Esox Diaries | S2 Episode 4 | When winter PIKE FISHING doesn't go to plan | Pike fishing Scotland

  • Filmed over 3 sessions spanning the holiday period, episode 4 of Esox Diaries documents one of the toughest periods of Pike angling that we've experienced in years.
Changeable conditions and demoralisingly slow fishing has made it hard to maintain any amount of confidence or indeed, motivation.
However, any true angler will understand that periods like this, no matter how difficult, are all part and parcel of fishing, and the journey to any memorable catch often entails many ups and downs.
Perseverance and determination are needed in bucket loads, but will these essential angling attributes eventually be rewarded?
    Only time will tell .

What a beautiful place just being there would be enough for me the back drops and the wild life you show us is amazing you also win more days than you lose on to the next one both 🎣👊💯

I find it interesting that in Europe the weight of the Pike seems to have more significance than the length....here in Canada we usually only talk about the length of the Pike we catch!
    Great vid by the way!

Typical scottish weather 🙄, a caught my PB 27 pound pike out loch Lomond, dead baiting from the bnk in heavy heavy rain, late October, tight lines always 🎣 🐠 👍

I feel your pain, gents. I've had 3 or 4 blanks in a row for the pike, and before that, all small jacks. I have not had decent fish now since the end of October, even though that was only 9lb 😂 tough going like and agree with alex can totally demotivate you big time

Tough sessions boys , but as you well know, that's just how pike fishing can be sometimes, a bit of a grind! That said, your latest offering was once again beautifully filmed and produced - thanks very much!

Grind it out, only way. Put the time in and it'll come good, usually with a bang. Stick to what you know, and where you know. If you'd been sitting in the house, you'd be wondering what you missed. Smashing video as always.

Lads, personally, I have a pain in me tits blankin at this stage... haven't had such a bad season in 10 years (I know its early into it yet 🤞)... my blank streak is around 17 CONSECUTIVE since mid November... its got me questioning my venues, my bait selections, my rigs, my .... sanity !!! 🙄😂
The weathers been all over the place, cold, warm, windy , calm, sunny, cloudy, stormy !!...at times all in the one week..🤡 😕
All we can do is keep going out, keep fishing our best...
I'm starting to look upon my trips as camping trips with the fishin thrown in !! 😅

      @angling360  Před 6 měsíci +2

      I've 12 n 11ft, for deadbaiting, and a 10ft lure rod, which I hate, I prefer a shorter 7ft lure rod.

I have 13 foot 3 1/2 test curve rods for bigger venues.
12 foot for average size but to be honest I don't take them out anymore.
For rivers canals and drains it has to be my 10 foot rods so much better when you want to move swims.

@@angling360 understandable. You do get bams disrespecting the environment and taking advantage. I play a golf match against the agriculture & fisheries !!! Poaching is down but mass method fishing is on the rise And they are fearful of stocks in rivers more than private owned lochs. But still open fresh water is the primary focus for control. Frightening what people will resort to !!!

I was down whitadder river nmpyhing at the famous Ford !! noticed to stinger rig and hick rig fixed to the bank Very naughty. It’s a massively policed water and still the rats get away with abusing such a great area.
