    Thermoking by far! I maintain a fleet which had all thermoking refers but to save a couple bucks they bought some carriers. Those carriers were having serious issues and they went back to the carrier dealer for warranty work with less than 500 hours while the tk precidents had no issues with 9,000 + hours.

      other than the mechanical issues thermo king runs with less noise

      Thermoking is a lot more quieter than carrier. Carrier sales vector unit which is also quieter.

    I still have many questions, but to summarize: Thermo Кing is more reliable, quieter, but parts are more expensive and are better suited for chilled and heated freight ( I guess +20* F to +80* F ). Carrier is better for frozen ( I guess -20*F to +80*F ) loads, parts are cheaper but less reliable. What about age of the units, service hours, fuel consumption, and what parts on both units need to be swapped for new ones after how many service hours (what can I expect to have to replace after so many hours?). Please advise guys as I'm thorn between buying a dry box ( easy work for less $ ) and a reefer ( more $, but fuel, insurance, and potential freight claims are very discouraging), but I don't understand all the mechanical nuances.

      Both units run for long time each unit can reach above 30000 engine hrs. It all depends if you can get load rate to sustain your business. Reefer loads do take nose dive in the winter time. Starting from January can go all the way up to March , so load rate stay very low. However, the dry van business the load price don’t fluctuate as much. It all. If you are going to buy Reefer trailer buy with low engine hrs less the 7000. I hope this helps.

      I prefer the 7500 as well. It doesn’t matter how old is your unit , It will always go to -10to -20 With Thermo king you can’t expect the same results. Lol

    Carrier parts are very cheap. Had to replace 4 genuine starters in 8 months, blow up the compressor, fan clutch was a nightmare... TK is the way to go for me. My TK SB 210 has 38k hours on, runs like there is no tomorrow. I also had Carrier for 2 years, which constantly broke down.

  • @Misesian86
    @Misesian86 Před 3 lety +2

    The truck blocking air flow to the condenser is not a concern. Both Carrier and TK have condenser fans to solve that problem.

    • @citizenofearth1000
      @citizenofearth1000  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes both the carrier and thermoking have condenser fan to provide air flow. But if you have truck with large side faring that restricts the fresh air flow in this situation the carrier units tend to shut down and start again. This happens when the Reefer is parked with the tractor. I hope this helps.

    • @Misesian86
      @Misesian86 Před 3 lety

      Golden Child All three of my trailers have Carriers, large side extenders, small tractor trailer gap; never happens. I used to pull for a 150 truck carrier, same setup, never had one shut off. Company driver with a mega carrier when I first started, same situation, never had one shut off. I’m not sure where you’re getting this idea from? If you have problems with units shutting off that you’re pulling, it’s not properly maintained, not lack of fresh air.

    Some loads require you to have thermoking Like Ice cream loads

  • @raymondreiff8170

    The Thermo King s c 600 only used one drive belt. Vers three on most Carriers, Because the Thermo king units use a generator to drive three electric fans.

    • @citizenofearth1000
      @citizenofearth1000  Před rokem +1

      I like the thermoking more compare to the carrier. I bought used trailers so I looked for body and the hrs on the unit. Carrier are used by a lot of major fleet and tends to have less hrs compare to thermoking

      If you are buying carrier or thermoking used make sure the units have low hrs. Look for unit under 7000 engine hrs. It all depends on what kind of load you going to move. If your loads are fresh produce 35 degree year around thermoking is better. If you are pushing frozen load get carrier is better

      I have seen refers pushing 40k-50. Just keep in mind when you do -10 or -20 loads. If you got carrier you can probably get away with it but if you sb210 or 230 it’s going to struggle specially 110 f temp outside. When it’s really hot outside avoid doing - temps and do your maintenance regularly. You can probably squeeze another yr or 2 out of the unit.

    Carrier 7300 x4 is a fukin junk! Had bunch of wiring problems on 2016 reefer with 5k hours and now I need to replace main micro module that costs $2300 just a module and reprogram and remove and replace will add another 500-600$ so total 3k that I need to spend. It runs so loud and had to replace exhaust manifold twice already. This is my last carrier. Go with Thermo king and save yourselves money and time with family

      What kind of loads you haul. Do you get oil changes done some local shop. I had good experience with carrier. Mainly because it used kubota engine with no filter or egr stuff on it. Thermoking sb units are very good and reliable units
