The Grassi Guitar does not require a megaphone. It is just a prop to draw attention to who is making the sound. I heard it done live and it was EPIC.

That's Avi Kaplan. His range extends from the Basso profundo at A1 to the middle/upper reaches of tenor. He's a trained operatic bass. I am a bass/baritone, and I can manage 3 and a half octaves. But he manages 5 to 5 and a half. They all sport ranges of at least 5 octaves. That includes the beatboxer whose voice runs throughout the tenors and also has an incredible falsetto that he can maintain indefinitely. Scott, the tall blond is their baritone, and he covers the bass line when Avi does lead. Scott goes from bass throughout the the tenors. Kirsten is their mezzo-soprano. She's capable of alto through soprano and could probably hit coloratura soprano if she wanted to. That leaves Mitch. He's the one doing the Freddie Mercury impression and the electric guitar. Side note: that megaphone was a prop. Mitch didn't need it. For the record, Kevin, the beatboxer was a full drum kit, Avi was the bass guitar, and Scott and Kirsten were giving us a sort of bells effect simulating a synthesizer. Then there was Mitch with the electric guitar. That look on your faces is what we refer to as being Mitch-slapped.
When Brian May watched this performance he was amazed at the way that Mitch Grassi covered his guitar solo (with wah-wah).
This is from their 2017 PTX vol 4 "Classics" EP. Which also included "Imagine", "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", "Over the Rainbow", "Take on Me", "Can't Help Falling in Love" and "Jolene"
Three of them have extensive acting experience from when they we're children. They don't just sing, they perform.
The mega phone is just a prop. During live performances he doesn’t use it.

Talent....pure talent. Speaking of acting; they have appeared on the TV series Bones, as well as being the Canadian team in Pitch Perfect 2 lol. The ability to convey emotion through vocals is what separates good from GREAT!
You guys might want to check out Kevin Olusola (beat boxer) on a solo thing he did. The song is called "Down". He's a great singer and a classically trained cello player. It will blow your mind!
If you like a capella and bass singers.... Avi is up there with the best. When he left PTX his replacement (Matt) is right up there too. But if you like bass drops check out Avi being featured in a Home Free video for Johnny Cash's 'Ring of Fire' and you'll have a nice surprise from their bass Tim Foust. Last but CERTAINLY not least would Geoff Castalucci of VoicePlay. VoicePlay is largely known as 'the theater kids' of a capella Check out some of their medley's and when you think you have a good feel for them. Check out their 'Oogie Boogie Song' from Nightmare before Christmas.
The best part of this is Mitch and Kevin. First, the bullhorn's a prop. He does the guitar live, and it's impeccable. Second, Kevin owns the percussion so perfectly, you can't tell it's a voice doing it. Absolutely makes the song.

The bass in this video is Avi Kaplan. He has one of the rarest voices you will hear . His range is wide but the best part is that his tone is rich and steady throughout. He has since left the group and has his own solo career. One of my all time favorite singer/songwriters.

👉👉Yes Avi's (bass singer) speaking voice is VERY LOW! He is not only known as a bass singer but a "basso profundo" (lowest bass).
All these BEAUTIFUL members of PTX are versitle vocally.
Scott (tall blonde) is a baritone that can go very low bass, he covers bass when the bass singer Avi or Matt have a singing lead. Scott also hits high falsettos!. Kirstie is a mezzo soprano/alto. Kevin (beatboxer) has a beautiful tenor singing voice and can hit VERY low percussion beatbox sounds. Their "acting" is always on point depending on the song!

Mitch (most of the solo part) is a tenor. Scott (tall blonde man) is the baritone of the group but he covers the bass part when the bass has the solo. Avi is the original bass he amicably left the group in 2017 and helped find his replacement Matt. Kirstin (the only woman) is the mezzo soprano of the group. Kevin ( the black man) is the beat boxer, a tenor and cellist.

I'm not one to be negative or anything or never one to want to be negative, but to be true, who is this asian dude? He seems to be such a different vibe from the first Pentatonix videos I've seen y'all react to. Not a match at all.
