TRIP REPORT | First Time in Aer Lingus A330-300 | Malaga to Dublin

- My first flight onboard the huge Airbus A330-300 operated by Aer Lingus, on its regular route from Malaga to Dublin. Such a flight like this (less than 1.900 km) flown on an A330 is incredibly comfortable. The route is regularly operated by his aircraft daily, at least during the summer season.
After a fast boarding in Malaga (taking into account that the flight was almost full), we took off towards the Mediterranean sea, allowing us to have some amazing views of the city and surrounding beaches.
Just a few miles into the sea, we turned right, more than 180º, to proceed back to the field (as established in the standard instrumental departure) and start our flight plan to Dublin.
Our flight took us to cross all Spain, from the south to the north, and the Cantabrian sea. The last city in the Iberian Peninsula that we flew over was Bilbao, in the top north. After that, we flew a little bit over the Brest area (France) before turning left towards the Bristol channel, already starting the descent to Dublin.
After a crosswind landing in Dublin and a long taxi, we disembarked by jetway to the terminal. From there, we were able to see some of the most amazing views of the apron. The thumbnail picture, for example, was taken at that time. I hope I was able to show in the video how amazing this flight was.

Wow that was a steep takeoff probably down to it being a very light aircraft compared to the long haul routes it's used to. Great vid
For this flight, the fuel tanks where probably something around 25-30% of its maximum capacity, so yep, that's why we had so step initial climb, but later I would say it was almost the standard, since that way we probably were saving fuel.

La verdad es que fue una suerte poder cambiar de asiento al otro lado del avión durante el vuelo. El avión iba lleno a revosar, pero por casualidad, el mismo asiento que tenía yo inicialmente (pero al otro lado del avión) estaba vacío, así que no dude en cambiarme. De ahí que tuviesemos esas bonitas vistas a nuestra llegada a Dublin :)

Igualmente, sí que es genial que cada vez más, las aerolíenas estén usando wide-bodies para rutas en las que la demanda es grande, aunque la ruta sea corta para ese tipo de avión.

Jajaja, lo sé. No obstante, yo lo veo como algo especial considerando que normalmente una ruta como esta se operaría con un A320 o una Boeing 737 . Además el espacio entre los asientos me parece insuperable 🤣

This flight was the 3rd of May. It's normal that you've seen an A330, since they operate ir to Malaga and Faro daily during the summer season! :D

Only landed in Malaga stayed in Fuengirola obviously visited Marbella whilst there Malaga beautiful also!! Love Aer Lingus never had a bad flight or experience with them!!

Bonito avión ,el trébol en el ala y lo bien cuidado y colorido del avión ,pena de que Air Europa tengan el A330 en el que fuimos Rivera maya , creo que ya muy viejo),ya que ni tenía opción de ver ni películas y vista x donde se vería la ruta como este ,lo dicho precioso avión y bonitas vistas de la hermosa Irlanda!!👏👏👏👏
La verdad es que queda precioso el trebol en la punta del ala. Le da un toque muy especial.
Los A330 que Air Europa suele usar para viajes al Caribe suelen ser los más antiguos, pues son vuelos con un perfil de pasajero de turista, practicamente nulo en cuanto a pasaje de negocios, por lo que son pasajeros que quizás hacen esa ruta una vez cada 2 años, y la fidelización no es tan importante. (Es un pensamiento mio, opinion propia jaja).
No obstante, cada vez están recibiendo más Boeing 787 y retirando Airbus A330, por lo ue poco tiempo le quedan a esas rutas sin ser operadas con los B787 de última generación :)
@@OnBoardHD si ,están viejitos en cuestión de entendimiento y la verdad es que se hace muyyyyyy pesado el vuelo así ,yo creo también en mi humilde opinión que en estos destinos no muchos pasajeros son viajes de negocios ,pero yo personalmente conozco muchos amigos que hacen está ruta lo mínimo una vez al año ,los hay que van de 2 ,3 veces por qué les encanta el lugar ,pero eso sí ,en otras líneas aéreas qu tienen estas mismas rutas qu Iberia y Air Europa ,una pena que sea así ,pero ya deberían de retirarse o modernizarlo ,además de pesado entre 10h,incluso 11qu tardamos nosotros ,los pasajeros ya estaban irritables ,aburridos cansados ,el ambiente en el avión se notaba ya con las horas con mal ambiente ,los niños los pobre y padres 🤦.....bueno para mí y muchos que creo que están de acuerdo llegas estresado al destinó y a la vuelta lo mismo 😥yo creo qu la gente Española qu les guste este destino viajarían más al Caribe (es mi idea y opinión), que yo no descarto de volver otra vez , segurísimo,pero si no cambian de aviones mejores ,sera en otras compañías ,es una pena ,pero es así , quién pierde más en estos casos ?pongamos qu en estos vuelos estén entre los casi 300pasajeros , qué entre estos solo sean 10 de negocios ,bueno ellos sabrán ,lo dicho el avión es precioso me encantaría volar en el así ,te aplaudo x este vídeo espléndido con esas vistas hermosas de Irlanda, Saludos 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Aer Lingus normally use the A330 for transatlantic routes so they have business class at the front. The Dublin-Malaga route is economy class only and when you are booking your flight you have the option to reserve a seat and yeah you can choose a business class seat on the Dublin-Malaga route for 75 euro even though you're buying an economy ticket.
Yep, that's absolutely correct.
Unfortunately, when I was booking the flight, all business seats next to the windows were already booked. Hopefully, next time I will be able to show how those seats are in one video :)

La livrea de Aer Lingus es una de las que mas me gustan..otras de la lista ya han desaparecido junto a sus compañías. En cuanto al A330 es precioso, me gusta mucho más que el A340 (siempre amaré a mi Boeing 747, este no tendrá nunca sustituto). Gracias
Pues habrá que disfrutar de esta verde librea lo poco que le queda, pues ya están cambiándola por una nueva, sin tanto verde, pero que está bastante bien.

