The Gentlemen (2019) starring Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hannam, Hugh Grant, Colin Farrell, Tom Wu, Henry Golding, Michelle Dockery and Jeremy Strong
Directed by: Guy Ritchie
Hugh Grant's performance in this film is his absolute best in my opinion.
He was good in Paddington 2 too.
Such a great performance
Star of the film for me.
Hugh Grant is great in this movie no doubt, but for me Colin Farrell is the star of this. Just my preference though. Charlie Hunnam is great too. Fantastic movie
And it gives the finger to the smut press that has been so hard on him.
It's amazing
Guy Ritchie back at his absolute best. So many great characters, with amazing storytelling. His use of Hugh & Colin, absolutely tip top!
Snatch is another Guy Ritchie Masterpiece.
Rock and rolla
She mentions it at the end
As is Lock Stock ;)
I think the Sherlocks are Ritchie at his best too.
This is not a masterpiece😂 its his worst film by far 😂
When the lions hungry? HE EATS! - kickass line and delivered perfectly.
and "there's fuckery afoot!"
The quality of production of this movie just astounds me.
I noticed that too! It LOOKS so good.
Hugh Grant is a highly underrated actor, who has reinvented himself recently to prove how good his range is.
Thank you for not censoring the language.
Some days I feel a bit more mellow so you might notice I'm not talking as much in this one. I guess I got absorbed in the movie! Hopefully you don't mind a more quiet watch along with me 😊
You'd LOVE a film called Rock'n'Roller , It's a lot like this film , Also Public Enemies , It's a true story of a 1930s gangster played by Johnny Depp.
@@richardbeaton7324 Just was about to say the same thing. Very underappreciated.
you me both i enjoy a good movie , oyu do not hear me talk while watching as i am focused , great movie watched it so many times.
Reacting to a film doesn't mean talking incessantly throughout it. A lot of reactors can learn from you.
Too many think they have to "react".
@36:45 Writers - Guy Ritchie, Ivan Atkinson, Marn Davies.
I Thought Hugh Grant should of got an Oscar for that part
Grant should have got an Oscar for the Physical Comedy involved in that hedge jump........ just perfectly matches the character's traits.....
The Gentlemen is Guy Ritchie's homage to the excellent 1980 film, The Long Good Friday. Everyone should check it out.
The Long Good Friday is a masterpiece this is rubbish its his worst film literally the worst .
@@Tom-uv7ry Yet you purposely clicked on the thumbnail, scrolled through the comments and here you are in the comments section. If it was that bad, you wouldn't even want to be here.
Yup homage to Long Good Friday Matt McC copying Bob Hoskin's reaction when facing imminent death hijacked in back of cab
Great film. The Netflix series is also fairly good. Not if the same calibre but still an entertaining binge watch!
I'm digging the series. It doesn't have the comedic elements as much as this did, but it's pretty solid. I love the religious gangster and Giancarlo Esposito's character.
Hugh Grant was phenominal in this film he seriously owned that role.
It's hard to go wrong with Guy Ritchie.
Cant be said about his recent movies. But I agree with the statement pre 2020.
You can’t unsee it, can you?
No, that’s nightmare fuel.
The Mr. Hands quote really got me
30:04 I remember laughing non stop first time watching.
The girl who plays Laura really does look like her dad, doesn't she (Sting)
Probably my favourite movie of the past decade. Thank you for posting.
Oh I didn't even realise! But yeah, now that you mention it... it's cool Sting was in Lock Stock and here we come full circle 20 years later 😊
The final car ride is beautifully memorable of Bob Hoskins contemplating his inevitable end at the climax of The Long Good Friday. I thought this was Mr. Ritchie's best film so far. Mr Grant has never been better, and Coach is a mini highlight from Mr. Farrell. Top work all round.
He didn't change his accent that much, just made it grittier and more cockney
As opposed to?.. I mean you're literally describing what changing an accent entails.
Guy Ritchie versions of Sherlock Holmes? Steampunker.
For Phuq's sake!! 😂😂😂
Such a great film. Rock n rolla is another thats worth a watch too!
