I wasn’t at the table but from what I see I gotta agree with most everyone else on here.
It looked to me like he was shuffling his cards and his hand slipped off. Since you were bluffing and super keyed into his movements you read this as him attempting to angle.

I've been playing poker since the 1970's, so I've seen every angle, heard every word play, made every mistake, experienced every bad beat. I just leave people alone -- angles, words and team play are just more ways bad players give information. I let beginners learn on their own, I find arguing at the table with a jerk never makes a jerk less of a jerk.

Nah, I disagree with you. Some people switch their cards with their hands and peel a corner to look insteading of lifting and spreading. There's nothing he did that was like shady, like, not like he tired to say something that sounded like "check" and then didn't check to see what you'd do. I mean, the chip thing too -- that's just a "tell" more or less. IDK why those things bother you. Notice what he's doing and then use it against him. I think you made a super big deal about it to be honest. It's not like he was talking shit to you or whatever.

Based on the video, it doesn't look like angling to me, but seeing how everyone at your table commented that he did, he probably was. I always shuffle my cards with one hand, sometimes without knowing it when i'm faced with a decision on the table out of habit. I'd prefer angling compared to the constant questions from players, thinking I will tell them Yes! I'm bluffing or Yes! I have the nuts lmao. It's a waste of time and I'm sure it's helpful against newer players I guess, but I never bother to do those things.

I've been at the table when I figured out that two guys were playing together, making big raises against each other on the flop, turn, and river to drive everyone else out of the hand so that one of them would end up winning without showdown. It went on for at least 2 orbits before I finally asked them if they knew each other. They just got up and left with the $300-400 they had just won off of everyone in that short amount of time. The dealer said it was obvious but no one called the floor so his hands were tied. Needless to say, we all learned a valuable lesson.

  • @scbluesman13
    @scbluesman13 Před 10 měsíci +1

@6:00 That is certainly NOT a nitty fold. Lots of us who play recreationally can probably count on one hand the last time we were heads up in a 4-bet pot preflop. In these types of cash games it just doesn't happen very often. A 4-bet out of position tells you several things:
1 - If you 5-bet he's likely going to rip it in.
2 - He's going to lead on like 99% of flops.
3 - His range likely does not contain JJ. It's mostly AA, KK, AK, and sometimes QQ or AQ suited.
You're calling off the additional $115 basically to set mine or catch a straight draw. You already know you're folding out most other board textures. You know what he's got.
You played the QQ hand very well.

I would table change if you’re stuck and the game is full of nits and your image is bad. They will lock it down and not give you action with your good hands unless you cooler them, yet they will find a way to call down your bluffs because your image is bad and they know you will try to bluff your way back.
I’ve been guilty of staying at a bad table and regretting it many times.

People who like to angle with cards and chips generally are weak players. I’d (silently) take that as an edge I have over the player, as opposed to being irritated. As for his big chips being in the back or hidden from clear view, it’s perfectly normal to let the dealer know that violates the rules and I’m sure he’ll make the correction.

You know I love your vlogs and so proud to see how far you’ve come in such a short period. But, in my opinion, I think you’re overthinking the angle. I think it’s pretty common or regular for someone to play like that. Is it right? Maybe not. But playing with chips, trying to get the opponent to think they want them to bet… it’s part of the game. I don’t think it’s any different than “Hollywooding”, pretending to have a strong or weak hand. The only thing I didn’t like is that he played with his cards so close to that “line”. If he did that and then let go, most casinos would say that’s a fold but because his hand stays on the cards the whole time, they’re still in play. That’s a little dirty.. as far as the chips go… I think it’s your responsibility as a player to call that out, let the dealer know that someone is hiding big chips. Keep the vlogs coming! Goodluck @ Hustler!

if card rooms really wanted to stop angels, they wouldnt allow chips bigger than $100 on the table. no one can see them from the other end of the table, and they should require they be broken down to a large stacks of greens, which is clearly visible.

Good video man, I already see a decent amount agree with what I came on here to write. IMO he was not out of line at all. Everything he did was very minor and honestly I love when people do the counting out chips, checking as it gives us good reads of their hand strength. I do not see anything wrong with what he did.

As a dealer I see these moves every day. I would be policing every hand and I’m really not sure if it’s my job to say anything… usually if it offends or is over the line the players police there own game… I really try to protect the sheep / and keep the peace but if it’s a table of regs it’s not really an issue
Very interesting debate and I love the editing

Your best move is to ask the dealer to call the flooman. Explain what you have seen to the floorman (in front of everyone) and he will decide what to say to the player. You are experienced enough to recognize an angle, and obviously you also recognize a weaker player. He was both and he had chips. No reason to call him names when he will be leaving those chips behind.

Sometimes against fishy players I will use the tactic on rivers of watching an opponents hands WHILE I cut out some betting chips. Less experienced players will often be in a rush to call/raise and will begin cutting out their chips before mine are even in the pot. I take this excited response as a tell of strength. Never do it in my home games or in games where I know the table. Most seasoned opponents won’t take the bait. I think not ALL tactics are angle shoots.

Love your vlogs they are honestly refreshing, but it’s a little off-putting when you say “I want to know what you think about this,” then follow it up with, “if you disagree with me, I don’t care.” So which is it? Do you want honest opinions?
The fake bet-check is not an angle. The hand motion is a toss-up. Tough to tell not being there in person. Hiding the big chips is absolutely an angle. I think the way you approached it with him wasn’t super concise but props for calling someone out that you perceived to be exhibiting scummy behavior.

New to your videos. If you’re not a reg at resorts world it can be a tough game. I was playing there tonight and limp pocket tens because one of the regs was to my left and was doing a lot of raising. In this case the flop was all under cards and I kept checking to him. This time he be bet half pot I called and the river was also an under card to my 10’s and he took the bait and bet pot. I sapped and just as I thought he has nothing. He got up and took a break after giving me a sarcastic remark. 😢😢😢

Wow! Every single thing you said about how the "Euro Reg" was angling was completely wrong. Maybe the example you recorded is the only one you have but solely based on this you are mistaken. He didn't push his cards forward and take them back. He didn't cut out chips as if he was raising. He cut them out to shuffle them. And he wasn't intentionally hiding his chips on the table. If he was angling, you are right, it is scummy. BTW, you don't just look young. You are young. At 23, how many live hands have you seen in comparison to people 2x your age? Thousands? 100,000's? Millions? Do you have a degree or years of professional experience in body language? Just some food for thought. Rake it in and good luck.

I would have done 2 things differently, first talk to the floor, RW doesn't put up with shit like that and he would have gotten a talking to, second show him the bluff and laugh in his face with a comment like "your angling is no match for good play, keep them coming and I'll keep taking your chips" then ended with a thank you. This is really interesting, and yeah, very scummy if they are trying to do a fake fold, or acting like they are going to bet, and then do something unexpected, to try to get a read.
