Printers mentioned:
✿ Epson Artisan 1430 (amzn.to/3HsUam9): this printer handled lots of paper types well, and lasted a couple years. But when it died there was no solution available. It's a great starter printer.
✿ Canon Pixma Pro 100 (amzn.to/491hcwb): used daily for 2-3 years, before having to switch to the 200 because of supply issues. The Canons print MUCH slower than the Epson, approximately 1 min. per card.
✿ Canon Pixma Pro 200 (amzn.to/3tS3GM6): prints a little faster than the 100, but other than that they are pretty comparable printers. Ink was a lot easier to find with this printer.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR SHOWING THE SIZES IVE BEEN HITTING MY HEAD ON MY DESK FOR 24 HOURS LOL
You're welcome!! Let me know if you have any questions 😊
Just found your channel. This is the first video I’ve watched. Brilliant idea to cut the paper to size before printing. Thanks for sharing!
I know many people cut afterwards, but I found it annoying if I accidentally cut it wrong (then I wasted ink too!). Thanks for watching 😄
Aye I’m from Michigan!!! 😊😊😊
Thank you
you're welcome! ☺
Great info!! What card design program do you use to design and make your cards on?
I use a combination of Procreate, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I usually do all of my designing in Procreate then will sometimes use Illustrator to vectorize (or if it's a design I want to keep the texture, I won't do this). Then I use Photoshop for all of my templates!
Jordyn,
Thank you so much for this video. I have been going down rabbit holes on how there is NO printer out there that makes greeting cards look nice...and only commercial printers will do. UGH! But you have saved me. I do most of my calligraphy by hand, but if I had a laptop or ipad with a program that allowed me to create the same designs in a fraction of the time, and make several with ease....that would be the way to go. Do you have a recommendation for an ipad and program? I've been hearing about Procreate, but I know nothing more. And I have no clue about an ipad. I really appreciate your help. Thanks, and your cards are beautiful:)
Tracey
Thank you!! And I'm so glad you liked the video 😊 Yes to Procreate! It's amazing and I use it for everything drawing/lettering related! I love how Bardot Brush and Every Tuesday (here on CZcams) teach to beginners, so they are great places to start for Procreate tips. It can be overwhelming at first as there's so much to learn, but it's a pretty straightforward program, and great for lettering!
Thanks for the video, what are the links to the paper. The standard card stock
It's linked in the description but here's a direct link www.frenchpaper.com/collections/card-stock-cover 🙂
Hi. I just fin your channel and I subscribed. I like how you explain things. What is the m,maximum paper weight (cardstock thickness) you can print on the printer without damaging the rollers? Thank you!
thank you so much! each printer will be different, but I was able to print on 80lb cardstock without issue.
@@JordynAlisonDesigns tThank you for your answer. I am always concerned about the paper thickness because some of the printer makers may exaggerate their marketing. I love your videos because they are honest.
@@BlueLineofthesky it's hard to know, but I just always recommend testing multiple cardstocks out when you get a new printer! thank you for that 🙂
@@JordynAlisonDesigns true. I will try some next week. Thank you
What canon printer do u use? I like both cards
The links to all the printers mentioned are in the description 🙂 I've used 3 for cards: Epson Artisan, and Canon Pixma Pros. I start talking about the printers at 00:41
Thank you so much. You can share with me ruler you used. I want buy it but I not find yet link to buy
I linked everything in the description but if you're still not seeing what you need, can you let me know what ruler you're talking about? The scoring board is similar to this: amzn.to/3WstJlG and the paper trimmer is this: amzn.to/3Fyww7p (affiliate links)
Thank you so much!!
Can you please advise on page set up to print inside of a 6 x 6 inch folded greetings card.l can't get print centered on right hand side.
I would create a 6x12" guide and print that at 100% to make sure it's printing at the correct scale. If you can't print 12" long, then I would make a template for it on an 8.5 x 11" paper, keeping in mind that the left side would be slightly cut off in your template.
I choose landscape. Two columns. Choose size of borders. Centre text. Choose font/size and print. Trial and error. This is what I did. Hope it works for you.
how long did it take to get your website off the ground? I am weary because of illness so I stick with ebay. I love your tag in the
I'd say about a year of working at it full time!
Do you account for a bleed in your designs ? Or do you cut exactly at the measurement ?
If we bring the pdf to a ptinter, do they need to know if there is a bleed ?
Use of bleed is rather confusing IMHO.
If I was doing a full pattern/to the edge design I would print 1 card on the paper and yeah there would be a .25" bleed. I would set that up in Photoshop with guidelines.
Miss...please when making your greeting cards,is it a necessity to turn on crop marks.
It depends! For cards that don't have a full bleed (or color to the edge) you can put them side by side and cut down the middle like I showed in this video. But if you have a printer that can't print to the edge and you need to put one card on one piece of paper, crop marks would be helpful!
@@JordynAlisonDesigns Tnks so much ❤
Please help, I'm confused. I googled to see what the dimensions are on a A2 and it says it's a poster size 16.5 x 23.4". What am I not getting? (You may have explained it but I must have missed it). Thank you for your time!
A2 greeting cards are 4.25 x 5.5", so when you do two on one page it equals 8.5 x 11"
@@JordynAlisonDesigns Thank you so much, I thought I heard you right in regards to the dimensions and being able to have two on one page. I just don't understand why google gave me totally different dimensions than yours but oh well, I will start making A2 sizes from now on, make sense though. :)
@@mzzbevcreates art prints/frame sizes can be different. If you google "A2 card size" you'll see the right dimensions!
@@JordynAlisonDesigns ahhhh, thank you so much. You’ve been so patient with me. :)
@@mzzbevcreates you're welcome!! I'm always happy to answer any questions :)
Re you get the scorer from
Products used are always linked in the description 🙂The exact one I'm using I didn't link because for whatever reason it's super expensive now. So I linked a comparable one: amzn.to/3WstJlG
where is the information about the paper?
it was a great video
Everything is always linked in the description but I've pinned a comment now too 🙂 The paper is from French Paper. I recommend getting one of their sampler bundles and testing out colors and weights of paper that way. I believe I used the 80lb or 100lb cover weight cardstock. They also have envelopes, so getting the paper samples will help you pick colors for envelopes!
@@JordynAlisonDesigns Thank you, yes. I read the description but I only saw about the printer and the chapter information. maybe my youtube is set up weird, thank you for answering me!
Interesting about the sizing, I’m in Australia & just assumed the 5x7 was standard worldwide 😂
5x7 is common for big box stores like Target, but for small businesses and smaller brick and mortar stores, A2 (4.25x5.5) is more common because you can fit more cards in one space!
@@JordynAlisonDesigns that would be why then! 😂 so markets would more likely to have A2 sizes?
@@lildee_w6254 Yep, I'd say so!
I have an hp printer because I love instant ink.
definitely a perk!
