Great video! Glad to see a shop put this info out there! I've been saying this for years about over cam and under compression. I put a similar video out the other month about SCR/DCR and how guys do too big of cams a lot, mine was pretty basic and generic. This one is a lot more informative, and breaks down the why. Great video.

I already know all of this but to hear it come from a company that I’m considering to spending a good chunk of change with is very reassuring and validates my choice of wanting to go thru you guys. A lot of these companies are just copier’s and don’t understand the dynamics and they also don’t have a fundamental understanding or what they’re selling. For example throwing a massive cam on a car with stock springs lifters rods heavy valves stock intake manifold stock heads stock headers stock fuel injectors and fuel pump stock fly wheel as well as running a catalytic converter and wondering why they’re actually losing power.

I know the platform isn’t the new hotness like the gen V engines . But can you do an ls video on this for those of us trying to better understand

In the 70s when they changed the fuel and you couldn't stop a car from pinging a shop I knew would put a big cam in it to kill compression ....I guess now you know I'm an old guy...lol

  • @ClaytonYatescarenthusiast

As an estimate how much compression is added on a stock short block lt1 per .010 of milling? How much compression is added if milled .04? I assume it's not completely linear due to shape of chamber.

i got a 17 camaro ss, just wanted to know what cam would you recommend i saw the whole video and i clearly dont need a big cam my camaro is a weekend car i really dont drive it at all but i dont need a race car just something that'll make enough hp to gap anything on the streets while still reliable looking somewhere around low 500s maybe

How much is there to be gained by milling and running a thinner gasket on the ss1 ? Also would you need to flycut?

So whats the best cam for the l83

Greatly going to depend on your goals, stay small on the L83 stuff, very easy to overcam. Something in our stg1-3 lineup is more than enough for 99% of people!!
