  • My old 40 plus year Lucas alternator needed a rebuild. I decided to try a modern alternator for right now. This has a small upgrade in amps and shouldn’t overload the charging wire. PG-13107 ordered from A to Z store. Basically going from 53 to 55 amps. Very cost effective and almost plug and play. Just about every alternator suggested does not work on cars with air pumps. Most of them are fine. You just have to do two modifications described in video. I may look for a better fitting pulley in the future after it’s earned my trust but it’s close to a perfect fit and shouldn’t give any problems.
My red charging light goes on when started and turns off immediately. Works fine. Do not use LED bulbs in dash light for charging.
I really didn’t want a super high output alternator. They require new charging wires and can be a big load on our small engines. This should be fine for now.

Adding a high amp alt to my mgb, and this saved me.

    Very helpful. :) I have a '72 TR6 so I shouldn't have this issue.

yes - you should be bolt right in with no modifications. You might need to play with belt size so your #1 spark plug isn't blocked.
