  • Sanne Wevers believes that sports at the highest level are solely about competition and rigor, about being at your very best at that one moment when it counts. You need to be ready, not only psychically, but mentally and spiritually as well. In her talk, Sanne will invite you to re-envision how you mentally prepare for all your defining moments by sharing how she prepared for her big Olympic moment. Sanne Wevers is a Dutch artistic gymnast. She is a two-time Olympian, having competed in 2016 Rio de Janeiro and 2020 Tokyo. Sanne is the 2016 Olympic champion on the balance beam and was the first Dutch female gymnast to become an individual Olympic champion. She is known for her daring and difficult spins on the balance beam. She and her sister were both on the 2016 and 2020 Olympic teams. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Her balance beam routine was truly magical! Sanne's form, execution, and artistry took center stage!

Sanne’s beam gold was the highlight of the Rio Olympics. Her beautiful, innovative, and totally original routine transcended the broken code of points and made real magic that I still go back and watch! She and only a few others kept the “art” in artistic gymnastics.

Love how she brings elegance and artistry back to the beam. The fact that she has the courage to take the risk and do an acro mount in the olympics instead of just hopping on the beam to reduce risk speaks volumes. Her elegant turns stood out amongst those that insisted on the unappealing triple wolf turn. Love how Catalina inspired her since she also was a beam queen in 2004. Looking forward to seeing you win in Paris 2024.🏅 (Was sort of expecting her to do her gainer dismount at the end of her talk. That would've been amazing. 😅)

Came across this as I was looking for footage of an interview from her at 2023 euros... I didn't even know she had a Ted talk!

I can't believe she talked about Simone Biles like that. She didn't mention her name and spoke unfavorably about Biles. As a long-time viewer of WAG, I am very disappointed with Sanne's attitude and perception of Simone. It looks like poor sportsmanship to me.

What exactly did she say that was offensive to Biles? It's true with the scoring system Biles could fall and still win because of the points for difficulty if that was what you're referring to. I've seen Biles toxic fans leave bitter and hateful messages to Sanne just for beating Biles in the Olympics.
