- A 92-year-old South Carolina grandma is turning the tables on phone scammers. She trolls phone scammers until they hang up. According to the FBI, seniors lose more than $3 billion each year to financial scams. However, they can't touch this grandma who sure can deliver an Oscar-worthy performance. Inside Edition’s Les Trent spoke to grandma Donna Saltzman and granddaughter Cheyene, who posted the videos with three-million views.

It's fun to treat sales/scammers like they've called to offer free therapy. Just get out all your feelings, your tears, your anger, your dreams, fears, goals... You don't gotta be grandma to employ this strategy.

Did you have the feelings when he talked about storming airports during the Revolutionary War, asking if nuking hurricanes was an option or my personal favorite when he not once but twice bragged about passing a cognitive test given to people with the onset of dementia? I’m serious, there’s video of him acting all high and mighty because he correctly identified and circled a giraffe. But tell me more how mentally unfit Biden is. 😆🤦♂️

@@linland4309Same here (I’m 70). If I don’t know the number I don’t pick up, then I check the number online to see if there’s any information on that number and who’s behind it. I can also redirect my phone to another number through my router, which I took advantage of when two companies kept calling me every day, numerous times a day. Online information said they were both sub-contractors calling in the name of an internet provider trying to sell me the same service, so I eventually redirected each one to the other one, so they could talk to each other, lol. Never heard from them again!
Seeing scammers get trolled is so satisfying, especially by senior women.
I love doing this to scammers. The longer I keep them on the phone the longer they aren't scamming someone.

@Five0Five I did something similar to a scam call center because they woke me up so they had to call twice (had do not disturb on). I kept on calling them and wasting their time. No joke, I called them over 100 times until they blocked me lmao
I need to get better at the game. I can't seem to keep them on for more than 10 seconds.

@@blueraccoon1088 one reason scammers call instead of writing, is because mail fraud is taken seriously by the US government. If anyone gets a scam through the mail they should take it to their post office and ask to report it.
Add to that if anyone is concerned call the IRS/FBI/Police back DIRECTLY. Caller ID can be faked. Don't use the scammers email or phone numbers they give you.

Trolling scammers is not an inherently worse way to spend your time than watching TV you know ... loads of people waste time, by being online or watching tv or gossipping.... You could argue you and me spending time on YT is a waste of our time. Plus, for all we know she has a very rich social life she keeps up with when she's not trolling scammers.

He can’t even make a call for work without one coming through. Something needs to be done to stop those scammers! It’s out of control!

I like when they call me about “your recent car crash” or “your recent insurance claim”, like nah I don’t drive nor can I afford insurance haha, but I will keep you on the call for as long as possible and blame it on a head injury as to why I am so forgetful and slow

My parents had me late in life, so a lot of people their age have grandkids my age. Sometimes scammers try and call and tell them their granddaughter is in trouble and they just laugh because no she isn’t, their only child has no kids and any she did have would be toddlers!

Speaking as an old lady myself...don't mess with us! I used to do stuff like that to scammers all the time. Now that I use a cell phone only, I'm not getting the calls anymore. If I don't recognize a number that shows up, I simply don't answer the call...if it's important, they'll leave me a voicemail!
The best is the scammers that ask you to buy them a gift card. I have them stay on the phone while I pretend to go on the store, then after a very long time of keeping them on the line, I say I have to call back and hang up. They get so angry, it gives me power!
"I'm in Walmart and i only see the giftcards that say happy birthday? Will those still work?"

She really is the perfect one to trick scammers. They hear an innocent old lady on the phone and desperately think it will be an easy catch and then have the worst time of their life. That's gotta be a very entertaining hobby for your retired senior years. I love this

Back before social media I kept getting calls from funeral shops and was even getting AARP mail. All simply because I entered a different birthday on one of those grocery store drawings.
Anyway, I had enough, so when someone called about burial expenses I began to “cry” and said, “My doctor told me my test was negative! What did he tell you? Did he say I was going to die? How much time do I have left?” That poor dude couldn’t get off the phone fast enough, after encouraging me to call my doctor for reassurance.
They never called back.
She outsmarts the scammers by pranking them. Way to go Granny!

Before my grandma passed she had this little flip phone. This poor women got so many scam calls the thing literally would ring every 5 - 10 minutes. I put it on silent, it drove me nuts! After years of this happening, I decided it’s time to fight back lol so I started answering and harassing them back lol I’d ask them what they were wearing, do they have plans later, I would tell them their voice was sexy, anything just to be an a$$ and make them laugh 😂 Sometimes I would be on the phone with one scammer and another would call in and I would three way them so they would chat with each other and I would remain quiet 😂 at times their coworkers would be in the background laughing. Good for this grandma! 💪🏼👵🏼

When I was about 14 we moved in with my mums fiance who got telemarketing calls CONSTANTLY. It was always easy to tell because they inaccurately pronounced his last name every time. I started giving reasons he wasn't currently available such as, 'im sorry, he's currently doing 8 to 10 at state for killing a telemarketer, may I please get your name and contact information to take a message and I will ensure it reaches him?'
The weirdest ones were the ones that actually left contact information 😂

She reminds me of a lady took care of. She unfortunately died recently at 88.
I remember being with on of my cousin's Great-Grandfather a few times & he was definitely still sharp & kicking it into his 90s. He died in 2021 when he was 94.
That grandma did a huge favor for us all for prank calling those scammers

She’s amazing. It’s horrible that these scammers tell you that a loved one died. Imagine all the heartbreak and possible hospitalizations that happened to elderly folks who thought it was real. We need to do a greater effort to crack down on the scammers and preventing those calls from happening

I love seeing someone her age so sharp and with it. I lost my grandmother to Alzheimer’s at 73 so I’m sort of nervous around old folks due to the trauma of being around someone with Alzheimer’s. It’s healing to see that not everyone has lost their facilities.
This happened to one of my friend’s grandmothers and she nearly had a heart attack. The guy called and said her grandson (his brother) was in big trouble and needed her money or else he would die. She was so scared and called everyone she knew, including me, and a bunch of other random people to get help. She thankfully didn’t give them any money or anything, but by the time someone answered her calls she had already called the police and had them search and it was super embarrassing. My question is, how do these scammers know who’s old and who isn’t. They only target elderly. How do they know that that phone number is owned by a senior citizen? Makes no sense to me

She is already a good voice actress! She protected herself, and had some fun while doing it.
And protected others. Every minute you keep those predators busy is a minute less they can use to ruin someone elses life.
I had a scam call six years ago, demanding money because my husband hit their cousin, an uninsured motorist. I kept the scammer on the line for over 45 minutes. They eventually threatened to kill my husband if I didn’t bring them the money. Little did they know, I’m divorced. It wasn’t a pleasant divorce. And my ex-husband lives in a different state. I recorded the call and I listen to it every once in a while just to bring myself joy.
She is doing all of us a HUGE favor!
