The moment the tree decided to kill the chicken was so hilarious. But I think the chicken deserved it because it disrespected the tree by standing above it assuming that it will not be able to grow while there is weight above it. The moral lesson is don't ever underestimate a tree sapling.

Man, I WAS NOT expecting this!I've been re-watching the one-block Skyblock series again recently, and the fun continues! Hope this series lasts long.
I am so glad to see you playing Skyblock again. You've given MANY ideas that I use in my own Minecraft playthrough.
I don't know how Gem does it... I've been watching her since she had around 500k subscribers and being a new university student, I've had to really focus on everything but myself for a solid four months now. Seeing this video's notification made me stop, breath and take a nice break for once :) I'm making a new rule for myself to stop what I'm doing whenever an episode of this series comes out to make time for myself

Here's a pretty good strategy: Since you have access to iron, make a hopper and a chest, go under the one block, and hook it up so that the drops always go in the chest. Then, you can collect EVERYTHING without worrying about despawning, falling gravel, and such (until the chest fills, but worry about that later and just pick up your supplies periodically).
It's a good idea but it would have to be a hopper minecart since hoppers can't pick up items through full blocks. If you're willing to spend that much iron it's helpful. Though you might want to save it for armor and tools earlier on.
@@halearomero493 I watched someone else use just a hopper and it collected all the stuff. Perhaps the items fall through the block after it's mined and get collected in that SPLIT-second that there's no block there. Granted, it WAS an older version of Minecraft, so perhaps that has changed? *shrug*
And yeah, tools/armor would probably be good early on, but automatic block collection is definitely a good idea at SOME point.

Tip: With 1 coal (+3 sticks and 3 logs), you can make a campfire! Not only is it a great building block and light source, you can also cook 4 food items with it at the same time, and the fuel never runs out! Campfires are probably the best early game furnace/smoker if you don’t have a lot of resources!
...even though you do have basically an infinite food source via the mooshrooms and mushroom soup and a furnace AND trees for infinite fuel... but still something to consider!..

Completely agree, I've seen other Oneblock players miss the value of those initial two sheep and not get more, then have no bed.

Loved this episode! You said something about having different shapes right? What about making layers going up. Like a crescent shaped island with multiple layers for growing trees? Or having two main Squares and the top for chests and the bottoms for the fortress? A water elevator could be a cool way to transport as well!

Super cool to see this as I wasn't around for the original one block series, I do have a recommendation though, if you place slabs on the lower half of a block they can't spawn mobs, so it will be a bit safer and less consuming for torches

* Place the crafting bench flush with the ground floor (so you have a bigger platform)
* Place farmland flush with the ground floor (so you have a bigger platform)
* Place the tree block flush the ground floor (so you have a bigger platform)
* Place half slabs on the bottom half to prevent mobs spawning

Anyway I was thinking of maybe, if you could get a dispenser with water in it as a sort of creeper disarmer or, a sticky piston with a lever extended, one block below the spawn block so when you flick the lever, the mob or items in that block will fall into the void
The laughter when the oak tree murdered that chicken… Priceless