I've heard mixed reviews on that one. Some people warn me against it, others love it!
@@chrissiereacts It's a great film.
@@chrissiereacts I enjoyed it. It's his early work, so it's not as smooth as his later stuff, but it's still a winner.
Yeah def worth a watch, and brilliant cast too..
@@chrissiereactsWhoever warned you against it is bat shit crazy, that is one of Ritchie's best, with an incredible cast, and a killer storyline!!!!!!!
Hello there! Oh I love Guy Ritchie movies! Look at Hugh Grant was enormously good at this!
Very enjoyable reaction to an incredible movie. Thanks for the fun watch, lovely lady. 🤗
Loved the "Pulp - Common People" reference, so true.
Great reaction like alwaus Chrissie, love this movie, Guy Ritchie really is at home with this type of film. He's like a British Tarantino with his dialogue. He has a way of making every side character memorable. Among the star-studded cast of this film, Hugh Grant really stands out with his eccentric character and fun performance. Grant filmed his scenes in just five days with 40 pages of dialogue to cover. Grant had made a cheat sheet to help him learn all the lines, but the night before filming, his car was broken into and the cheat sheet was stolen. One of the more entertaining aspects of the film is the framing of Fletcher's movie pitch to Ray. Fletcher lays out the plot of the movie as if it is a movie he is writing himself. And a fun-fact at the end of the film, Fletcher is seen meeting with a movie executive and pitching the same movie. He presents the script which is title "Bush." That happens to be one of the working titles for this film. Also, behind Fletcher is a poster for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. which Ritchie also directed. Keep up with the good work.
5 days is wild! But I guess there aren't too many location changes for his character... but still, what a talent to be able to give such a heavy dialogue performance in such a short amount of time. And nail it!
Did the cheat sheets ever resurface? A jackpot for the thieves lol
I actually was super confused for the first half trying to figure out if this was a fictional story he was telling or real events 😂 If I ever release an uncut version you can witness the utter confusion haha
@@chrissiereacts unfortunately the cheat sheets never appeared, I love Guy Ritchie’s movies, you should watch more of they always have an amazing story telling, I recommend 'Snatch' and the 'Sherlock Holmes' 2 movies with Robert Downey Jr.
One of my favorite movies
I really enjoy your videos…your empathy is inspiring
The McDonald Farm "EI EI O" song on the Creative Expression Video is the BEST!
Great reaction. Just found your channel with this. Really appreciate the soda intro 😂
Thank you!! 😁
This film is great. The reaction is great.
Great film.
I discovered your channel by stumbling across Chopper… I wrote that I’d subbed and popped along to see another review.
I really love this excellent movie and that you enjoyed it as much as, I’m sure, all of us did.
What a great set of characters and captivating storyline.
Thanks for a fun reaction 😊
Thank you! I appreciate it 😊
Same thing man. Definitely a tangent from the usual YT content I watch. The Chopper review was quite good, visceral and innocent, I liked it.
This was my favourite GRitchie film
I really enjoy The Gentlemen. Good humor, excellent use of misdirection and unreliable narrator, along with a great soundtrack.
If you haven't seen them, Guy Ritchie's movies with Henry Cavill are both very good - The Man From UNCLE and Ministry Of Ungentlemently Warfare
This. Fucking. Movie. Ugh! It's so good!
I have to say this.
This has to be the prettiest lady I have ever laid my eyes on.
Haven’t got time now but I’ll definitely be back for this one! I haven’t seen the last two films you reacted to and I don’t want to self-spoiler. But I’ve seen this a number of times and I am very much looking forward to seeing what you made of it (and some great performances).
Haha spoiler alert for this one : I absolutely loved it 😄
@@chrissiereacts I rather suspected you might. Never in a million years did I imagine I would become so evangelical about a Hugh Grant film but after first saw this, I texted EVERYBODY!
