Both Ryan and Colin have said that this is one of the most memorable episodes they've ever done in all the time they've been on Whose Line.
Part of the magic of this clip is that you can see the performers taking delight by inflicting Richard on each other. And Colin sneaking a quick cigarette after riding his “jetski” always gets me too.
They've been on the England show also.
For them to say this is their favorite says a lot

Once the game started he was dialed in - his head movements when he did the jetski is the hallmark of someone who has a sense of humor, came to play and RELISHED in the laughter without worrying whether or not it was at his expense.
Richard is an absolute gem of a human being. He's a lot, that's for sure, but all of his energy truly comes from a place of love. I know he's been very reclusive to say the least for quite a few years, but I wish him well and hope he is doing okay.
I mean the man is quite up there in years now, and we don't really know his current health state. So, being reclusive seems about right for a person of his celebrity. Even if most Gen Z'ers probably have never heard of him except maybe in a Tik Tok or something lol
He was treated for skin cancer not to long ago. But seems to just be living his life.
Ryan breaking the neon sign with his head is another one that will make you cry with laughter. The genuine concern of the other comics and then the way Ryan stays in character is hilarious.

I think he recently gave his opinion on a possible biopic about him where his part would be played by Pauly Shore. It wasn't exactly a favourable one.
Pauly Shore even did a short film "The Court Jester" that has Pauly as Richard Simmons! He looks just like him!
@@bluebear1985 No, it was not a favorable one. He was pissed. But you got to hand it to Pauly, he gave his all. (I recently saw his one man show, Stick with the Dancing, at the Arlington (Texas) Music Hall and I thoroughly enjoyed myself listening to his stories and huge name drops.

First time I saw Richard bobbing his head as a jet-ski... I'm pretty sure I never laughed harder in my life. Then when he snuggled with Wayne, holy hell, I was in agony from laughing.

yep this was the 2nd skit they did with him in it, he did one earlier in the show that's why when he came out he said thanks for having me back. Don't remember what the first skit was everyone just remembers this one.

Hey Britt, you watched one part of a six-sketch episode. It starts with "Multiple Personalities" (which doesn't include Richard, but incorporates his personality), then "News Flash" (which doesn't include Richard, but has video footage of him in the background), then "Song Styles" (which Richard comes running out to the stage as their special guest), after that "Living Scenery" (which is the one you watched), then "Moving People" (also including Richard), and finally a reading of the "End Credits" (once again with Richard). Hilarious episode! Find the whole 30-minute episode (21 without commercials), and definitely check it out. I also highly recommend the Robin Williams episode (s3e09) and the Whoopi Goldberg episode (s5e01) as well!

For those who don't know: Richard Simmons was a big exercise host celebrity back in the early to mid 1990s. People could buy videocassettes, and later DVDs, of his exercise routines that he would walk them through, and work out at home. Richard Simmons specifically is best known for "Sweatin' to the Oldies" where he would lead people through aerobic exercises to music, although I never watched any myself, so I don't know any specific songs. He did additional other programs and methods as well, but like I said, "Sweatin to the oldies' is what he was best known for.
My mom and i used to do it. It was the best way to keep her a little active after she had her ankle operated on and it healed some. We never pushed and she knew i was doing it for her (i was anorexic)
It was fun and he really did help so many people - and with a smile 😊
80's is when I watched, Sweatin' came out later [his act II as it were], such an Icon.
I used to own several of the VCR tapes. They were easy to comprehend and Richard ALWAYS made them fun!
He also used normal people trying to lose weight in his videos and on his show - and that included overweight people instead of fitness models.
This was one of the funniest bits they ever did!!
They maintain it's not rehearsed and they break character to laugh quite often, this is why these peeps are improv legends ;)
When i was a little kid, my mom used to do his workouts. He came to Portland for a health expo and we got to meet him. He was the sweetest!!

Richard is still alive I'm very happy to say. Back in the 90s I was the producer of a morning show and Richard was one of our guests one day and he came in and smelt my hairspray said that it smelt like grapes and proceeded to put my hair in his mouth. Then he went down the hallway and saw that the host who also had a perm and yelled oh wow we have the same hair!!!! I almost peed myself😂😂😂
Personally I think their "Improbable Mission: Laundry" (also fondly known as "THE CAT!") is one of their most hilarious performances.

That's a good one but wrong name in bed irish drinking song is my favorite. They laugh so hard they couldn't fully complete the game and even Laura Hall starts missing notes. Also party quirks where Ryan is Carol Channing but his head keeps sticking to me is great. Finally what's in the bag where Ryan maced himself. They had to stop playing that game after that and another mishap.

