L-39 NG is not the old Albatros, the design might resemble it but I'd say original L-39 is way closer to L-159 than to L-39 NG. I think it goes by "L-39 NG" mostly for the marketing purposes as the original L-39 is well known and used worldwide. But they are two very different airplanes.

By that logic, if weight is the main indicator of LCA then the Saab Gripen, which only weighs 500 pounds more when empty, should be included. Also, they have only mad 40 or so of the Tejas. I have seen videos of the Korean lca it doesn't even come close to LCA Tejas. Early even I thought the Tejas was not good enough, but when comparing and checking I found LCA Tejas much more superior with advanced technology and composite material used which makes it semi stealth. No doubt that its a better and good fighter trainer.
That's why Czech army will send L-159s to pension in 2035 and after that, we will have only drones for such purpose. These light planes are nice, but without some anti-missile system, it's just flying coffin and that anti missile shield is probably more expensive than whole drone, but LG-39NG has technology from Israel, so who knows what that plane can do.

I think you misunderstood. The letter "T" denotes it is a trainer aircraft, not LCA. The combat version of these series is FA-50.
The FA 50 is also top because it is proven and has seen combat. Tejas looks to be interesting but need to see how they will do in combat situations

Tejas was not even well accepted by Indian Air Force. But finally IAF reluctantly accepted it after being persuaded by the Indian government.
