I have never been a GMC guy but this video and one other I have seen recently may start changing things. If your pricing is even close to accurate, then your 2017 Sierra 3500 is about 12K less than the Ford Super Duty in the same configuration. I currently have a 2015 Ford Superduty F350 Diesel Dually and have been considering trading it in. If I decide to do that, I will be basing that decision on a few videos I have recently seen, including this one. Of course I still have to test drive them and check them out but the Ram has always been right up there with the Ford so I know how wonderful they are. The GMC has slowly crept up into the race and recently I have seen some genuine changes that show how much GMC wants to get a strong foothold in this market place. Let's face it, the Toyota in a matter of 3 years has really closed the gap on some of the "bigger" trucks. That's something I don't like to see because I have always felt that the American companies have kept the foreigners out of this particular market. Hopefully I will like the GMC and make a decision based on Ford, Dodge and GMC still being the best there is when it comes down to great trucks for the hard work that needs to be done out there. Lets keep America great out there!!!!!!

We also have an older 8.1 gas Sierra.
The Dmax is light years better.
      205K miles original brakes.
I love the Ram but everyone I know with Rams always need brakes or just got brakes.
I'll stick my neck and and repeat what the dealer told us:
"The GMC brakes will probably last the lifetime of the truck". I took it as fake gloss but it seems to be true.

Nice presentation. Beautiful truck. I have an 02 LB7 with 840hp that pulls a 40' toy hauler that is 22500 when the garage is loaded. The truck can climb any mountain pass without heating up over 700 on egts. My dmax never knows the trailer is there. Duramax never quits.

    Thanks for the time Indexing.
We have this exact truck in 4x4, tow a 43' toy hauler and love it.
    Super quiet, great MPG.
Ordered it with out the sunroof and video system and saved a ton of money.
    The DMax never gives up.
I wanted the Ford but it was $15K more, understand the Ford is now almost $17K more.
I bagged it but you really don't need to towing 18K# and under.
Wish the leather seats we a little softer, that's our only gripe.

Awesome reviews! You've done a great job on reviewing the Heavy Duty Fords and GMC trucks....how about RAM??? Would love to see that review as well to round out the top 3.
Best reviews I've seen on the trucks!

+cjweener Thanks we appreciate that! We will see what we can do, but RAM is certainly one of the brand's we are hoping to expand into this year!

I really like this truck except for the lane alert, adaptive cruise control and where they put the def fill.

This might be a dumb question but I didn't see the 5th wheel pkg so why get a Dually if you're not towing gooseneck trailers?

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  Před 7 lety +2

Haha, not at all! We were wondering this ourselves. From my limited research, all we could find was that...
      1. Some people prefer the styling of the dually.
      2. Provides extra stability when towing (gooseneck or not).
      3. If a tire goes flat you will still be able to drive.
      4. In some cases it might be cheaper than the regular model.
There might be other benefits, so if you're really concerned about it try contacting a GMC dealer.

We have this truck in the Dually and Single rear wheel.
If you got the bank, you'll never regret the dually when towing.
The SRW is fine, but the dually is SOOOO nice.
