The best I've seen. Short but effective! Thank you.
This is the most helpful ombré with pigments video of all time. Thank you for the detailed steps and tips along the way.
You are so welcome!
Totally agree. Thank you so much
I've tried the baby boomer in so many different ways and they were all difficult, will definitely try this!
Did you try it? How was it??
For anyone who is interested you can also make your own powder with nail chalk pigments (sometimes called acrylic pigments to mix with acrylic powders) which tend to be much cheaper than ready made powders. Grind them with an efile slowly to make sure it is finely ground, store in little jars and follow her steps. This is exactly how this need to be done.
I cannot WAIT to try this!! This is definitely the best diy ombre video I've found.
Best tutorial for pigment powder ombre by far. Thank you so much

Brilliant hun I love that way ime going to give that a go xx
Thank you! 💖
I have played and I find the under cured matte top coat to work the best but the similar colour and gloss top coat is good too but like you said can be grainy 🙂. I need to get the Magpie white pigment, there are none as white I find 😒.
A Great video very informative thank you so much
Thanks for watching! 💖
magpie the best
What a great method and very simple. I wonder , could you use dipping powders instead of the pigments
I love this! Could it be done with eyeshadows
Can this also be done with colored acrylic powder, or does it have to be a pigment? Thanks!
Love this 🥰💕other tho I’m a beginner and just found out about pigment
You got this! 😊
Omg I love you
Omg, so glad to have found your video, I have a bunch of pigments & never ever thought of using them this way, thank-you so much for making this video, now I know what I am doing for my next nail look lol
hi please can you say what kind of thing you put first and what do you apply the whites several times on powder?
This is a great video. Thankyou for sharing. With the 2nd technique do you cure the coloured gel for only half the time or a full cure? Thanks!
Full cure! 😁 apply the gel polish just as you normally would then add the pigment. Thanks for watching!
New subscriber💕Looking forward to bing watching your channel 🤣🤣💞
Thank you so much! 😍💖
Great video! I have been looking at all boomer videos to get as many tips as I can. Would you put a thin layer of trinity on before you apply the Cotton candy? Or is magpie pretty strong? When working on a client do you worry about the pigment getting onto their skin? Or once you put the top coat on and cleanse the pigment will be easily removed from skin? Not sure if a latex barrier is needed.
A latex barrier is not needed, the pigment washes away super easily if the clients wash their hands or if you use alcohol to wipe it off. If you don’t use a type of hard gel underneath then this would just be considered a gel polish manicure, so it depends on the type of nails that you are trying to achieve. I personally rarely ever do just basic gel polish manicures, I usually do hard gel. Thanks for watching ☺️
Honestly, it's the most flawless and easiest baby boomer technique I've seen. Definitely going to try it. Thank you. 🤗🌼 They're all pretty.
It makes it so easy!
@@NailsByKatieDutra It really does and looks seamless. 😊
Did you try it? Did it come out week? I’m think about getting this pigment but want more opinions 😊
@@KelleyKouture I did. I used different pigments and it works just as well. Neon pigments look great, too.
@@46Sans awesome, thank you!! 😊
After applying top coat over Matt, will it chip ?
Thank you. New sub
Thank you! 💗
can you use mica powder??
💖💖💖
Can i use regular glossy top coat for every step onstead of the matt one? Or it wouldnt give the same effect?
It’s not going to give you the soft ombré effect. It will look a little more spotty and dark
Hi if I were to use Akzentz Luxio delicate for the baby boomer using the magpie baby pigment would you recommend using the velvet magpie top coat steps? If I don't have the Diamond top coat could the Luxio gloss be used or the Don't be tacky?
You can use whatever gel products you already have ☺️ and all the same steps
Do you remove tacky layer from matte before you add power?😊
I'm so trying this, already tried the 2nd technique and it showed a lot of stripes.
Where u oder them?
When you apply the matte top coat and after curing, are you wiping the tacky layer before applying the pigment?
If it has a tacky layer, yes ☺️
I’m rewatching this now that I bought some pigments. Do you wipe of the tacky layer of the matte top coat before applying pigments?
I didnt in the video, but I know some people do 😄
Thanks - I had that question too!
Where I can buy this kind of pigment?
the matte must be tack-free?
The first technique, cure half way, wipe tacky layer, apply pigment then finish cure?
Does the matte top coat need to be a no wipe ? is this why you only cure for 50% of total time? The one i have needs to be wiped after curing and just wondering if this will still work...
I would think yes, because if you cure for 1/2 time it is still a tiny bit tacky but not much. If you have a matte that needs to be wiped I would try it on a tip first and see what happens!
@@NailsByKatieDutra I’ll definitely try it on a tip! Thanks xo
Can v use normal top coat if i donot have matte top coat..?
It must be matte top coat or it will look patchy
Does the matte top coat need to be a No wipe?
I haven’t tried it with a non no-wipe. I would try it on a tip first! ☺️
Are you wiping the matte top coat after the first 30 second cure?
No I'm not 😊
Can you do this same method without Matte polish in-between? Like a shiny gel top coat?
If you put the pigments into a sticky top coat they will look more grainy ☺️
@@NailsByKatieDutra ok thank you so much!
How long does it hold on the real nails
My clients come back after 3-4 weeks with no problems ☺️
Please help me understand why you use matte top coat to apply pigment is it because it isn’t as tacky upon 1/2 cure and pigment isn’t as vulnerable to bleeding where you don’t want it?
Because it gives a much softer effect. If you apply the pigment to something sticky it looks grainy and it sticks so well it will be too much.
@@NailsByKatieDutra Thank you so much! Thus technique opens a whole new world of fun ombré and income producing possibilities!
I love this technique, but couldn't get white to be as bright as yours 😪
So... my friend... will you talk pricing?? What do you charge for an ombré? Per nail? Oh , and btw, thank So much for the tutorials 🥰 I learn so much from you 😍
It all depends on what you need to make per hour and how long it takes you. I usually charge for art by time.
Can a DIYer buy the pigments ?? How gorgeous they all turned out
Yes! All nail art products are available to anyone.
@@NailsByKatieDutra Thank you !
Why do u have to matte it first?
It’s makes for a softer, less grainy, look ☺️
This one seems a bit easier for me to do than with the color acrylic powder.
Baby wipes instead of paper towels... even better. I get at dollar tree.
That would work but I don’t think I want my towel to be wet, since I want to work with the dry powder 🤔
The white pigment, Baby is sold out 😭 Have you tried any other white pigments that you like for baby boomers?
I haven’t tried another white pigment, you can probably set up a notification for when it comes back in stock ☺️
No offence but i couldnt be bothered doing all thise steps...its easiers to do it thr old fashion way
No offense taken. Nail Art methods are a personal preference, to me this way is easy ☺️ there are many different ways to achieve one design.
Wich one is the old fashion way?
