- I have an update on my recent super-cheap Bandsaw purchase...all was not as it should be!
AldiUK are/were not aware that I was/have made a tube-vid of the unboxing or indeed that I am a you-tuber so I do not believe this has influenced this resolution.
Kudos to customer services @AldiUK for taking ownership of the problem and allowing me to resolve my issue in a timely manner. #makersgonnamake #swytm #hueylionsheart #aldiworkzone #workzone #aldispecialbuys #aldi #toolreview - Jak na to + styl
I like the Are You Being Served music at the end as well.
Thanks buddy! I really should go back to chucking in a few old theme tunes in vids!😁👍
Bit of faffing but at least they sorted it out for you in the end. And you now have a spare bottom guide too 😉 happy new year bud 👍
Damn... it’s on a cast part as well... difficult to weld and fix... great news you have a new part coming...
Thanks for checking it out Howard! Yes, all's good with the machine now and she cuts very well indeed!👍😁
That was a very good bargain mate. You must be well pleased.... Happy Days...... Great video and Subscribed...
Thanks Terry, Yes, I'm over the moon with it...seems like a decent enough little machine so far!👍😁
Nice one huey good that they got the part sorted for you 👍👍
Thanks Warren, indeed mate and I really can't fault them on the customer services front. Going to get a bit more familiar with it and then do some projects on it!👍
That's a real bargain you have there - love the steptoe music ! Subbed 🤗
Thanks very much!😁 I always try to find themes that I remember from yesteryear just to get a kick out of hearing them again and reminding others what great TV used to be out there too!😁👍
@@HueyLionsheart As soon as I heard it the image of steptoe sitting in disgusting bath water eating pickled onions came to mind lol
@@FixitRestoreit LMAO yep the old boy was hilarious...My favourite?: Harold bought a water bed to woo his latest belle....and the old boy punctured it with a knife...I had tears streaming down my face and a stomach cramp watching that!!!
Are You Being Served. Great show. Nice little saw. Cheers
Thanks Tim, there was a little bit of Steptoe n son at the start too! Those old shows were bloody brilliant. Saw's working well now, I'm well chuffed with it.😁👍
Huey first thanks for the support much appreciated I might suggest that as soon as you can change the blade for a better make also make sure you get the vacuum on as well.
Yes mate that's on the to-do list...extraction is high on it! It's been a hectic few months trying to find places for things to live in but we're getting there slowly! Thanks for checking it out and the sub too.😁👍
Things out of Aldi are supposed to be great. I bought a pair of trainers from there the other day, just for when I'm out scrapping. €15. I see nothing wrong with them apart there's no name but at 37 I'm passed all that now. I haven't seen any of your videos recently. This is a good one. Reviews are always good. 91st like 👍.
I really couldn't resist doing a review on this one. First, the initial price was a massive surprise, second, their customer service was second to none! Thanks for checking it out.👍😁
@@HueyLionsheart Got one half price on special. It's incredibly quiet but the table and the fence are not very strongly attached. The fence is actually garbage. I'll need to improve both. Not too bad for a hobby or a home gamer.
@@julianpetkov8320 Agreed! The fence was indeed lacking in all respects but to be fair, most entry level bandsaws suffer with this. The table too could have been robust and an all aluminium one with grooves for the fences/mitre fences etc would have been much better. 👍I too, struggled to use the fence for anything more than rough work e.g: cutting pen blanks to length etc. I fabricated a somewhat better fence and also a circle cutting jig to get the best out of it, so I definitely share your view of those. At this, price point though steps in, the original price on these earlier workzone units was RRP £79.99. The equivalent (and let me add, the same but with different badges!) Sheppach was already selling at RRP £114.99 and was the next cheapest bandsaw I could find. I will add that this saw got used A LOT and after a year or so I finally changed the stock blade that it came with... I had this unit for over 3 years and actually only stopped using this saw a few months ago after getting my hands on a new bandsaw that has a 6 inch depth of cut. The little Workzone was still performing well so I passed it on to someone else just starting out. I hope you get as good value from yours as I did Julian! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment too. 👍😁
A new Jack Sparrow is born, hahaha. Great video my friend!
Thanks for checking it out! Not sure about Jack Sparrow...but I'd like Johnny Depps money!!! 🤣👍😁
Looks good some things at Aldi are really good quality.
Thanks Wayne, I'm well pleased with it so far!!👍😁
Great video my friend! You're my sympathetic friend.
Thank you for checking it out Engin.👍😁
What a bargain !! good job man .
Agreed! I'm proper happy with it...and the customer service was awesome!(I was worried they'd want it returned to the store for refund rather than me getting another, they only have them in stock occasionally)👍😁
Scheppach are a well known brand, so you got piece of mind there, and a set of. Bottom guides for free as well. Winner
Yes Ian, checking it out and it seems relatively robust for a little machine besides that broken cast....and for the money, it was definitely a steal!👍😁
I have just bought the Aldi Bandsaw. It all looks good but I found a large piece of shaped black plastic behind the bandsaw blade inside the band guide. It has the letters ABS on it. It was loose and not fixed to anything. Is this just a piece of packing material or is it part of the guide. If it is part of the guide how does it fit onto it.