No en el servicio de bar concretamente, pero sí, los venden a bordo del avión. Cuando pasen vendiendo productos de duttyfree, después del servicio bar, ahí es cuando puedes comprarlo.
De todos modos, pouedes decirselo a la tripulación que lo quieres comprar cuando pasen con el bar, y así estarán más atentos cuando pasen más adelante con el.

Right now I'm extremely busy with other stuff that had much more priority than the channel, so I can't edit more. For now, I have 12 videos uploaded, so there are scheduled for every Saturday till September. But no worries, in August we'll go back to the 2 videos per week schedule. :)

Yo en Rampa subía para atender los A330-300 de la desaparecida LTU que tenían la disposición de los asientos 4+3+4 min 3:53 G-LSAE este B757-200 es muy asiduo en Lanzarote de Jet2com Holidays este tuvo una avería de arranque de motor en el cual durmió un día entero en Lanzarote por suerte tenían uno de reserva ya que era temporada de invierno aparcado en ACE y con ese se llevaron a los pasajeros de vuelta a Inglaterra, marcho este avión de reserva con el pasaje reubicado con un retraso de 2 horas sobre el horario de salida, durmió el Sábado por la tarde y Domingo el Lunes muy de mañana se marcho con pasajeros y equipaje en un nuevo vuelo asignado
Los A330-300 a mi gusto son amplios, cómodos y bastante silenciosos, los A330 y el B777 junto con las nuevas normativas ETOPS a partir de finales de los 90 fueron los culpables de hacer desaparecer los clasicos L1011 Tristar, MD-11 y el DC-10 en el buen sentido de la palabra
Tenía entendido que lo máximo para los A330 es 2-4-2. 4-3-4 me parece imposible en cualquier avión actual.

@@OnBoardHD LTU encargo sus A330-300 en el año 1995 con la disposición 4+3+4 por el tema de los vuelos a Canarias y a destinos turísticos, cuando los trajo dio de baja sus 6 L1011 Tristar, los 4 aparatos (A330) estuvieron en servicio hasta que la empresa fue absorbida por Air Berlin, después de ello se les cambio la disposición de las butacas a 2+4+2 y tras la quiebra de Air Berlin fueron vendidos a otras compañías
He buscado fotos de cabinas de LTU y todos tienen disposición 2-4-2. Poner 4-3-4 en un A330 es fisicamente imposible.
De hecho, de ser posible, sería el avión usado por las low cost para cruzar el Atlántico... pues llevaría muchísimos más pasajeros.
Repito 4-3-4 en un A330 es físicamente imposible.
@@OnBoardHD Es posible que me halla confundido con otro aparato como el MD-11 que tuvo LTU, pude ver las cabinas de los tres modelos el MD-11, el Tristar y el A330, en cada una se ve como han evolucionado los sistemas y aviónica, el A330 todo pantallas y apenas botones y los famosos Sidelick en el MD-11 pantallas de cristal líquido y los famosos cuernos y en el Tristar los cuernos, todo el tablero lleno de botones, luces y relojes con la mesa de ingeniero mecánico de vuelo, que en A330 y en el MD-11 ya no se llevaba

I love that Aer Lingus livery. Hey, do you have a review of Scandinavian Airlines Newark KEWR to Stockholm ARN A330-343 and A350-900 route? Sweden is my native country and we are traveling there this summer from Newark Liberty most likely on the A350-900 (their latest and greatest). Obviously, I can't wait.
No, for now I don't have almost any long-haul trip reports... it was planned to start with them in 2020... but the pandemic made it impossible. Let's see if in late 2021 I manage to make some...

Pues sí. La verdad es que hay unas cuantas aerolíneas con las que quiero volar en cuando tenga algo de tiempo libre (a partir de Agosto) entre las que se encuentras: Air Baltic, LOT, Turkish Airlines, Jet2, Thomas Cook, Condor... que ganas de hacer esos vídeos!! :D

Una curiosidad que tengo : el piloto y copiloto con los que volastes eran los mismos que venían de Dublín ?? Con qué frecuencia vuelan estos pilotos que hacen vuelos entre ciudades europeas ? 2 vuelos al día .... vuelan 3 o 4 dìas a la semana ??

Sí, en vuelos cortos como éste los pilotos hacen la ida y la vuelta.
Las programaciones de días de trabajo y descanso de las tripulaciones varía en función de la aerolínea. Pero son habituales desde 4 días de trabajo 2 de descanso, hasta 5 de trabajo y 4 de descanso, y vuelta a empezar.

Well, before the pandemic there 3 daily flights with Aer Lingus on the Dublin-Malaga route, and the first of the day was always operated by the A330 :)

This plane has Business and Economy class. Aer Lingus doesnt have First class. Just a few airlines have First class in Europe.

An airbus a330 is far too big for this route. I don’t see the point in using an a330. It’s just unnecessary when an a320/321 would be able to do just fine.
Well, this route hs a huge demand from Dublin. During the summer season they operate 3 daily flights (1 with A333 and 2 with A320/1). So there is enough demand for it! 😊✈
