- Warrior (2011)
The youngest son of an alcoholic former boxer returns home, where he's trained by his father for competition in a mixed martial arts tournament - a path that puts the fighter on a collision course with his estranged, older brother.
Starring Tom Hardy, Nick Nolte, Joel Edgerton, Frank Grillo, Bryan Callen, Sam Sheridan, Fernando Chien, Kurt Angle,
Directed by Gavin O'Connor
This set a massive bar as my first fighting film! I will eventually react to Rocky but what are some other great films that feature mixed martial arts or boxing?

Your edit was really really good. Once again I’m a crying mess watching this. Incredibly emotional. Wish more people would react to this film. Great edit.
sorry you had to deal with that crap. Loved the reaction great editing
"The Drop " with Tom Hardy is a under rated Gem.
I promise as soon as I get a job again. Going through stuff. I had dinner with Joel Edgerton’s Dad because of a mandatory law license event. There were like 5 of us at the table and the guy got peppered. Total gentlemen. I wrote an essay about this movie on Medium. It is a top 5 for me.
"Legend"is another good tom hardy movie that isn't well known I recommend it,not as good as this movie but it shows toms ability to act very well👍🏾btw love the reaction Nd this movie hits hard I love it nick Nolte is amazing in this movie
Even the manliest man cried watching this movie.
Fact.
A machine would some how discover the ability to cry because of this movie.
When that music kicks in at the end, me and my brother were both sniffling.
Nick Nolte killed it with the drunk scene. That is the most spot on interpretation of a drunk older man I have ever seen on film. Exactly how my pop was when we were kids.
Damn, I'm sorry you had to see that. I have a friend who dealt with the same thing. The way she talked about it, having to care for him and what not, was in such a nonchalant way that it made me think she really did not want to think about how bad the situation was. I only listened, but it really felt like she was holding back such emotion when I was looking into her eyes.
Isn't it because Nick had a lot of alcohol problems?
They supported him because they don't see him as a traitor who left out of cowardice. He left because he felt betrayed. Falling under friendly fire.
One of the most underrated movies there is. From the outside it may just look like a mma movie, but the fighting is just the vehicle to move along one of the most compelling stories of forgiveness I've ever seen. Also Nick Nolte's relapse scene where he's screaming at captain ahab to turn the boat around is world class.
You are not a cry baby those 3 emotional scenes are VERY hard not to cry to they are designed so well especially with the music.
Nolte was rightfully nominated for an Oscar for his role
Tom Hardy won three BJJ tournaments in a month. There are some actors you just know not to mess with irl and he is definitely one of them
You know shia Labeouf beat his ass apparently on the set of lawless. And in an interview tom said shia would absolutely beat him in a fight lol. Not saying tom isn't tough but just an interesting point to add.
@@zeeksy6276 i checked that was just a fake rumor Hardy spread . They just grappled nude on set of lawless
@@zeeksy6276 Yep- Appearances can be deceiving
@@ulisesmontoya9366 sure can
@@zeeksy6276 Tom was sloshed on set 😂 but he said in an interview he's good at playing tough guy roles cause he just acts like the kinda people he's intimidated by.
1st, Warrior is one of my all time favorite movies. The ending scene never fails to make me cry. I truly enjoyed your reaction - you are genuine, you're not performative, and you let the important moments breathe.... I subscribed right afterwards 👍
Thank you! 😊
Nick Nolte and everyone else really packed a punch with their performances on this one.
Nick Nolte played the shit out of that role, but yeah agreed. The entire cast was great.
Not enough people react to this movie. It's amazing!!!
The man you keep on pointing out to be beautiful. He was an actual UFC fighter. His name is Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson, he sadly passed away in 2022, he was truly loved by the fighter community.
Rumble was a true gentlemen.