Thanks for checking it out Derek, hard to say without seeing it, but I'm fairly sure it's going to be the adaptor for the dust extraction. Is it similar in shape to a top hat that has had the top punched through?👍😁
great result Huey. do they do a metal version?
They do as it goes Jason! From what I have heard so far it's a very capable little saw too and is detachable from the stand and vice unit. Not sure I'd need it that much(I am looking into a chop saw though when funds allow.😁👍). To say I'm well pleased with the outcome of this little unit though would be an understatement...Will be ideal for rounding out blanks for the lathe etc.👍

Happy days...
Replacement
Are they worth the money??
Very capable little machine....would have been better had in got machined grooves for a cutting guide...but for the princely sum of £89 you can't go wrong....the fact I got mine in the sale for £30 was just a massive bonus!👍😁
Cool vid mate. Bit of a crappy start to the new tool but all ended well worth every penny I reckon mate
Thanks for checking it out Steve and yes..definitely worth every penny!!!👍😁
Too bad bud. Can you take it back.I get gun shy when new is broken. I hope it works out ok for you.
Yes, they would have taken it back no question...but I got this at less than half price of the cheapest bandsaw available new in the UK and less than a third of the price of most entry level units! I specifically asked if I could be sent the part as it has to adjusted prior to using anyway and all in took me 25 minutes from box open to cutting timber. Everything else seems spot on so I'm a happy chappy so far. Thanks for checking it out Dean! 😁👍
@@HueyLionsheart Glad it worked out ok bud. That was a great price for sure.
Not bad for a small bandsaw and I'm glad you got it sorted.. Not buttcheese after all 😂 👍
🤣Nope..no buttcheese here today! Used it a couple of times now and it's really rather good...will probably do a review on it after I've put it through it's paces! Thanks for checking it out!😁👍
The one's this week are 80 quid!
Yes, they were £79.99 the week before I bought mine....the last couple in the store went to clearance and I got one of those for £29.99! I would say they are worth the 80 quid price tag though to be honest, was already planning to get one eventually...the sale just made it too good to miss. The scroll saws were recently discounted down to £40 but I missed it...or I'd definitely have grabbed one.👍😁Thanks for checking it out!
@@Carl_McMelvin it's a pound sterling.
A quid, a bean, a Bob. I take it you're not British? Haha
I got the same saw , put a better blade in and it’s a great little saw 👍
Thanks, once I have let it settle in a bit I'll do just that...the standard blade wasn't bad at all to get me started though...all in all I'm very pleased with it so far. 👍😁
glad you got it sorted mate
Thanks John...Not quite in the same realm as your new beast! But I really had to buy at that price.😁 Now I'm looking for a better place to put it...that corner isn't the best. 👍
Pirate joke?, you funny bunny! Looks ok for the cash £30!!! - glad you got it sorted 👍🌲🦊🌲
Thanks Claire🌲🦊🌲 , it's definitely my buy of the year I'd say....even more so now I've tried it and it actually seems to cut very well!👍😁
Think I've got any chance of cutting aluminium or zinc on one of these?
I'd say most likely not....but Aldi are currently doing a portable metal bandsaw..check that out and see if that suits your needs! Thanks for checking it out!👍😁
It's just that these were awfully compact and my shed is only little.
@@edgeeffect Yes, it is ideal for a small shed but the portable one is an amazingly compact unit too! www.aldi.co.uk/portable-bandsaw-240v/p/019344288136100 check it out!
How can anyone fault a 3year guarantee? Everything I've bought from Aldi or Lidl may not be professional quality but they even changed a battery when it went after 18 months. Never any quibble. If it goes us take it back to them with receipt and get a full refund (even if the price has gone down) 👍👍👍👍👍
I really couldn't knock it Kev, only changed this machine a couple of months ago...and only because I outgrew it, passed it on to someone else getting into making/creating. Was a sterling little machine in that time!👍😁
If you unbox something and find damage return it immediately for exchange or refund.
Yes Dave, they are very good on the returns policy and also their incredible customer service, but this was the last available and I would only have got a refund. I really wanted a bandsaw and the fact it was £50 cheaper than usual price meant that I would have lost out on the chance of a bargain, so I contacted them via email and got the parts for free and a brilliant bandsaw that I used for 3 years and then handed on to another maker when I finally managed to afford a bigger bandsaw. 😁👍
@@HueyLionsheart Excellent work.
Here in Australia I bought a new BBQ at Bunnings Warehouse which is the biggest hardware chain we have here. After two hours of assembly finally ready to put the hood/lid on there was a big dent in the top. I took the lid in and they said well you can bring the whole thing in or get $200 off. The BBQ was $350. I am the proud owner of a $150 BBQ.
I too also as well love a good bargain! 🤣Best of luck mate!
@@daveredd9832 Yes, what a result! 🏆👍Still cooks the same and that’s what it’s all about. Winner winner chicken din….. er wait…. Chicken BBQ!! 👍😁
@@HueyLionsheart Steak prawns you name it it still cooks with gas.... Pun intended.👍
I no eye no aye yep ☠️
Still got this little beast and it's maybe not as much fun as a cutlass but it's a much cleaner cut 🤣👍
