a frame work in there and hung a single door instead of 2 big doors that opened out into the front yard.
    Whatever they use to treat timber with is really bad to cut. I have a 2HP table saw and it struggled to cut the length f those 2x4's bro.
    SORRY FOR WAFFLING on like this.
    I hope u try a wider blade on ur bandsaw and go for another try. The 1/4" blades are great for small work like the cats head u did.
    Keep up the good work. I ned a new table saw now.
    What is that Dewalt one like? They don't do the 10" anymore??

    • @SujMenon
      @SujMenon  Před 9 měsíci

      Hey thanks bud, yes, I agree. A thicker 1/2" blade is probably a much better choice. However, not sure if that tiny bandsaw can cope with it. I also got a very low tpi blade for ripping, but haven't used it yet. I just use my table saw for it these days. Those are treated 2x4's, and thats probably why it was difficult to cut.
      Btw, yes Dewalt stopped these 10inch table saws now, some EU safety regulation I think

    Cutting the long piece he had guides on both sides this creates a wedge affect because he didn’t allow for the thickness of the blade, get ride of the clamped on guide and it works a lot better let the saw do the work and don’t force it, it’s only a hobby saw

  • @danconway6946
    @danconway6946 Před 3 lety

    The guides are too low on the harder cuts! I usually leave no more than 1cm beneath the guides but no less that 0.5cm so it doesn't strain too much. I would expect a 350W motor would be fine for the cuts you would want to make if you are making a Table.

  • @stevecallachor

    The motor is struggling because the blade is jamming in the kerf. It’s not designed for this task!! You are dooming it to fail…..For the price you can’t beat it!!!

      Was that for the 4x2 rip? Yes, that's what probably had happened.
