- Marty's fifth appearance. An earlier upload included a segment from SNL (synchronized swimming with Marty and Harry Shearer). NBC Universal blocked it due to copyright restriction, so this revised upload omits that portion of the video.
I love Martin Short. He's so freakishly talented and funny.
they're so funny together.
Once asked if Martin was Jewish, he said, "Well I'm 10% Jewish on my agent's side"
🦁🐯
Martin Short saved it brilliantly with that second spit take!
Being such a good sport was apparently one reason he had dozens of appearances on the David Letterman show over the following decades.
All of his appearances are included in my multi-part SCTV cast members on Dave compilation.
It's weird to see the guest on the other side.
Reminds me of all those uploaders who reverse the image to trick the copyright.
This is from the later time slot, the golden age of Dave. Wow! Funniest line, from Paul Shaffer: "Marty, are you involving me in this just to annoy your agent?"
"Uncle Tonoose is coming for three weeks!?!"
LOL!
Incredible Retro Video
Wow this aired on my 10th birthday. Oddly ,my haircut and Marty's were similar then, although we traveled in different circles, and had not in fact, even ever met.
Martin heard Dave get a bigger reaction and the clown in him said "oh yeah?"
I was 3 months old when this aired.
Don Giller: I don't get Martin Short's "Well I met Ron Leibman and that was fine"--joke. I suppose because he was mostly a character actor and not a huge "star" that it made Short not get anxious? Just curious whether there was some inside about that reference...
Don’t know offhand.
The best guest
Ron Leibman LOL

5:02.... Part of Jiminy Click's character.
Fine, I'll bring it up. WHAT HAPPENED BEHIND THE SCENES?? Why the animosity with Paul? Did Paul and Martin get into a fight before the show? Fascinating. And awesome of course
Paul and Martin have known each other and have been close friends since 1972, when both were in the Toronto stage production of “Godspell,” Martin as one of the actors and Paul as the music director. Any “feud” they air out in public is their own little gag.
@@dongiller First, thank you for the videos. Ok, that makes sense. They're just foolin' around. Best Regards
Uncle Tonoose, Danny Thomas, and a triple spit-take demo
stupid pet tricks.....love 'em
what was the story behind the chairs being on the other side?
Just an experiment that lasted for only a few shows.
Their European phase
Wow, no roughriders or bette davis material 😮😀
Damn. Late night shows are at least this old.
This was actually fun to watch even though I don't know Martin.
It’s 09/10/2019 and I miss this. All political now
It's now 5 months later, and it's only gotten worse. Late night TV has become unwatchable. It's a shame.