Guy Ritchie is a brilliant director, never watched a movie from him and thought it was bad
You'd absolutely love Rock n Rolla, I think it's one of Ritchie's best and the cast is stacked, the story is incredible, check it out!!! 👍
If you liked this you would definitely like Rock'n'Rolla as well. Another good watch is Layer Cake with Daniel Craig, not Guy Ritchie but his production crew and plays very similar. Both great watches!!!
Like your Gustav Klimt.😀
Great reaction for a great movie
I discovered this movie from clips on tiktok a few months ago then i just had to watch it
Hugh Grant, same voice in the movie 'operation fortune'.
For homework Hugh Grant spoke to some paparazzi (some bugged his phone once) and based his character and sleazy accent on them.
well, i was expecting a Mr Hands reference today.
Fun movie. Great reaction. I like you. Subbed
Recent TV series (by the same name) is very good too.
Love getting into it! LIKE!
If this film had been made by Tarantino they would have been shouting from the rooftops for best director oscars and best actor for Hugh Grant. Its a fantastic film.
So one of the actors in the film Bugzy malone he actually broke people's jaw in real life when they tried to break into his house. Its all on video too.
I just subscribed. At the beginning the coca cola, i thought was a 4 loko.. And since i thought you were pouring yourself a 4 loko as an intro . For a moment i was like "i ain't subscribing to this shit" lmao
I don't know this movie, but I was JUST thinking moments ago that I wanted to see Jeremy Strong (or another Succession cast member) in another role, to see how they do! And now here you are reacting to such a film! What the.....? 😄 I'm going to watch a little of video and then skip to your closing review as a preview, and if I like it, I'll either watch it later today or put it on my short list. Either way......great to see you!
Cool, got a taste of it (a little Scorsese/Goodfellasy?), loved your review at the end, didn't get any spoilers so I'm good to go! Thanks, Chrissie!
Yeah its great!! P.s. I'm just wrapping up season 1 of Succession and will start posting those reactions next week!
@@chrissiereacts Wow!!!!! YOU are DEFINITELY someone I'd be interested in seeing your reactions for that show! Super excited to hear that! (Take your time, of course!) Very cool!!!!!
Might one humbly suggest "See no evil, hear no evil" starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder.
That sounds like fun! I'll add it to my list :)
This is a bit like the 1980 British gangster film 'The Long Good Friday'.
Yes, Hugh Grant not acting like Hugh Grant is awesome 😎 in this.
Also by Guy Ritchie: Snatch, Rock n Rolla both in this mode
There's a really good TV series of this now on Netflix
Guy Ritchies pub. The Lore of the Land.
No it’s not his pub, just his glass with Lore of the Land written on it. The pub the scenes where Micky is almost killed in is called The Princess Victoria in Shepherd’s Bush. I should know, it’s at the top of my road..
Best reaction by far to this excellent movie!
As others have suggested "RocknRolla" is well worth a watch but "In Bruges" is an absolute must see.
It was Martin McDonagh's first mainstream film and when I watched it back in '08 I thought 'he should quit right now because he'll never make a better film'.
His brother John Michael's first film "The Guard" (2011) is also a low budget little gem.
Both brothers lost their way with their 2nd movies IMO but Martin redeemed himself with "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) .
Little or no reactions to any of the above and in my opinion they all deserve more coverage.
Thank you!! A few people have mentioned both RocknRolla and In Bruges so definitely excited about those!
Hair looks nice yo
At 15:00 is London's most enormous council flat. Has Mr Richie never taken a look inside social housing?
Big Poe fan...oh, and check out the Guy Ritchie film 'RockinRolla'
Ritchie also manufactures the bbqs. Grant and Farrell steal the movie.
I so wanted Guy Ritchie to do a crossover film with this and "RocknRolla", but I recently found out what's going on. One of the actors from "RocknRolla" pitched a sequel to that film to Ritchie, but now he's suing Ritchie claiming that Ritchie stole his idea and used it for this film. Particularly the Coach (Colin Farrell) and the guys he mentors.
Who? I really liked RocknRolla.
@@NinkyNonk30 Mickey De Hara. He was Turbo in "RocknRolla".
you made a most excellent move watching this flick. kitty is most pleased 😺😺
😸😸
Guy Ritchie has a company now that makes those barbecue tables and sells them
Great movie Chrissie…and Hugh Grant is very different in this aye 😂
I can't get over the transformation just with his voice!