The show is 100% improv..... They are all just very good at what they do.

Richard Sim!one disappeared from the public eye a few years back. His studio quietly closed and a few years later there was a very quick video on his Facebook showing the beach... It was maybe 3-3 seconds long.
He is now 75 years old and has led a completely incognito life lately.
Hoping he's just living his best life taking a well earned rest.
I mean, he made his money and he had a great run at doing what he loved. He earned his down time and I wish him nothing but the best. He was an icon when I was growing up. Good for him. I wouldn't want to be in the spotlight forever either (or at all to be honest).

I used to watch this show almost every week! 🤣😭😂 Obviously, I missed a week because I'd never seen this with Richard Simmons! Hysterically funny! I used to sit and watch this and laugh til I was crying and my stomach hurt! They're just all so clever and quick. I just found out by reading some of the comments that the entire series is on MAX. I'm going to go back and watch these since it's been so long and I know I missed a lot. 😮 I'm sure if this was still on ABC, it would have been cancelled a long time ago. I'm glad it's still out there gor anyone to find. People were not so touchy back in the 90's as they are now. Or maybe they were but they didn't tell anybody. Either way, comedy would die if people couldn't say things spontaneously like they do on this show. Thankfully, it's still going but I haven't seen it in years. I used to tape and watch Who's Line in the morning just before heading off to Uni, it always put me in a great mood to start the day. Let me tell you that the morning I watched this episode before heading off to school, I was cackling! And then all day I would randomly burst out laughing like a donkey in class. Best day ever 😅

I remember exercising to a Richard Simmons cassette tape way back when. At the end, he talked you through cool down and, laying on the floor, he would say how you did a great job and that he's proud of you. I'd cry like a baby. You just felt loved. ❤

One of my favourite games is called "helping hands". Ryan and Colin do it with whoever the special guest is. There's likely a compilation of that. Anything with Ryan and Colin together is usually great. They play so well off of each other

So there are some guest comedians that will come onto the show as the honorary 4th member of the improvisers and stay throughout the recording (like Greg Proops in this episode, Chip Eston, Jeff Davis, Kathy Griffin, Keagan Michael Key...even Whoopie Goldberg and Robin Williams would stay a whole episode as a guest comedian) and then there are other special guests who will come out for only a game or two (like Richard Simmons, David Hasselhoff, Bill Nye, the Loyola Marymount University cheerleaders, Lassie the dog, Darren Criss, and female bodybuilder Jane Tricker).

It makes me so happy to see people watch and love Who’s Line for the first time. It’s in the top 3 comedy shows for me, along with impractical jokers, and Psych. The show ended in 2007 and it came back in 2013 ( and still going ) with a new host, and it’s just as funny as the one hosted by Drew. Ps, the original Who’s Line was in the UK before it came to America with Drew hosting
The bit with the jet ski at 6:34 was the funniest ever Whose Line moment. Wayne Brady was genuinely laughing at 6:48. 🤣
Richard was also, as they say, Obese. He started the weight loss young and back in the day nobody really knew about nutrition. He's a gem. One of the greats that will be missed alongside Mr Rogers.

one of the things I've always said about Colin, is he's never shy about "Going for it". For the Jet-Ski's, both Richard and Wayne were in a safer position (for comedy) but Colin saw the risk of it, and immediately flipped Richard over (knowing the comedy potential). And it was obviously incredibly amazing! He always did/does that. In so many skits, Colin will just throw stuff out there, most of it lands, but even when it doesn't, it's that much more hilarious, because he was just saying, WTF, and trying it.
If you all are wondering where Richard Simmon is. He's like 75 and retired from his work. Yes he's still alive and doing well. He is just doing his life and relaxing in the leisure in his home... not sure when is he coming back to do some work though. Usually men around 60s or 70s retire from filming or work.

One of the best things about Whose Line is that the audience is always in on the inside jokes, too. A lot of it comes from the banter between games.
When it comes to these guys cracking each other up, you've gotta see the "My Favorite Shoe" game of "Three Headed Broadway Star", the "Arctic Tern" bit from a game of "Greatest Hits", and especially the "Yelled the Wrong Name in Bed" game of "Irish Drinking Song". Probably the hardest I've seen these guys laughing in all my years of watching Whose Line.
Simmons was also on Letterman at one point, and there was *so* much shade flying around in that episode. It was epic.
Richard Simmons graduated from my high school in New Orleans, LA quite a few years before I did.
This is my absolute FAVOURITE not only of Britt’s, but of ANY reaction on line. Love love love this one. Britt, I was a fan before, now a fan for life. 😂😂😂