One of my favourite ever fighters. Loved the respectful and even gentle side he showed right up till the cage door closed and then "Rumble" showed up. Gone far too early 😢
@@lethalsnake666 I’m sure the women who experienced the myriad of domestic violence charges from him think he was a true gentleman…
@@chadd3299shut up Chad u sour mutt
@@lethalsnake666a true gentlemen that beat the shit out of women and loved to grope his grandmas ass. Yeah, a true gentleman.
Simping for a dead man doesn’t make you a good person, it just makes you pathetic.
It's not just you, I never cry in movies but I've watched this movie so many times and teared up every time. Even teared up watching your video. It's a perfect movie
Crazy how many people are unaware about this movie. Perhaps maybe even Hardy's best work? I think it gets to people because everyone on this planet has gone through some sort of trauma. Its not some fairytale where everyone wins
Fun fact, Joel Edergton's (aussie actor playing Brendan) brother Nash is the director of Mr Inbetween.
The way Tommy recoils when he sees his father drunk you start to understand that his hostility towards his father isn't hate but fear. He turns into the same scared child he was when he left but as a grown man has found the courage to understand and appreciate the remorse and efforts Paddy has taken to be somewhat better.
Great reaction!!👍 I'm a 34 year old guy and i cry every time I watch this, it's an incredibly emotional movie.
I love this movie so much. Rewatched it so many times. Glad that you liked it. Nick Nolte killed it in this role with Tom. That scene in casino is sooo good.
The hotel room scene too 💔
The scene in the casino is terrible… well, the scene itself is good but what is happening is really sad.
The fun thing about the Russian fighter Koba is that he's actually played by Kurt Angle who is a former Collegic and American Olympic gold medalist amateur and professiinal wrestler (WWE) so seeing him as a kind of Russian 'final boss' was pretty funny to those who knew who he is.
This is my favourite movie. Top of my list of favourites. I'm a guy and this has me welling up every time.
The hotel room scene with Tom & nick is so heartbreaking 💔 Honeslty put Tom and joel fucking deliver titan levels of acting
It’s great watching an intelligent young lady react to movies like this
Tom Hardy is the best
One of the best movies I’ve ever watched and one of the only ones so far I’ve ever bought on a phone alone
I need everyone to react to this
I was lucky enough to see this in theaters. Badass flick for sure.
One of my favorite movies of all time. I am 38 and my mom had another son with a different man when I was 18. She lost him to CPS when I was 21 and he was 3 back in 2008 and I never saw him again and still don’t know where he is, as he got taken away 3 days before I left for basic training for the Army. Last time I saw my father was 8/18/2008. I punched him in the face 6 times and left for basic training the next day and haven’t seen him since. My mother has been sober for 11 years (2013) and we now have a a beautiful relationship, but I haven’t spoken to my father because he is literally the antichrist, and 16 years later I still haven’t found my half brother. I turned to jiu jitsu for an outlet and am heavily involved in that community so I love the MMA aspect along with the story. The movie admittedly resonates with me more so than it probably does most, and I can’t watch the final scene without crying every single time. I thought everyone did a tremendous job acting in it and I thought they did a terrific job mixing in the stories so it wasn’t just another fight movie. Wish more people reacted to this, it’s a great movie!
Edit: Tom Hardy is also a purple belt in jiu jitsu and competes fairly regularly and has won several competitions…and is one of the nicest humans imaginable.
Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you can reconnect with your brother one day 💙
Nick Nolte should've won the Oscar for best supporting actor...he was amazing in this.
I hate when people simply say, "This guy should've won" without having watched the other nominees. Christopher Plummer was amazing for "Beginners," and Nick Nolte was amazing too, but that's the thing with the Oscars: most of the time it's not going to be 100% objective because there's multiple actors that deserve the award; it isn't as simple as "He should've won.".
His relapse scene in the hotel room is a masterclass!
I see Warrior, I click :)
This movie hits waaaay close to home for me. I'm a middle child and my older brother is a Marine. My grandfather, father and brother are all previously or recovering alcoholics ... this movie gets me bawling every time by the end 🥺😢💔😭
Koba is played by WWE Superstar and Team USA Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle! 💪😎💪
The music is its own character in this 💔😭😭😭😭😭😭💗💘🥰
Edgerton acts, write and directs whats probably my favorite movie ever: The Gift (2015)!