It’s baffling eh.
You probably get loads of recommendations so apologies if this one more too many in them…but a brilliant but vastly underrated film with Colin Farrell (…and Brendan Gleeson)…with slightly similar gangster tones…but very different in ways, it’s melancholic, quite deep but incredibly funny…is “In Bruges” by Martin McDonagh. I fell in love with this film so much I went to Bruges this last Christmas…it’s beautiful…and not a “shit hole”…it’ll make sense if you get round to the film.
New subscriber and really enjoying your reactions.
I always welcome suggestions! I've heard amazing things about this one so it's a good reminder to add it to my list :)
Hahaha amazing 😅
Check out green street hooligan, great movie
classic film. tv show was decent as well
I like how Hugh Grant aged out of being " romcom heart throb" so he has to be a good actor now, and he is! What was he doing before?
Try The Covenant.
My wife!!!😬
@chrissiereacts
The Mr Hands reference 🤣🤮
Vinegar after slapping the black guy ngl i thought u said something different
It's called acting
Hello Chrissie
Hello! ☺️
The series ain't bad
SOMEBODY CALL A HAIRDRESSER
11:39 what did she say!!!?!?!?
Not sure if your making a joke or not but she said "vinegar" because that's what he sprayed in the kids face.
False advertising, these men weren't the least bit gentle.
11:45 yall this totally threw me off I thought she was sayin the n word😭
I thought this was a mere pastiche of Ritchie’s better earlier work imho. Came out of the cinema pretty disappointed with it if I’m honest. Lock, Stock and Snatch remain the benchmarks for me. This film was a pale imitation. Good reaction though 😉
Can you react to Jo jo rabbit ?
I've already seen it :/
Why do all Americans have to point out who the actors are?
Why do people outside North America assume we're all American? Because life isn't tailored to your specific desires 🍁🥸
Bahubali 2 ?
I'm working on it :)
@@chrissiereacts no need to work on it
Are you an actress Chrissie?? If not, you should be. Quite like your reactions, but find it strange that they usually include graphic violence.
Greetings from Hungary!
Shameless self-advertising by Hugh Grant :D That "barbie" is made by his company.
Hahaha that's too funny 😆
Not Hugh Grant, it's Guy Ritchie's company
Guy Ritchie's beer is in it, too.
@bencejuhasz6459 Wrong person, my guy. That is a Wildkitchen made by the Cashmere Caveman Co. which was founded by Guy Ritchie. Not Hugh Grant.
"The Gentleman" is probably the last decent film I have watched in the last 5 years. The rest is just woke garbage. Hugh Grant is a revaluation and 100% his best role to date. Mark Strong is always a good bet but under used in this. The rest of the cast is excellent as well and would not like to pick a fav. All round a tip-top British gangst-aaaarrrr film!
The tv series is even better.
Ha!, no.
She’s pretty but why do we need to she her face all the time?
Lil fella is lost on www.youtube.com
Someone help him find his way out of reaction channels.
In 4 days legal in Germany. It’s really the new gold rush, because there is no reason to keep it illegal as long alcohol is legal. This will be a ton of money
We have half the population of Germany here in Canada, and in the last 5 years since legalizing, it contributed approx $50 BILLION to our GDP... gold rush is absolutely right.
Sting’s daughter.
you should watch LAYER CAKE it has the same vibe.
The drug addicted girl from the flat. Is Stings daughter
Edit out your confusion and try looking at who's in it. Build. No need to free-form on early days. But you have a genuine ness. Go there!

With all due respect - No. We don't need more sanitised versions of ourselves online. I watch these the same way I would with friends. I wouldn't do research before watching a film irl so I won't do it here either. I won't fake or "try" to exude a certain vibe for the sake of yet another disingenuous reaction in order to appear smarter or more informed than I am. Those who like my authenticity will gravitate towards my channel. Those who prefer a different take have plenty of other options.
