I live in a smallish town where the poverty rate is pretty high. When I was a teacher, the child poverty rate was over 60%. Our school provided free breakfast for every student; no income questions were asked. We have a Walmart that is only a grocery store. If Walmart were to randomly stop doing business with Dial, more than half of their revenue would drop from one buyer. Walmart knows this and this is why they can strong arm Dial into lower prices. @seanthiar Před 5 měsíci +2

@@dr.vanhellsing Sure you write of Germany? High prices and high discounts (coupons) are an US-American thing. Groceries cost still more than double in the US than what they cost in Germany and many groceries in the US contain half a chemical company in unneeded addons. Discounts in Germany are always low if you get one, only a few per cent, not the 50 per cent I've often seen in the USofA. Gas did always cost more in Europe compared to the USA. Our prices went up, but not because of the lack of cheap gas. The cause is the lack of other resources. What many outside Europe does not know is that Ukraine was an agricultural country. Grain, oil plants and mustard came from Ukraine. for mustard plants Ukraine was the main supplier in the world and companies worldwide have problems getting seeds to produce mustard. In the beginning of the war we had plant oil prices of 7-9$ a liter. Now it's back to 1-2$ a liter. A bit more expensive than before, but that's understandable because of the longer transport. Many African countries are struggling and fighting a famine because they get no grain anymore from Ukraine. Grain that is now destroyed by Putlers drones on the fields an warehouses and the blocking of ships in the black sea.

It was pretty common to have a Thanksgiving or Christmas food drive for people who could not afford Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at places where I worked. Walmart had stores there until this year but Walmart was tired of the scumbags destroying the stores completely and 37 Walmart stores got destroyed in less than 3 weeks and so Walmart shut all other 80 plus stores down because they are not playing games with thugs and scumbags. If you don't want food then you don't get food. Not educational when they lie out their ass. Also all those stores he showed have been shut down do to fire damage and being trashed completely for 3 years now. That is old altered footage. Actually Walmart is not banned they are in reality begging on their hands and knees for Walmart to come back because people are without reliable food sources and without reliable supplies and without reliable sales and New York is about $5.3 trillion in debt. The state is in complete collapse and large corporations have gotten the fuck out. Target left this year as well. Best Boy lest 2 years ago. Those closing stores shut down last year. Home Depot left 6 months ago. None of those stores are still open they are all shut down do to fire damage and mass theft and no construction company will go anywhere near New York to fix anything do to how fucking dangerous New York has become. No one will fix shit because crime is insane and the crime is out of control because the government of New York refuses to prosecute actual criminals. Stores that do exist have to chain everything but were then told by the government that if you put chains or lock doors then they will be fined. Walgreens left as well because if they can not protect their shit from being stollen and they get fined for adding security then why stay in a shit hole?! Nearly 100% of all large corporations have left Illinois, California, Colorado, New York, and every other Democrat run state. Hell New York right now is actually flipping to Republican because even Democrats are starting to vote Republican because their lives are actually in shit. I worked at Wal-Mart from 2018-2020. I was working late the night before Black Friday up here in Canada which isn't as big of a deal as the States, and they asked me to come in during Black Friday at 6 in the morning. I needed the money so I accepted.
Came in with a coffee, as its 6 in the morning. Immediately the produce manager screams at me "If I'm not allowed to have a coffee, your not either, go dump it immediately". I looked at her and said "I don't get paid enough to dump this coffee. I'll put it in my car, but I'm not dumping it.". Grabbed my safety vest and left out the door. Empty parking lot btw, as all the customers were inside, immediate write up for not having my vest "on", despite me having it over my shoulder, clearly visible. I'll take the blame for that one, that's on me.
But in the 3 years I was there, I got yelled at daily, at least 6 or 7 times a day. All by managers that weren't my direct manager, because they were allowed to abuse their power. And its not like I was doing anything wrong either. I could be out in the middle of grabbing carts and one of them would yell at me or one of my coworkers. We had a coworker sit down to tie his shoes and he got written up for being "lazy". This same coworker failed to inform my other coworker of a frayed wire on our cart manager machine, and nearly electrocuted him (his jacket got burn marks). Threw their hands up, did nothing.
It got so bad, that the day I quit to go back to college, my entire department mass quit. They had to shut down the department for 6 months because none of their other staff wanted to work there, knowing how poorly we were being treated.
I have so many stories about that store, and other retail stores I've worked that when I finally experienced my first "real" job last year it was a culture shock to me, seeing managers actually give a damn about me and my coworkers.