Edgerton, Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall (Who is FANTASTIC in this!) are incresible :)
I'm a 53-year-old French man, and I love this movie. It hits close to home. I've watched it several times and each and every time I cry to those same scenes. The scene with Nick Nolte getting drunk in the hotel room is heart wrenching. He's such a great actor. And I can't hold back my tears when the music starts during that last fight.
Absolutely love this movie, such a great story.
Great reaction.
why the French always mention they are French ? Je ne comprends pas . we are from all nationalities, different backgrounds... anyway. glad to hear you are French
It’s always great seeing someone watch WARRIOR for the 1st time.
My favorite film ever.
I really like your reaction because you don’t try to do too much. Subscribed.
Also, having the full screen is way better than having a tiny little screen in the corner.
Joel Edgerton is an Aussie and actually had some martial arts background. Its one of the reasons that Tom's fight scenes where shorter. This movie is what got him into martial arts. This is suchan amazing movie. Love it so much.
It’s a great movie you cry baby 😅 ok I’m an ex fighter and I confess I shed a tear, or 3. A beautiful raw, brutal emotional roller coaster of a movie. Loved sharing it again with you 👍
I went into labour on April 15th 2012 watching this. I wouldn’t leave until the end tho 😂 still one of my fave films to this day
Hahahaha amazing 😅
Such an excellent friggin movie. One of the best fight dramas ever made.
This movie makes grown ass men cry like little babies. When the music sets in, in the end and brendan looks at his father through the cage it's so heavy.
And I cried again while editing lol. When Brandon comforts him and says "it's okay" and tells him he loves him 😭😭
I told Edgerton’s dad, I think my last words were, “I cry everytime… that last scene kills me.”
The actor that plays Brendan is Joel Edgerton, his brother Nash is the director for Mr Inbetween
no wayyy!!! Mr inbetween is a phenomenal and underrated show!! surprised i never knew that was his brother😂
@@WorldGram1 also... Ray's daughter in the show is Joel's niece/Nash's daughter.
The end put me in a hurt locker
This movie is so underrated, sad family drama with some fight scenes in between and it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster! Don’t lie everyone tears up in this movie! Nick Noltes best film
Great choice; impossible not to cry :-)
Also you might be surprised, but Joel Edgerton (Brandon) had significantly more mixed martial arts experience than Tom Hardy, which is one reason why they needed Tom Hardy's fights to be very short. They also had very limited time and money to shoot this movie, so lots of credit goes to its writer and director Gavin O'Connor, who played the rich guy putting up the prize money.
In the final fight, Tommy didn’t tap till he heard his brother say “I love you”. He didn’t need to hear “I’m sorry” or anything else. He needed to hear his brother say I love you and feel it.
Oh! almost forgot. Since you are on a Tom Hardy kick, don't forget LEGEND. He plays Twins! SOOOO GOOD! You won't regret it.
Yes! Keep hearing about about this one. Will definitely check it out
This was such an underrated movie. Great reaction!!!
I'm a dude and I do MMA. I'm also a huge film buff. I can confidently say that I've never cried as much with a film as I did with the ending of this film.
Man, once that song hits at the end…….. it’s over emotionally.
Great reaction.
