  • The technical specifications of LED light bars often aren't worth the paper they're written on; a lack of third-party verification means some manufacturers and brands might claim what they like. Meanwhile more reputable brands will cautiously publish data, but it's important to be clear how figures are calculated so when comparing one product, or brand to the next that the figures quoted are like-for-like in terms of how they have been calculated.
    No where is this more true than lumen figures. Raw lumens are theoretically less prone to interpretation in how they are arrived at, but effective lumens can be calculated accounting (or not accounting) for a number of different factors. In this video, Lazer Lamps' Founder and MD - Ben Russell-Smith explains the difference between raw and effective lumens, and crucially how we have calculated the effective lumen figures of our lights based on the concept of 'Drivers FOV Flux'.

    Really helpful and easy to understand explanation, thanks. Love how Lazer is so upfront with all their info, earnt a lot of respect and as a current owner of Lazer lights I can vouch for their quality. Just brilliant.

    good explanation and explains why I see better usable light with my Lazer then with other brands with a supposed higher effective lumen output.
