  • Another visit to the big Lochs of the Highlands of Scotland including a first visit to one of the biggest. The Highlands at their best in full glorious Technicolor went some way towards making up for the less than productive fishing.
The good news we have another visit to look forward to in a few weeks time.

Nice film that! Hopefully you'll get a pike there next time. I grew up sea fishing on the north east coast of Scotland and always fancied trying the fresh water but always thought there was too much red tape involved in it. Fishing for snakehead in Thailand got me interested in our own native pike and finally last month I got my first jack pike followed by a not bad sized pike. Broke my foot about a week after it so now sitting in the house with a cast on my foot watching fishing vids. Tight lines!

I just found your channel, and man am I jealous.
My biggest is 34lb 4oz that was 48inches long.
I've put lots over 25 lbs on the beach, and what you're doing is absolutely my favorite thing to do..
You are very blessed to be able to do it, and thanks for sharing your sessions with the rest of us.
All my big fish were caught in the Coeur D' Alene, Idaho area, in America.... in case you are wondering, lol.
Good luck, and I'll be watching.

Where the eagle is overlooking the dam, I worked there when the dam was being constructed, I also worked on the wind farm when it was constructed, I spent two separate winters up there, 10m+ deep snow drifts, we’re you able to drive up there or did you walk all the way, 14km I believe, the big water!, you might even catch a proper monster there

We walked up and to be honest I think I bit off more than I could chew!! Must be spectacular in the snow 😂😂

We used to drive up there from the bottom gate, but yes, very spectacular in the winter, thi k there is a memorial up there for someone who died on the dam construction, can't remember if it was the eagle or another

Not a great fan of umbrellas Peter at the best of times. A lot of my Piking involves long walks, umbrellas are too heavy, I normally rely on a a simple ex-MOD tarp which is a fraction of the weight. 👍

That big water you were on…..I contacted the tackle shop regarding the need for a permit and was told there was no pike there because it was too cold…..( so the swedes must be wasting their time ice fishing then). They are protecting it for the river salmon that travel up two rivers from there.
There is pike there, I was speaking to an Englishman that had two dead baits in from a lay-by. The bailiff and a policeman blocked his car in and told him there was no pike there. He says that’s strange because I just caught one and he showed them a photograph. The loch is free to fish from the bank for brown trout and course fish, with the landowners permission.

Like I said in the vid, a well managed water, that was why I was so grateful to the estate keeper who gave me permission which has to be in writing by the way. Thank you for taking the time to comment ❤❤

Too cold our lochs in scotland are glacial and deep or at least the vast majority are even in the warmest summer temps the water below the surface will only be 2 to 4 degrees celcius and the biggest and deepest therfore coldest all contain pike

Hello Bruce. I enjoy watching your videos, particularly when I can't get piking myself! Have you ever fished for pike in Ireland?

If you don’t mind me asking what make/size of reels do you use for pike fishing?

So pleased that you like what I'm doing. For the lakes and lochs I'm using Okuma INC 6000's loaded with 15lb low stretch mono. For the rivers it's old faithful 6000 size Shimano Baitrunners with 65lb braid. Hope this helps 👍👍

Sorry Richard, I have a rule not to name waters as it is unfair on other anglers that fish the waters. I'm sure that you will understand that.😉😉

@@amomentintimechannel1315 it's the best policy for sure.
I'm fishing a well known river and 2 CZcams's also fish this location.
One lad gets really quality pike but doesn't name the venue.
The other CZcamsr names the venue and some locals I have spoken with while on the bank are threatening violence towards him.
They really don't appreciate him bringing unwanted attention to the venue.