"You don't knock him out, you lose the fight ... you don't knock him out, you don't have a home"
That gorgeous man you are referring to that was Joel Edgerton's character's first opponent was called Anthony "Rumble" Johnson, sadly he passed away on November 13 2022 from a rare auto-immune disease that he battled with for years, he was a true sportsman and gentleman of the UFC and challenged the UFC Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier twice before retiring. He was known for his exciting fighting style and terrifying knockout punching power and was a controversial fighter for regularly missing weight limits over 3 different weight classes.
the part with the casino where he throws the coins to him being drunk really is a scene that cuts me up too
the anger in his face and the way it shows tommy timid for the first time shows that little kid under the wrath of the father
that cuts me up and the ending
it has heart! and if you want another action film with heart. INVICIBLE with mark wahlberg
20:45 the guy u ask, "woah, who's that guy?" That Brendan was fighting. That's former UFC fighter Anthony Johnson. Sadly, he passed away 2yrs ago
Every dude with a brother cried at the end of this movie.
rip Rumble
I’m a 33 year old man and this movie makes me cry every time lol
Tom hardy is amazing in Lawless, based in the olden bootlegger days, along with Shia LeBeouf and Jason Clarke. Their synergy’s are amazing and the storytelling is beautiful
IDK if you know this or not, but Koba is played By Kurt Angle. Ex professional wrestler (WWE) and the man who won a gold medal for wrestling in the 1996 summer Olympics while suffering from a broken neck.
Also I hate to admit it, but I just realized that The dad most likely became an alcoholic to cope with PTSD, as the Movie never stats his age we can assume the character is near Nick Noltes' age, meaning The dad was the age to be drafted during the Vietnam war, He would've been 26-27.
Another good film with hardy id recommend legend. He played twin mobsters with two completely different personalities!
"Wow... who is that guy?" His name is Anthony Johnson and he was a real MMA fighter. Fought in the UFC and Bellator across 4 weight divisions.
Unfortunately he passed away in 2022 from organ failure due to an auto-immune disease and cancer.
Crying right alongside you. This is one I watch whenever it's on tv, from the start, from the middle, from near the end - doesn't matter. The Martian with Matt Damon is another one
lawless is one of his i have to recommend its quite literally a perfect movie imo
If you enjoy Tom Hardy you should check out "Lawless" if you haven't already seen it. It has Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf in it. It's another one of Tom Hardy's great performances and an overall really entertaining movie. I think most people would consider Lawless one of his biggest/most memorable roles.
I think we all cried, awesome movie. ❤
Definitely hit me in the feels this movie.
One of my favorite movies.
Joel Edgerton plays some great roles & his brother directs Mr In-between 👍🏾
Tom Hardy + Guy Ritchie = Rocknrolla
Girl, if you haven’t seen ‘Locke’, you’re missing awesomeness.
One of my favorite movies
Hey fun fact I’m a purple belt in jiu jitsu in a well known affiliation in England and I got to spar Tom hardy one day when he turned up to a training one day such a nice and down to earth guy couldn’t believe it
Amazing!!
love this movie
You're not a cry baby. Just about every guy I know who watched this film cried - seriously.
21:54 The man you said "My God that man is gorgeous" was ANTHONY "Rumble" JOHNSON. A great UFC fighter known to just about everyone who watched UFC. He unfortunately passed in 2022 after a long battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
So the brother opposite Tom Hardy is Joel Edgerton. A great Australian who played Uncle Lars (in Starwars, Luke Skywalker's uncle), the antagonist in The Great Gatsby , he's a stuntman and he and his brother make Aussie films. In fact you are watching a show his brother Nash Edgerton directed, Mr Inbetween. The Edgerton brothers are Australian legends that go under the radar but legendary none the less. ;)
Great choice of film 😊 a favorite . u keep impressing 😉😋
AWOL during wartime is definitely jail time and could possibly be a death sentence
Such a great film 👏 and as an Aussie it's cool to see Joel Edgerton in this one 🇦🇺
Koba is Kurt Angle, he is an Ex wwe wrestler but also a LEGIT Olympic Gold Medal Wrestler, Kevin nash also former WWE star (francis in John wick also lol)
Orlando who he fought before him was Anthony "rumble" Johnson who was a ufc fighter who actually passed away sadly :(
heaps of big names in this film, Rashad Evans, Stephan Bonnar, Roan Carneiro, Erik Apple, Yves Edwards all former/current UFC fighters
Maybe a bit long to watch, but Tom's portrayal of Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders seasons 2-5 is nothing short of brilliant. And can't talk up Legend enough either. Can't wait for Animal Kingdom reaction... Joel with Ben Mendelsohn, Jackie Weaver and Guy Pearce (who also stars with Tom in Lawless). Lastly, Dark Matter with Joel Edgerton and Jennifer Connolly has been an awesome series.
