UK Driving Test 1/6 - LDC driving schools

  • Part 1 of 6 parts of a full UK driving test video from LDC driving schools (www.learnerdriving.com). These videos form part of the revolutionary LD System. The LD System video programme is used in conjunction with the LDC driving skills workbook. These resources together with guidance from an expert LDC driving instructor provide one of the most effective and efficient ways to learn to drive and become a safe driver for life.
    Too many driving instructors focus too much attention on telling their pupils what to do and what to think! This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly and thoroughly.
    Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection rather than being told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves - to become good decision makers.
    If you would like to learn this way visit:

    Call 0800 400 777 if you would like to book a residential driving course with LDC in Pontefract followed by a driving test. As you can see Pontefract is a nice quiet town and as such is an ideal place to take the driving test. Pontefract is in Yorkshire close to and between the cities of Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster and York. Direct trains go from Kings Cross London to Pontefract and take about 2 hours. In the video you can see Learner Driving Centres main offices and training centre.

    I had a driving test yesterday and I had two examiners in the back of the seat and the instructor in the front. Here in Slovenia its a little bit different than in the UK. I drove very carefully and thank god after 35 minutes they told me to go back to the place I started. I passed in 1 try. To all the people that are doing the driving test in the future, wish you all the best! Cheers.

    Good job! Driving is enjoyable. Once you pass your test, you will develop your own style of driving. The hardest thing (in my opinion) is remembering to check the mirrors and blind spots, even though they sound like the most simple things to remember. Now you have your clutch control sorted, you're halfway there. Good luck with the rest of your lessons and test! P.S - I once read someone say "Eat a Mars bar before your test, it worked for me and my friends" I did this, and it worked! Lol

      WakinTheDeadFan So there I was at the ripe old age of 19 in school learning how to fall out of planes when suddenly, they allowed us to go home for a couple weeks for Jesus, peace be upon him, Christ’s birthday. During that time, I decided it’d be a wise decision to get my driver’s license to add on another potential way to day in my life. I passed and upon completing my school of falls, I received orders to Alaska. This was around January time and being young I got my car as soon as possible. I remembered the first time I drove on Jack Frost’s asshole, I attempted to turn into this one driveway and ended up in the other driveway down the road. Scary times, but I persevered and learned that driving slow in icy conditions is the way to go.

    If it was your first lesson, you will gradually get used to the clutch control. After a while, it becomes stupidly easy. You do it without thinking about it. Just pull the clutch up slowly, whilst applying a bit of gas, once you feel the car start to edge forward, you have your biting point!

    roads and streets in the UK are so narrow, bendy and full of humps and all kinds of traffic signs that it makes driving more dangerous on the UK roads, there is not enough room for the cars to pass safely especially in residential areas, there is no adequate parking spaces, people park on the pavements, children play on the pavements, to give way to the oncoming traffic drivers have to stop in the passing spaces. Roads in the US Canada are the best in the world, they are straight, easy to navigate, less chances of a collision because all roads are wide, a mistake does not result in a collision, you wont find never ending road markings everywhere, drivers can concentrate on their driving, they just follow the traffic lights red amber green and enjoy a drive.

      If you're stopped for more than 3 seconds you have to "secure the car" which means applying the handbrake - if you don't, you'll get a minor fault. The logic is what if your foot accidentally slips off the clutch and lurches forward. You could hit the car in front, or worse pedestrians. In practice, nobody bothers with this after their test.

      @lyd271 Před 6 lety +1

      you don't need to check blindspots when you're turning, only if you've stopped and parked at the side of the street and need to pull off again. You also don't use turn signals in the UK when overtaking parked vehicles just in case a junction is near - by then cars could get confused thinking you're indicating to go to the junction

    • @GoHomeAndGetYourShinebox
      @GoHomeAndGetYourShinebox Před 10 lety +5

      she did say right, but she indicated left before turning left so its not a problem, she should've indicated right just after the traffic lights, so she could've checked the indicators to remind her she was going to go right. Funny how none of the cars in front of her never indicated either.

    • @natshenkin
      @natshenkin Před 10 lety +6

      Ye agreed, but after watching the full video i have a feeling that in this case the exam isn't a real exam. I feel that the lady driving was told before hand to make these mistakes for the benefit of the people watching. She made mistakes so that she could point them out later so that the people watching would remember not to make the same mistakes, while taking their test.

    In bad weather one only drives the distance near to the car in front and average stopping distance one cannot over drive and must following the nearest distance online with other vehicles,, the width of a car door to stop distance for example looking at the lamp nearest on side road is what I was given instructions on by my driving instructors, on my beginning learning to drive in England in the nineties,, thank you Steve

    pff, where i was passing my tests that miss-turn would be end of the test. And it would be failed... And you call this traffic??? Go to the London at 3-6pm you'll see what i'm talking about. Because that says that you not focus enough of where you going or what you actions are...

    haha, did my "driving test" in Russia in '94. Was only 18 then and straight out of school went to work at a port. Walked in to the "DPS" as they call it, not able to speak a word of Russian. pointed at a car and said "prava" (means license in Russian). The lady then asked me for 20 dollars. I thought this was the fee for the test. Gave her 20 dollars followed her into the room and got a mug shot taken. 20 mins later i had a valid driving license, without ever taking any sort of test.

    what if it's very raining and the light outside is poor and you won't be able to read plates from 20 metres ? I don't wand glasses just for riving because when there's a sunny day I can see properly... but if it's cloudy and a bit darker i don't think i can ready the plates. Do they really are that mean and cancel the exam because of that ?

    What is it with the handbrake in the UK? In Germany, it only gets used when you park at a hill... On traffic lights it's just always the foot break.

  • @carljohnsoncj6896

    I can drive pretty well. Do I need to pull the handbrake at every stop or uphill stop. Can’t I just brake and keep my feet on biting point when I’m about to drive off?