But building a store in NYC goes against their business model, the land is too expensive, there’s not enough of it, having a huge parking lot is almost impossible, and like you said Cash, it’d probably be the most expensive Walmart in the Country if they did do it and they probably wouldn’t want that “badge of honor”. I live near two huge Walmarts but I haven’t been in either since long before the pandemic. I occasionally use their online service but the stores are too big and I’m one of those weird people who doesn’t want to buy his clothes and food in the same store. I personally like that Walmart hasn’t infiltrated NYC.

You are absolutely correct. They destroyed the local mom and pop stores in my community. Now there is nowhere to shop for quality merchandise. Everything they sell is inferior quality including the food. I make an 80 mile round d trip to get my groceries at Trader Joes. With gas it is still cheaper and the food is good quality. I am curious to know which h local politicians paid off a mortgage, purchased a boat or went on a European holiday around that time. The wishes of the local community are disregarded, what else is new. Walmart employees have to go to social services for medical, food stamps, etc. because they are not paid a living wage, putting the burden on the local taxpayer. They use the local police as their security instead of hiring people trained in loss prevention. They threaten to close the store if the employees want to unionize. New Yorkers are very much aware of what Walmart is about and they do not want it. Imo Cashs' knowledge about Walmart and NYC is superficial.

But NO big name stores go there???? It is the only big box store in this town. The only competition is a local grocery chain -that is thriving. That store is immaculate. The reason it runs so well, is because it is community invested. The people who work there are neighbors with people who shop there. For this smaller, lower social economic town the wages are amazing. Because there never really were successful mom and pop stores, they didn’t really drive any out. @@guardianali If necessary evils were held as standards there would be some pretty horrible studies still allowed to take place.
I'm sorry, I don't believe in that. I think that there should be a standard, and that unsafe labor practices shouldn't exist and we should all hold people to that responsibility. There CAN be safe practices involved plus benefits for the community. It just takes public scrutiny, unions, and striking.

Hi Cash no Walmart in NYC is rare. We have many Walmarts and super Walmarts in SoCal. It’s not the same as in the past. People mess up the aisles and take things out of boxes. Not enough cashiers. I am still looking for a regular job. Stay well and safe in NYC. You have a nice Target 🎯👍

Warehouses prioritize efficient storage and inventory management, while distribution centers focus on the timely and accurate movement of goods. That would mean that Walmart doesn't use Warehouses at all because Walmart doesn't want to have to store any product.

I will shop at Target over Walmart any day of the week. The store in my area is a lot cleaner, most of the employees are friendly, and don't treat you like a criminal. Walmart has no more cashiers yet they have about 4 employees who stand over you while checking yourself out. Also Walmart demands that their vendors give them a lower price and cheapen up items to bring down prices. Part of the reason for shortages in their stores is some of the vendors have pulled out. I only go if it is something I can't get elsewhere.

Vendors don't like stocking shelves in our Walmarts, employees and managers are rude, they hate how managers treat the employees and get away with it. However, they quit within weeks in most cases. They are the highest paying stoe in the area at $19.hour yet can't keep help and can't figure our why. It's so bad, they literally close down their online shopping department because they have no employees. That's bad!

Right. A good example of Walmart demanding cheaper and lower quality items is Levi's jeans. Levi's makes a special cheap line of jeans to sell at Walmart. They are much lower quality and don't look as good or last as long. Target just sells a small selection of regular top quality Levi's.

As a native New Yorker, if I wanted to travel to the closest Walmart, I'd have to travel to the WTC, then take the PATH train to New Jersey at Harrison to only then walk for 30 minutes to the Walmart warehouse. It was the first and only time I have ever been to a Walmart in my life, and hearing other Americans listening to that sends them into a frenzy.

The nearest "big" town where I live has a Walmart but it's not a Walmart "super store" with a supermarket. Yes, they sell dry good grocery items, but they are not as cheap as they used to be. (inflation) And frankly, the local Aldi is much cheaper and has better quality staples. Some of Walmart's branded "great value" items are garbage. Their appliances and furniture are, frankly, junk. Their clothes fall apart easily after a few washings. I go to the Goodwill store, the local charity shop and the secondhand store for clothing. Walmart, along with Amazon, successfully destroyed the small local mall we had, and many businesses in the local "big" town. Walmart is the "only game in town" and they eliminated their slogan of "pay less, live better" because it's no longer true. That big mall you showed, Cash, with all those small shops would disappear if Walmart came to NYC.

I don't buy brand name products. All the staples I buy are from Aldi, which are higher quality and less adulterated than most brand-named products. The FDA has done a good job of blowing smoke in favor of the food industry. It's easy to condemn soft drinks while the food conglomerates adulterate the food chain. Why do you think so many American products are denied entry into the European Union, unless the offending additives are removed? @@jaquazz8971