I believe Tom Hardy played Bane after this movie, which is what he was a beast fighting Batman. Wonderful reaction video 🥃🥃🥃
I remember going to see this at the cinema with my mate, we are both big men who worked the doors togeather and have boxed since we were kids. I was trying to be tough and holding back the tears when the dad relapsed (my dad was an alcoholic too) but noticed my friend had tears streaming down his face, by the end of the movie we were both crying away like a couple of babies 😂😂😂
I found this movie had a very special way of drawing us in. So powerful!
Tom hardy movie. The Drop it’s really good
I’m 26 now I watched it in the movies good movie crazy how how time flies by.
Chrissie Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
RIP Anthony Johnson 😔 Taken way too quick.
I love this movie, I'd suggest watching Star Trek Nemesis since Tom Hardy is in it. Also, I really like your tattoos.
The best fighting movie ever made
Brendan wanted it all-the family, the thrill of winning, the house, the parents, his brother, etc. The only sacrifice he seemingly made, was getting back to fighting, which he ultimately loved, and he did it against his wife's wishes.
Tommy suffered every step of the way for the sake of other people, without a thought of gaining for himself.
I think the scene where the latter tells his brother 'you're full of shit', sums it up pretty well.
Nick Nolte made my heart and soul bleed with his perfomance. The casino scene where Tom Hardy's character tells him to f off, he's not wanted, and you can literally see the man crumble before your eyes, and the following scene where Nick Nolte's character is blindly drunk, listening to a voice book of Moby Dick, begging and screaming at the captain (Ahab) to turn the ship and not pursue the whale ... and then the son stops him, gets him into bed and nestles him. It's just so beautiful.
I cry like a baby on that scene too 😂😂😂
I'm just here for the Mad Dog Grimes scenes.
This movie is absolutely phenomenal. Just suscribed to your channel. You are dope. 🥰🥋👍🏽
U cried, I cried and we all cried.
Fantastic reaction. Loved it so much. Don't ever apologize for being emotional. That's why I loved it so much.
The Drop would be a great Tom Hardy flick to look into. Based on a book by the same guy who wrote Gone Baby Gone and Mystic River. Plus, it’s great crime drama centering around Tom Hardy and a puppy. You can’t go wrong.
May i recommend one movie of TOM HARDY'S filmography that went under the radar. It's called LOCKE a 2014 movie where Hardy gives one of his best performances in my opinion
Lawless movie starring Tom Hardy
“Never judge a book by its cover.”
RIP Anthony Rumble Johnson
Fun fact, 3:49 was my High School and I attended it while this movie was filmed. They actually used a proper science classroom too.
Oh and it’s actually in a Pittsburgh suburb
Tom Hardy's movie LEGEND, which is based on a true story about London Gangsters twin brothers, famously known as the KRAY TWINS, is an absolute treat to watch, Tom's done loads of shades from being funny, to goofy, and absolutely eccentric,... Tom Hardy, chefs kiss,...
👩🍳 💋
Lawless is another good one 👍
Brenden's fighting style seems to be patterned after Sakuraba, the greatest submission specialist and p4p goat. Koba is basically Fedor the hw goat. Tommy is possibly a mix of Wanderlei Silva and Rampage Jackson.
If you're interested in the sport at all you should look up a Sakuraba tribute video. He was the most entertaining fighter ever, who constantly face opponents 20-60lbs heavier and was a threat to all of them.
Brenden is played by Joel Edgerton, he's in tons of great movies. Heck of an actor.
All of Tom’s performances are great! I want to recommend that you watch The Drop next, its something completely different from him and it really demonstrates his acting range
